Been happening to me too. Mainly through Stargates or on docking but sometimes seems to happen after looking at the map or market.

Fortunately I just ordered DDO... so just like when AO's bugs got on my nerves I tried Eve... Eve's bugs got on my nerves... tried DDO...

Hmmm. Perhaps I should learn something from this and just take up ice hockey again. At least when you get f*$KED off you can just beat someone up. ;)

I too am having random CTDs, mostly on an alt in empire, though sometimes on my main too; we actually had about half a gang of ~12 pilots crash out on jumping in a 0.0 op the other day, which was rather scary (though I did learn some new words on Teamspeak Shocked)! This CTD occurs on jumping, warping, undocking, picking my nose, etc. and I had about 40 crashes (with log files) in just 3 hours a few days back... that's more than one crash every 5 minutes.

I have also had some in-game "System Errors" while docked relating to unhandled exceptions in 'bluepy.py', 'menusvc.py' and 'tactical.py' to name just the ones I can see in a screenshot I took, which has a total of 7 "System Error" windows on it. Confused

This is a brand new install of Win XP SP2; after getting the drivers, utilities, etc. installed, Eve was the first big application on (downloaded the latest version from the website, and it hasn't had to patch since), and this problem was happening even then. I am running two 7800GTXs, though not in SLi mode for Eve (I can't wait until SLi supports multiple monitors!) and a Creative X-Fi soundcard, both of which are running the latest drivers. I tried clearing out the Eve cache, and I have tried screaming at my computer, but neither have helped Mad

Has anybody found a solution to this problem? Has CCP acknowledged the problem, and are they working on it, or should I send them my extensive collection of error logs?

Oh... And while I am here, I am running an AMD X2 processor and have to set affinity to a single processor in the task list every time I load Eve, otherwise I get very annoying jittering in stations; that's normally no problem, but when I have to reload Eve every 5 minutes, I really need a way to have it load on a single processor by default. Does anybody know how to do this please?

I'm strangely glad to see that it doesn't seem to be my computer thats' the problem, judging from what you're all saying. It's been happening randomly to me since I subscribed, and it didn't happen at all just before the patch (when I was on my trial subscription).

Someone told me there was a workaround somewhere in this forum. O.o;

/me concurs that the crashes he suffers on 1 PC nearly always happens as a result of an Avatar (agent, player etc ..) pic trying to load. Unfortunately switching this option off seems to have made no difference whatsoever though .. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.

the problem can be solved by going to the top sticky in this forum and following the instructions there. It fixed my problem.

Have to say that I have so far completely revamped my machine trying to get to the bottom of this.... I ran out of possible solutions late on Friday... with the crashes still happening, and yes I've tried replacing resFace.stuff and several other tweaks and still it crashes. Oddly, after several such crashes and even a BSoD from this, on Saturday afternoon I started EVE..when the server came up after DT.... it crashed 20mins ago for the first time since then.... the only change I made between it crashing every hour or so to not a single crash for close on 8 hours... I changed my password... that's it, nothing else. Now I have absolutley no idea what that might have done to where my account is in the account db or if that made a change to which blade my account was stored on, or anything. But to suddenly go from a week of crashing every 20mins to 2 hours... to not a crash for over 8 hours, is quite frankly rather odd considering I only changed my EVE password in the intervening period.

Im getting a CTD issue when I try to load a profile image as well, it only started happening after the release of the new patch. I cleared the cache (twice) then it happened again so i reinstalled the game, I tried logging in three times and each time it would CTD. On the fourth try however it logged in. I was so thankful that it worked i didn't even try trying to load a profile image and I just logged out.

P.S. Also having severe lock up issues after a few hours of play, and I've had this problem for forever, logging out and logging back in fixes the issue, it's just annoying and nearly got my Crusier destroyed once (lost two good drones though). Any advice on this crap?

Well ive contacted CCP with numerous petitions and they havent done a thing! I havent played the game in over 2 weeks because the CTD happened and i lost my ship, my implants etc. so i`m sitting in a clone bay at the moment doing a long training skill.
I even spoke to the CEO of CCP direct to get him to try and sort this problem out.
Looks like i wont be playing EVE ever again if they dont sort itCrying or Very sad

I had these problems too,
But after i had done everything possible it appeared to be my soundcard, you can always try and play without sound, I have just down the music slice to 0, this seems to solved my problem. Please report if this has helped you

Sometimes CTD can be caused by your graphics card if the settings you have in the game are too high. CTD (usually) occurs if there is insufficient memory either physical memory or your paging file.

Post some system specs for us.

Also, restart your comp, start Eve, right click taskbar and click task manager, select Performance tab and give us some stats when eve is running.

I'm another one of those people who has been experiencing the random crashing to desktop when undocking or jumping to another system.

Hmm...system specs? AMD 64 X2 3800+, two Geforce 6800 GT in SLI mode, on an Asus A8N-SLI Premium, 1GB of Kingston HyperX memory in dual-channel, page file set to normal standard, OS is XP Pro, and Eve running in Windowed mode (minimized to post this) is taking up around 20% while I'm in the Adreland system mining.

I would list all of the systems that I've CTD'd in, but I haven't been keeping track. It's happened definitely in both Oursulaert and Renyn that I can recall, both when undocking or when jumping in or out of those systems, and it's also happened in other systems, but as I said, I haven't been keeping track.

I'm getting CTD whenever I try to load a portrait picture too. I also CTD randomly. Without any warning at all the EVE Client just drops out, Sometimes I dont even realise for a couple of miutes until I look on my taskbar and realise EVE's not there.

My system specs are:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2793MHz
Display Card: Intel(R) 82865G
Memory: 1024MB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP
DirectX: 9.0c
Display Card Memory: 64MB
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit

I know my graphics card isn't compatible with EVE but it seemed to work fine before now.

Processor: AMD 2200+
Memory: 1GB DDR
Sound: SB Audigy 2
Graphics: Ati Radeon 9800 128MB DDR
Harddrive: 57.5GB partition with 27.5GB free with NTFS file system.

Been crashing loads so yesterday evening, after seriously considering cancelling the account cos I just can't play with all these crashes, I cleared my cache and still crashed. so I cleared the cache, screenshots folder, log folder, and anything else that looked remotely deleteable... started up eve yesterday evening... have yet to crash again. Therefore, I come to the conclusion that something that Eve is placing in the cache is royally ^%&$ing with my computer. If this is indeed the case then how does a person disable the in-game cache? There may be a setting for it, and I've probably looked at it a gazillion times while searching for it.... but you know how it is, sometimes when looking for something it can be in plain sight and you just don't see it.

I get the random CTD's as well when jumping systems or docking specs of this pc are: P4 3.2HT, 2 gigs of ram, intel 865pe chipset, audigy 2, ati 800xl all the drivers for every device in this system are the latest ones. I did notice that when I played the game on my other system which is an athlon 64, nforce 3 chipset and the same gfx card I don't get any crashes. I am wondering if this problem is unique to intel chipsets, it would help a lot if everyone posted what kind of motherboard chipset they are using.

No, it would seem more people with nforce 3 chipset and AMD 64 are experiencing these problems, so it doesn’t seem restricted to a certain chipset or CPU.

EvE's "LOGSERVER.EXE" USE IT

WINBLOWS "EVENT VIEWER" USE IT

Directx DiagDX USE IT

REVIEW ALL THREE LOGS FROM THESE THREE TOOLS

most of you are guessing...logs tell the truth

once you get those three logs open a petition and send them ALL to ccp with every piece of info about your crashing you can you think relates to it.

Hey Lividicus, I don't see this magic sticky post you people keep refering to at the top of this forum with all the answers. And to the guy who posted that dxdiag post, I used it to post my info, thank you very much and probably so did alot of other people. I've cache deleted, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, i've driver updated. I don't CTD when I load avatars anymore, no, I CRASH COMPLETELY, as in blue screen of death. So to all you IT know-it-alls out their with your dual xneon processors, dual graphics cards and 80 gigs of ram, could you please post some relevant information for us lay people so we could solve this problem without reverting to the age-old IT reboot-redriver-reformat bs?

Thank You

hi. i have CTD after i undock from the station. the text for warp, dock or any movement will not appear. if i dbl click in empty space my ship is not moving. after ~30 seconds i crash to desktop. i've created a new char to start a petition and left the station (unfortunately) so i had CTD on this char too. i've deleted the cache but it had no effect. i've reinstalled EVE and at least i could dock again. but after ~5 minutes (i've done nothing) my ship has left the station, warped back to the place where i crashed before i've reinstalled eve. so none of my chars are playable anymore.

oh btw. don't tell me that it's the fault of my graphic card or driver. i also have no problems with my router or a bad ping. it was all just fine to me. untill today. a very bad day :(
or do you really want to tell me that a bad graphic driver causes my ship to leave the station, warping to a place of... whereever? *cough*

there is something broken. :(ugh
help would be very very great, thanks

Finally found the sticky. All those intel folks who CTD when loading avatars, check the top forum post for info. It involves swapping the 3805 resfaceSTUFF file with the old 3796, there's a like to. Sorry for my noobness, but yeah that was still an uncool comment Lividicus.

You are running a supported card, are you crashing when you load avatars? If not then that post wasnt for you.

There are also known issues with the new 6.1 ATi drives, rolling back can fix the problem.

The thread you didnt see:

http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=278133

There are also people with the Athlon X-2 processor and people running the latest ATi drivers experiencing problems, none of these issues are actually issues with eve online, other than running graphics cards that dont meet the minimum system requirements, which CCP isnt responsible for.

Im here to help, so you can stop being a douche.

The sticky is for people with intel integrated graphics and other unsupported graphics cards that are having problems, please post more info about your system, and specifically what youre doing when you crash.

I believe you can mail them at [email protected] if you cant petition in game, make sure you detail exactly what your problem is, and your system config, and where you are stuck if that is relevant.

Can we get some more info on your system? I know from the VPU recovery error you would have an ATi card, and you are doing total windows restarts, not just crashing to desktop.

Are you overclocked?

Does your graphics card work fine in other games?

What driver are you using?
