Here's the thing... let's say I really **** someone off and they put a 50-Mil bounty on me. So what? I call my buddy up and say, "Kill me. We'll split the bounty."

Uh-oh. So not only does the Pirate take your ship and skills... he then celebrates on the very same "reward" you put out for his punishment.

Waste of time.

"Yeah, unless you have 600mil of implants in your head..."

* train clone jump skill.
* install jump clone at one of public outposts.
* activate the clone while your implants remain in old body.
* pod the new clone, collect bounty, activate back the old clone with implants.
* profit.

we need concord sanctioned contracts ie player x u take a bounty on - sell right to player y - player y then gets kill rights anywhere for x amount of days - solution hunt and kill player bounty hunter becomes viable professoin that said pirate friends can still claim but hte taker out person perhaps 10m to concord for a week. Can pick who he sells it to and its a one time transfer.

"Like I said... stupid."

It's quite silly, yes.

The new contract system which is planned for next game expansion might help here -- if i understand it right, it will be possible to create 'missions' of sorts, and restrict them to certain players/corporations. So someone could for example set up mission when ISK is paid in exchange of someone's corpse, and then restrict it to some established bounty hunters corporation. Or something to that effect o.O;

This is unlikely to fully solve the problem TBH. All the pirate has to do, is find out out who an claim his bounty.. contact them and say, "hey, if I let you pod me, we can split the bounty"
nobody has to know.. and it's a win-win situation for the bounty hunter and the pirate

How about a system of npc bounty hunters? the bigger the bounty on your head, the more regularly they appear and the more of them there are. You would have to restrict the assigning of bounties, so that you can only assign a bounty to someone that's popped you in the last 24 hours for example. This would prevent griefing to a large degree.

lol thats stupid first of all to even start of by getting a 50 million bounty you would have to have had several bounties on you no one just puts 50 million on you and thats it ... so as that is stated that pirate will have had a long time bounty on him meaning he has dodged alot of people to keep it .. thirdly its about being bad ass you will want that bounty on you its about respect .. low bounty low respect ..

and in conclusion no pirate with a 50 million bounty would fly around with no implants at all they obviusly got there **** togheter ... to even attain that kind of bounty ..

I would say that a bounty is a form of prestige, but it isnt unheard of people putting bounties on their own head to act badass. Saw someone with a second 4.5mil bounty not 24hrs after we podded him.

Since this is a repeat of a dozen threads
ill repeat my answer

My solution to the bounty problem
Linkage

initially i hadent meant for it to be a solution for a the bounty hunter problem
just a way to make kill rights useful
but it seems to fix this problem pretty good

A solution to bounty fraud that both pirates and carebears have been able to agree on is to limit payouts on bounties to the value of the targetís destroyed property. (See ArrowBOUNTY REFORM: Payout Cap at Value of Destroyed Property.) Unfortunately, the Devs do not see any need to reform the bounty system.ugh

Bounties are stupid atm. I would say that about 90% on the top of the bounty boards are self bountied ¨_¨

If warranted, I just put a bounty of 5000, the minimum, just to be insulting. Sometimes I add 13 for bad luck.

Mebbe you should need a +7.5 sec rating to claim bounties.
Make bounty hunting a specialisation.

The problem with that solution lies in the fact that many people have multiple accounts: one for Piracy and one for mining/ect. If I were a Pirate, I'd love to have someone place a bount on me. I'd run out in a 9,000 ISK shuttle and kill myself with my Alt. Collect my own Bounty and then send an Email to whoever placed the Bounty to thank them.

I still vote for contracts instead of bounties,
so people can regulate WHO they want to kill the pirate

90% of the time, the bounty you see on someone's head was placed by the one with the bounty on his/ her head. They do this to appear dangerous.

So I guess the obvious question is:

Why is the above not an exploit?

Because it's next to impossible for players to monitor and report to GMs, and it's even harder for GMs themselves to regulate.
