I've played both and in my opinion wow ends when you reach lvl 60.

Eve doesn't have any end. :)

i played WoW too... enjoyed doing quests and instances. but when i had to stop playing it for a while due to exams i cought myself not thinking once about WoW and being on the EVE-o forums all the time :P just take a break and see which u miss most :P

edit: to the guy above me, wow doesnt really end when u reach 60. Tbh i think it starts there. Ive got a friend who is in one of the top pve guilds on the europe servers and ive seen him do the instances... that is more fun than the whole grind to lvl 60 tbh. he would like to try eve but he doesnt want to lose everything he got in WoW just to start as a n00b in another game.

I also played Eve, then went to Wow, and now back to Eve.

And as other posters have said. Wow ends at lvl 60.
And I'm not ashamed to say I loved Wow! Was great fun! And the group play is much better than Eve. It just feels more personal than Eve. I just don't really identify with a ship like I do with a face. Ofcourse the fact that everyone looks unique also helps alot. Not just a lil mugshot bottom left, that you turn off anyways to get more text space.

Those things make Wow fantastic. But then comes Molten Bore etc. And the game is just over.

Eve is techically better than Wow. But Wow is a more personal and rewarding experience. No farming missions!!!

WoW is a bore.

Its boring at level 5, its boring at level 10, its boring at level 20, its boring at level 35, its boring at level 50, and its boring at level 60.

EVE is only boring if you want it to be.

unique in what way? one of my friends is in the top raiding clans on the Zenedar server (some big fancy server).

I once watched him do some instance, and all i saw was clones rushing forward to bash down some lame oversized enemy. In my opinion there is nothing personal about your character, when it reaches lvl 60 and starts getting good items, they all look the same.

just my opinion..

Imho WoW becomes interesting with lvl. 60, but probably not for casual gamers !

If you don't have a few hours time, you don't need to start with end-game content like Molten Core.
When I was playing in spring 2005, we usually went to Molten Core 3 or 4 times a week. We met at 19:30 and then we stayed in that instance at least until 0:00 or on fridays up to 3:00.

Later as we got better, we did the instance on 2 evenings. (Now they do it in one). But we also wanted to go for Onyxia every time she respawned or get a shot on Kazzak and we started already with the next new instance (BWL) after 2 or 3 Ragnaros kills.

That was the time when I had enough of it.

Ragnaros was my personal goal, my char had over a dozen epic items and I didn't want to continue to put so much time and effort into the next thing.
It was really power gaming. Great fun for some time, but you can't do that PvE stuff endlessly.

So I quit and returned to EVE. My wow guild is still power-gaming even one year later.Laughing

It is true that you loose some of your uniqueness as everyone gets there MC and BWL kit. But your ingame dude is unique. He's not just a mugshot. And with your endgame kit you look a hellova lot more impressive than a noob of same race.

In Eve a frig looks like a frig. If you're lucky you have another paint job.

I first played CoH. Made it to level 17 I think as a fire/ice tank.

Then I went to WoW. Made it to level 28 with a human warlock.

Now I'm in EVE, and I have 3.8M SP, 12M ISK, ran my own corporation for a time, and now I'm a pirate and forum *****. I find EVE has the greatest depth... I can take on people with 4x my SPs, 10x my bankroll, and come out on top. Not that I've done that in a while Embarassed

Oh, and in EVE, if someone in your group is being an arse, you can kill the fecker... try doing that in WoW. YARRRR!!

I played WoW for about 6 months, got through all the highend instances including AQ40 and I have to say, the more I played it, the more boring it became. All you usually do is logging on for a raid that will take about 4-6h or just farm stuff to able to participate in highend content in the rest of the time. But anyhting less then 3h playtime is just not really useful. The crafting system in WoW is horrible, all good stuff is looted in highend instances and in game currency has barely any value since most of the time the stuff you need is either not for sale or will be just traded for other highend loot (if it is actually tradeable, which it isn't most of the time). PvP in WoW is not much more then farming and you really don't have the ability to gain a lasting advantage over an opponent, especially since you get no penalty in PvP when you die.
Missions in Eve may not be the most interesting thing to do, but I find them far more entertaining then grinding standings in WoW. About PvP well, WoW is the ultimate Carebear game, while Eve gets your heart pumping. Crafting, Market and similar stuff is alot better in Eve, since WoW barely has anything like it.
Overall, I am fed up, burned out, whatever you wanna call it.
In Eve I can do what I want, in WoW you can only do what the devs want.

Does WoW actually bring you anything new to the table that hasn't been done time and time again in previous MMORPG? Having played other MMORPG I don't really see the point in grinding a WoW char to level 60 for no good reason.

With Eve you have many possibilities and no ending. It really isn't that hard to work out what is the better choice.

How do you gain levels? How do you get items and gold? FARMING!!

WoW has all the boring things that Eve (and every other MMORPG) has x10 but nothing more.

No matter how I tried, WoW just wouldn't click for me. Eve had its claws in far too deeply.

WoW is all about progression. The grind to up your level.

Similarly, Eve starts out with characters desparately trying to get Isk and SP. However, before too long you Eve character just "is". You do your thing and have your fun. You learn the mechanics, employ your tactics and set your aims and goals, rather than always chasing that next level. Its as much about the brain infront of the screen as the character behind it.

Whenever I find myself grinding out some Isk or itching for that next skill to finish, I persuade myself to go out and have some fun. Fun is something thats easy to find in Eve if you know where to look :)

Every been hunted in 0.0 in a new expensive ship. Terrifying and heart-pounding at times. Can WoW actually provide these emotions ? Risking your fortune on a lucrative/yet dangerous trade run ? Double crossing your corp mates and becoming genuinely infamous ? Eve provides a framework and its upto you to make your place in it. WoW seemed more, erm, spoonfed.

WoW definitely has its place and is a great game, but not for me.

its a shame you chose WoW for your fantasy based MMORPG fix, you should have tried out Dark age of Camelot, head and shoulders above any other fantasy based MMORPG i've ever come accross.

Eve holds its place as but is a different genre of games in my opinion. Both eve and Dark age of camelot are very good games, WoW was just a successful publicity stunt, its not the best in its market, just the most famous.

I know! It's fantastic! You get to farm instances, which are exactly the same every time with no variation in difficulty or tactics whatsoever.
What makes these instances even more fun to farm is that you can't even start without 40 people (High geared/skilled do them with less, i know)

now now, lets not be nasty.
I've tried Wow myself and the game has some fairly decent systems in place, it has problems with balancing of classes/professions though in my opinion and it would be better rgiht away if they just made it more adult.
I played with every race + class combo and my main problem was that I couldn't connect with any of them, I really wanted to enjoy the game but for me it just didn't happen.
If you enjoy playing it then well done, how can one person begrudge another simply for having different tastes?
I have to say though, I had some fun for a while as an undead priest but that ended when complete strangers were asking me for buffs, I said "no, i'm afraid I don't know you" (for roleplay reasons) and they started swearing at me, I had the same response when declining a guild invite.
There are some very good points to the game but there are also some bad ones, anyway.. thats' just what I think..

imnow for like 8 months in a raiding guild and man im getting tired doing them over and over again and all blizzard comes up with is.... more gring be it items(thats not to bad) but it doesnt stop there to get more stuff you need to pvp grind(honor) and faction reputation.

grind grind is all they come up with so thats why i started playing eve online..i can do what i want when i want much more relax

1. Fantasy MMOs are bad, mkay. Having a thing for scantily-clad night elves that are being played by fat balding men is not for me.
2. WoW involves no risk. No decay, no penalty on death, etc.
3. WoW involves ridiculous amounts of farming for good gear, reputation, magic fairy dust, etc. All you need to do is run some missions in Eve and you can pick up some good parts for your loadout.
4. The average IQ and age of a WoW player is about 12.

Of course, I may be biased, but would you rather be raining laser destruction on your foes or be casting magic missile at the darkness?

WoW also has the worst player base of any game I've tried by a very large margin. As others have said, WoW is fun but the game becomes a repetitive grind once you reach the end.

Stay with Eve if you are looking to stay with a game for a long time; you probably won't be playing WoW in another year.
