I agree, but would also like to add that the person's cans being hacked would either do a popup window and/or then enemy attacker would be added to kill rights menu stating there name and system where the hack is accouring so that you have a chance to get down their and save your contents without iterference from Concord. I belive to futher the main approach to the pvp side of the this game, someone trys to hack you then you have the right to shoot them down. You are what you do theirfor the material things witch you leave out in space are still apart of you and theirfor your only acting in self defence if someone is trying to rob you of a poertion of yourself.

Also eve mail stating where the hack accured and perhaps what was stolen so that we dont come by sometime and see its cone and blame CCP saying the game sucks cuase all their cans went missing. ( Ya happend to me once b4 I learned about ancoring your secure cans back when I first started haha) YARRRR!!

the most intelligent thing ive read on the subject of cans cluttering space includes the proposal of a secure can automatically unanchoring 1 month from the anchoring date, thus solving space polution. that way people can still post adverts and warnings at gates and miners can still mine. most cans cluttering space will never be picked back up or unanchored and that becomes a big problem for a solo miner.

Agree 100%
With small addition: Please dont touch cans in New Eden.
That system is pigrim's heaven and it will be shame to waste all those message cans :)

I don't like the idea of someone just coming by and being about to hack your can while you are warping back and forth to a station. The whole idea of secure cans is that they are secure.
How this is going to actually work:
Guy warps in starts hacking your can, while you are still loading it. By the time you go to the station wait the 30 sec to change ships and come back he has everything and is gone or has tossed it into his own container and warped away to get a battleship hoping you are gonna steal the ore back.

I would say after the can has been inactive for 1 week, or 2, you can have the option of hacking the can, if successful the can un-anchors. I also think a secure can should un-anchor after 3 or 6 months of inactivity. Basically if you leave cans that long you really don't need them any more.

Well.. you could first off make the time required for the device to be long.. (maybe longer than exploration?) with a specialized ship (with low cargo hold) being able to do the process faster.

Then on success, rather than open the can or destory the can, it converts the secure can to a jettisoned can, which would both lower the clutter and set a time limit that the hacker could be away from the can to get a larger cargo hold ship (if needed).

Also, doing it by date last active would make could make since.. maybe have CONCORD issue some sort of law that space junk left in space for more than 30 days becomes public domain...

As to skills, have the current skill deal with the length of time it takes to hack, and create a second skill (that's not required) that reduces the "determing how long the can has been abbandoned" deviation.
