Hello All,

I just had Someone by the name of Alpha Miner empty the corp hanger and left the corp. This is clearing stealing of our stuff thou its not much, but is it against the EULA to have done this?

What he did is perfectly legal. although frowned on by almost every person in eve.

It's fine I'm afraid.

Lock down your hangars & tighten up your security / recruitment policy, is the best you can do.

Theft in any form is legal in eve so long as you dont use out of game methods to aquire it and work within what was inteneded. AKA no haxsploiting.

My guys want to teach him a lesson, but we can't find him and we are not rich enough to put a bounty on him. Confused He supposely has another charcter much older, but we are not sure who it is.

We already locked down our hanger, sadly he seemed like a nice guy at 1st and then suddenly did this to us. No recruitment policy can save you from that.

Appropriate use of roles, titles and hangar permissions can go some way to mitigating these risks.

Wait a month or two before giving them more than basic hangar access. If they want to rip you off they won't wait that long.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but what Agent Kenshin said is correct. As long as the theft was done with entirely in-game mechanics, corp theft is legit and not against the EULA.

It's a perfectly legal form of pvp, but a pretty low one

This is why Eve rocks. CCP doesn't carebear the game up. =)

That said, bad luck Melsion! Corporate stealth tactics are great from a roleplaying perspective, but you have to have somewhat questionable morals to do it.

Put a bounty on him? He steals your stuff and now you want to give him the rest of your ISK? He'd just have an alt pod him and take your cash.

While you could hire someone to pod kill him it's not worth it. Just move on and make sure you never let new players have access to corp assets till they've proven, over time, that not only are they a seemingly nice guy but are also trustworthy.

My own CEO has suffered in teh past from this, and we have had at least 1 corp spy in the past. The results are teh security countermeasures we have now.

In the case of corp thieves, afaik the modus operandi is to create an alt, pose as a noob and join a player corp. When the deed is done, the assets get transfered to the main, and the alt gets deleted, ready for another alt to repeat.

It is annoying that this kind of thing happens, and it would be nice if only the "main" could corp thief (at least then you could have your revenge).

The above statement isn't meant as a guide of how to do it (which is why I've left it pretty basic). The other problem is people with multiple accounts, as they are even harder to defend against if they choose to get their kicks by ****ing other people over. I just take solace in the fact that people with those type of morals don't have any friends in rl, and will probably never get laid too Wink

But yeah, corp thieveing is pretty low, lower even than the pirates who gank anything on sight instead of actually choosing profitable targets (not that I mean to sound bitter and twisted about losing various frigates to snipe / gate camping pirates, but I am so that's how it comes out

Sorry if this is hijacking slightly, but we had someone steal everything who promptly deleted the character (about 4 hours after the theft, so it was completely premeditated). I strongly suspect this person is making new characters and deleting them just to gain access to corps, participate minimally to gain access, and then steal everything/rinse/repeat. Is this allowed?

And yes, we have since completely locked down our corp hangars. One thing that really bothers me is that you can't look inside containers without having 'take' privs!!!

Recycling suicide alts once they've got a low enough sec status to make them useless is not allowed. I haven't heard whether recycling corp theft alts is allowed or not. I'd like to think that it isn't - after all, it's avoiding the negative repercussions of crime in the same way. Either petition about it or hope somebody official in this thread responds, I guess.

See "petty hack job". The GHSC always leaves calling cards, identifying the perpetrators. They also don't bother with small targets.

You can "risk" being a victim of theft if you do "team" play of Eve, or you can make it 100% certain.

The only way to 100% avoid such risk is to not engage in team play.

You can make it 100% certain that you will be a victim by being careful to not let security hurt anyone's feelings.

If you let concern for your corp members feeling affect your security methods, you WILL be a victim of theft once you have something worth stealing.

This does not mean you must be nasty, but be sure to NOT let anyone "guilt" you into access.

Thank you everyone.

I respect that its allowed, though disappointing we can't get back at him. Live and learn they say. Our guys are semi certain he told us hie main was called "alpha omega" When I do a search I get 2 players, so again I am not sure which one is it.

ugh

Apologizes if this is false information, and I am slandering someones reputation, since both alpha omega are over 2 years old in this game.
