I'm beginning to get into covert ops, and through some research and a discussion with a GM, there are no current Covert Ops Agents... It was expressed that they hadn't though of what kinds of missions they would be able to make. Here are a few of my suggestions...

I was thinking that doing covert missions would be cool.

The kinds of missions I was thinking of right off hand would be the
following:

1: Moving illegal goods. As is my understanding that if you are cloaked you will not be scanned at the gates and can get the goods from place to place. Such items required to be moved could be tags; drugs such as Nerve Sticks
and Blue Pills; and other items such as small arms. Mission would be to move them from place to place without getting caught...

2: Surveillance. At the begining of many deadspace missions we are told that they know of a sercret base and that there are only 5 or 6 enemies in it. How do they know? Another type of mission would be to fit a scanner that agent provides (and requires back) and to go through a deadspace complex and scan each area so they know what is there. That way they can organize a strike against them...

3: Retrieval. Say in a complex that is guarded by several sentries (insane ammout) plus several battleships. The story of the mission could say "this complex is too heavily guarded for a regular assault at this time, but we need this item returned to us immediately." The idea would be to go in cloaked and either place a device, or retrieve something out of a can...

4: Spotter. Have the agent say that they have a strike prepared, but they need to warp in right on top of them, not at a distance. So my job is to go a set distance on the other side of a fleet and then contact my agent, that
way they can warp to me and end up right on top of the enemy group. Bonus to this is we could get to see a couple npc ships attack eachother...

5: Hold'em. Idea of this is you have a big battleship in system, and you need to go in and warp jam and disrupt thier sensors so that they can be delt with. Again, we would get to see a couple npc's have at it...

Now because these missions can be a bit simplier than normal kill missions, for the upper levels we would need to make it harder (to earn the higher pay from them). To do this, we could incorporate several functions in one
mission. Say a level 3 mission would require you to travel 6 jumps to retrieve an illegal scaning system so that you can bring it back to do surveillance. (again, the scanning system is required to be returned in order to complete the mission. And should be of no use outside the mission to prevent theft)

Any more Idea's or Comments? Just seems covert ops isn't a very big part of the game...

interesting. maybe make the player have to take a more active part in the mission - ie, assassinate this ship, retrieve this cargo, help jam/scramble a bs AND help destroy the inc frig support etc

More missions are always a good thing. Less tedium! :)

have to make sure you setup the missions within the limits of what a covert ops ship can do...

Moving illegal goods...

Smuggling missions would nicely complement the 'black market' skill. I hope it's only a matter of time before this is implemented.

aiding the black market would be cool also...

it may also even help the player transport missions, cuz more people may be inclined to have covert ops to move stuff...

signed with NPC covert ops ships coming in as well perhaps some sort of stealth bomber missions could be introduced as well
