Okay - so I've spent the prerequisite month training up for a coveter and am now happily mining away at a decent rate.

Now what? I'm happy enough mining in relatively safe space (0.5 upwards) for the time being - drones can take out anything rattish and ore theives are few - but what is the best way to mine and haul? My corp tends to be elsewhere and besides I'd much rather split the money with one or two other people rather than throwing it in the corp coffers, so where does one find a hauler? Or is it best to just jet can and haul for oneself (bearing in mind that my Badger has a cargo hold only slightly bigger than the barge itself)? Or is a freighter the way forward?

Help!

Well a freighter can't be loaded outside of a station, so all your ore has to be in a station to move it. Hope this helps.

just get a hulk and load it with local expanders, don't really need a hauler then

Nice idea. There's a little issue of skill learning and availability of hulk. How big is the cargo hold on one of those things? Anyone know where I can get one? Or even the price? There aren't any on any of the markets I've looked at.

Last I checked, Hulks are selling for 300m with a waiting list of over a month. Check the Sell Orders forum. I don't know the capacity, but you can check the item info in game.

With regards to mining/hauling, if I can't find a hauler I can trust, I have a Badger II fitted with cargo expanders in system. Holds a little over 10,000m3. I fill a can and then do 3 insta trips with the badger, then rinse and repeat.

A bestower (tier 1) with 4 expanded cargo Is will hold 9771 m3.
Easy train, good for hauling, and fairly easy to do on an alt.

Congrats the coveter, I still have 14d left of training to get mine Sad

I normally just jump in the retriever and fill up a jet can or two and then jump in my hauler and haul back to the station.
I use a Badger II with expanders and cargo containers, so I can haul about 13km3 of ores.

The only issue I have lately is trying to actually find any good roid fields? Not sure if the marco miners are killing them all or if it just there are a lot of miners now.

I'm a badger fan also, can hold about 15k m3 with expanders and cans. :)

However for the big hauls, use an ITERON V, according to a corpmate he can haul an entire 28,500 m3 with expanders and cans :) Can take it up to 32,000 m3 apparantly.

I have been using a I5 with reasonable expanders to get it to hold a jet can contents (27,500) the secret if any is to get to over 21k natural cargo cap so you can drop in 7 gaints giving you a a base 27,300+ you always a little bit over.

Its nice to mine a can then get a hauler in to grab it especially if your in 0.0
