IMHO these time card sales make all discussions about level 4 missions/piracy/cargo hauling/T2 blueprint sales/raising Cyber Gerbiles From Hell to sell to Sansha's Nation/whatever being "too easy ISK" utterly pointless, and in fact selling time cards almost *forces* people to find such easy-ISK sources to be able to compete.

i think its ever so slightly hypocritical to ban ebaying of account and isk, then turn around and say this is ok.

Why?

There is only so so much demand for Timecard.

ExclamationThere RL cash is going for CCP = all good and wellExclamation

The procedure is scamm free and suportted by CCP

we know that it disturbes ingame financial balance, but not as much as rampant Ebaying, as there is only so much you can earn in isk selling timecards, and much more you can buy from Ebay. 2 bil isk deals, anyone? Rolling Eyes

From two evils, i choos less evil - timecards

They are, still technikly property of CCP, and as such, trading them into another property of CCP(isk) is allowed by EULA! And monitored by CCP.

^^well if all you live for is pvp then fine lets just make all ships free and screw over the rest of people that dont think they should have to pay more than the subscription fee of a game to actually be able to play it in a worthwhile kinda way.
If you like pvp so much join fight club on the test server. Oh wait, no, you want an edge over people who actually work for their isk and now will have to in turn pay for more isk...cough*timecards*with rl money so they can compete.
Oh no now YOU have to pay for more "timecards" and thereby spend even more money until it just becomes IMPOSSIBLE for people to actually want to or even play this game because a mega costs you 52trillion isk or 7,419 time cards. If ever there was a time for a nerfbat on something this would be the time....../me looks around for tomb

although I fear banning timecard sales will drive up the 'black market' on ebay, from ISK farming macrominers/sweatshops.

It might, that's the problem. But legitimising it doesn't help.
Also, your character looks like he's wearing a wooly hat with a red bobbly thing on top from here :D.

I distinctly renember a dev saying that threads filled with "signed" would never work.

Well... I'm trying to get a clear picture as to what the majority of players here lean towards. As for what a dev would do with the info... thats not for me to decide.

How are you gonna do that.. Even if 1000 people post signed in this post its still just a very very little part of the number of accounts..

The majority wont be with you anyway on such a post as this so imo its like the devs say, pretty useless..

No - I dont see how it screws anyone over.

I am actually very poor in game. I have limited time to play it and as I said before when I do play I want to spend time doing what I find fun.

I dont get an edge on other people simply because I buy ISK - they have access to the very same ships and equipment I have - and believe me I die enough to know. In fact you could consider it a very effective form of wealth redistribution as I drop uber loot Wink

Take this example:
Is it right that a student who can dedicate 15hrs a day to playing EVE has an inherent finacial advantage over someone who because of RL circumstances can only play 2/3hrs? In one sense yes but from the 'equality' basis in which your arguing against GT cards then no...

Do I whine that as I can only play 2/3hrs a day that everyone should only play 2/3 hours a day also in order to make thing equal?

The fact is EVE has never been equal and never will be...

Its very simple. I can only play 2/3hr a day at most - sometimes not even that. The only bit of the game I enjoy is PvP. I do not enjoy the rest. Not saying it is wrong but simply that I dont enjoy it (been there and done all that). I do not want to spend my precious playtime doing things that I consider to be work.

I am willing to pay RL cash to avoid having to do that - simple.

If you want to earn your cash the hard way that is your perogative. Just stop whining about it.

Regarding your question on infaltion GT Cards do not have any effect. The ISK is already in the game. It is simply being moved from one account to another. IT ALREADY exists. My use of that ISK actually takes a lot of it out of the game everytime another one of my BS gets blown up Wink

If I did not have this option then I would not be playing EVE and then CCP would not be getting my cash from subscription and the GT cards I purchase - which I believe would be detrimental to CCP and everyone playing the game (as I am sure many are in the same boat).

So you play your game your way and leave me to play it my way...

i don't think the timecards is the problem. it's the abuse of it. you don't prohibit cars just because they are sometimes used to run people over. not everyone has a creditcard and many can't get one because of age or debt, etc

i would however like to see ccp do more about the ****ing cheaters.

However, I am FOR the buying and selling of isk for rl money. I just wish they would completly open the market rather than having a one trick route where ccp gets a cut. They should have real exchange rates to the USD and you should be free to make any transfers at any time. People could set up foreign exchange companies based on actual economical figures and take comission.

I thought threads like this were against forums rules after there was these huge threads where everyone were posting "signed". Much as I would like CCP stop game time card farming, but breaking forum rules or protesting in game when ever there is something you dont like shouldnt be way to go.

Well that being said... SIGNED Razz

Banning these methods is easy though but as several people have suggested, you would create a whole other market, where the customer of these ISK is not covered by the rules. As it is atm, buying gamecards is protected by the GM's, if you can prove you have bought a Gametime card from another player, yet have never received it despite your invoice ect, you can get your ISK back. You won't be able to if the person was an Ebay scammer. So this would create another problem.

Second problem would be players in 3rd world countries who are unable to get proper creditcards. In these countries only certain people can get a VISA or whatever, meaning the rest of the population are unable to order there. And the stores there haven't, for good reasons, got EvE timecards for sale, meaning the person who has an account is unable to play without being able to farm isk and paying this way. So if you remove this, this person won't even be able to buy via E-bay because that requires VISA or a creditcard, therefore you're stealing this persons chance for playing.
