A friend of mine and I tried out this tactic, and it worked surprisingly well, sometimes. If you get the hang of it, though, it might work out really well...

What you need: ships with good missile capability and good medium slots

Equip for heavy missiles and heavy speed. Speedwise, I'm talking about 2km/s+. Maybe 1 MWD + 2 - 4 burners. To save cap, you'd need good nav skills.

Basically, orbit around your target at max speed and fire missiles away. Your target can't hit you that well, since you're going way too fast.

Other advantages: you can run away, missiles can't catch up to you, blockade running is quite simple.

Disadvantages: this is a really ACTIVE form of fighting. You can't make mistakes [i.e. slow down]. Orbiting fast is hard. Cap usage is a problem.

Any ideas? Stasis web is hard to go up against, still working around that issue.

It works, but you have to learn how to strafe. Orbiting is bad because MWD's eat up so much cap. The last thing you want to do is run out of cap 10km out from an Apoc.

(Do yourself a favour though and don't launch the missles till AFTER you have passed your target. It sucks to fire too soon and fly into your own splash damage. Not that I would know or anything. Embarassed)

the funniest thing to do is put 4x MWD's on a bship with all CPR's in the low slots, and orbit someone at like 5-10km. Eventualy you'll run into them going like 20km/s and knock them out into never-never land. its a riot when youre bored, i promise. We used to do that in Venal during intermission from the war.
