Hi there,

I’m MrBlades, senior DJ and Station Deputy Director of EvE Radio. I’m not good on pleasantries and introductions, so I’ll just let you watch this holoreel for a moment before I get to the point.

“… A little over twenty six standard months ago EvE Radio began broadcasting a low quality pirate signal to a few hundred thousand of citizens from a Rickety Badger Mark II in close orbit of a nameless moon deep in the Hrokkur system. By hacking into any number of low priority FTL relay communication networks not deemed important enough to be constantly monitored by CONCORD’s Communication Relay Committee, early EvE Radio DJ’s touched the lives of the rebellious and impressionable youth dwelling within Minmatar Republic systems and introduced them to a form of retro entertainment extremely popular prior to the EvE Gate collapse.

Aided by a growing cult following, EvE Radio soon found itself to be broadcasting to curious, more distant territories. It found an eager audience within the Gallente Federation and in the space of a few short weeks news of this retro style of entertainment found it’s the way to the ears of Caldari and Amarr border colonists.

As word and popularity spread, EvE Radio found itself being approached by nationals from all races interested in grabbing some “air time” to bring their own brand of “non government sanctioned” entertainment. Hot on the heels of new DJ’s came sponsorship and hefty ISK donations from the growing Capsular community. This quickly allowed EvE Radio to expand it’s operations and reach out further into the world at large, bringing fame and fortune to the DJ’s but also exposing the station to corporate and political dangers not anticipated in the beginning.

By EvE Radio’s fourth month of operation, It had reached an audience of several million – vastly outstripping the growth of conventional entertainment forms most popular in the Gallente and Caldari worlds and spurning a number of copy cat operations from enthusiastic wannabe’s. However the turning point in EvE Radio’s operations was when they had finally roused the suspicion of CONCORD’s CRC who began to pay special attention to the stations illegal broadcast capability.

Although operating outside of CONCORD policed territory, the CRC maintained local government FTL systems, which EvE Radio utilised to propagate its broadcast streams. It quickly became difficult to hack into certain FTL relay networks. Ignored back doors were quickly locked shut, old network systems rapidly rerouted; even bandwidth throttling was employed to impair the quality of the stations streams.

Of course, EvE Radio was not without it’s friends, and despite their activities being technically illegal, CONCORD was powerless to act pro-actively outside of 0.5 systems and local government were reluctant to take exceptional action against the perpetrators – especially considering the hefty fines levied against the DJ’s were swiftly paid thanks to the good will of many pod pilots. Even so, it became necessary to find alternative broadcast and relay means and thanks to heavily subsidised private FTL hosting systems, EvE Radio was able to once again broadcast disruption free to an even greater audience than before.

Eventually, however, it was a different kind of corporate entity that managed to exploit the recent empire sanctioned wide area broadcast charter that forced radical changes to the way EvE Radio operated.

Tired of the failings of both CONCORD and Hrokkur local system officials, a Caldari and Amarr sponsored branch of CONCORD’s CRC entered the fray not with guns, fines or stellar interference, but with lawyers and bundles of red tape.

Enter the R.I.A.E – The Recording Industry Association of EvE and it’s amended “Pre collapse” music and copyrighted audio/video material legislation.

Until recently, the R.I.A.E held the monopoly of the rebroadcast of copyrighted material produced since the EvE Gate disaster and insured that suitable royalties were paid to the artists responsible for the works. This was strictly enforced and insured that the families of those artists dead a millennia were kept in enough ISK to keep them comfortable for generations to come.

Since EvE Radio specialised in the rebroadcast of “Retro” Pre Collapse audio/video and original content it was considered outside of the R.I.A.E’s sphere of influence. Sadly, due to the recent ratification of the Pre Collapse legislation (Rumoured to have been pushed through CONCORD by nervous Gallente and Caldari entertainment mega corps) EvE Radio now found itself faced with having to pay extortionate licensing fee’s to continue it’s broadcasts to the amount of 0.007 ISK per song, per concurrent listener.

Quickly, it became apparent that broadcast fees like these would shut EvE Radio down if it didn’t find an alternative means of generating income as listener donations itself could not sustain it indefinitely.

Fortunately, a coalition of experienced business men and women came to the aid of EvE Radio and devised a means whereby they could continue to broadcast and pay the extortionate licensing fee’s demanded by the R.I.A.E.

Thus, 5 months after it’s initial inception the first EvE Radio Corporation (Named, oddly enough, EvE Radio Corp) was founded by the stations shadowy founded – A Caldari known simply as Mr EvE Radio.

Strangely, EvE Radio Corp’s headquarters were based deep within Caldari space, which would later (for financial reasons) be abandoned along with the original corp due to excessive office taxation, rental fee’s and a curiously high expense account that obliterated corporate funds. Needless to say, Mr EvE Radio was nowhere to be found and never became available for comment.

Filing for bankruptcy and immediately shutting down operations, EvE Radio vanished from the airwaves and both the worried Gallente and Caldari entertainment mega corporations and CONCORD’s R.I.A.E patted themselves smugly on the back.

Sadly for them, the capsular community refused to let EvE Radio die and after a few weeks of sponsored corporate mining and bounty hunting operations, presented the EvE Radio remnants with a huge cheque to allow them to rebuild from scratch.

And so, under the leadership of then senior DJ Doby, the new and improved EvE Radio Corporation was founded in Reset, back in Minmatar Republic territory in the Metropolis region.

This time, however, the stations senior managers took direct control over the daily goings on with the corporation so excessive expense accounts could not be abused so no single individual could ever again bring the station to it’s knees again.

Since that time, EvE Radio has prospered, it’s popularity reaching new, dizzying heights and it’s legendary DJ’s becoming household names on a thousand worlds cluster wide. Sponsored by dozens of capsular and terrestrial corporations, its income has always exceeded its expenses and to this day EvE Radio continues to flourish ….”

Ok, sounds good doesn’t it? Mostly it is, but there have been recent changes, which have prompted this unofficial dispatch in the Summit. I bring it to you – the capsular community – as we at EvE Radio recognise you as being the reason why we are here today.

Right, to the point. You may or may not be aware that we have recently been the victim of several unsavoury smear campaigns by several corporations we suspect are based in Gallente, Amarr and Caldari territories. I’m not at liberty to discuss the finer points or in fact name any names, but it doesn’t take too much brainpower to work out who would stand to profit most from destabilising EvE Radio. I’m sure if you take a look around recent Summit discussions you may well get an inkling as to where some of these “alleged” campaigns are coming from. No, no finger pointing from me – I’m not saying a word. Let’s just say we have our sources and leave it at that.

Anyway, apart from those underhand efforts, we have recently run into difficulties in our corporate HQ in Reset. Namely station blockades, random office demonstrations, the odd defacing of property, billboards, occasional mugging of staff etc – nothing major but certainly alarming enough to make us consider the wider implications of these attacks.

Here’s a major one for you.

We rely heavily on donations as we are purely a non-profit organisation. Sure, we are all on the payroll, fly expensive ships and have a tidy little nest egg stashed away when it’s time to hit the old DJ’s home, but nothing so extortionate that would qualify us as anything other than non profit. No, really – not joking here. Hand on my heart true.

Cough.

Right anyway, point is, these recent “alleged” smear campaigns have begun to scare off some of our corporate sponsors. Not a major problem most of the time as we can usually find replacements eager to have their corp logo branded on our crap. However, at the moment we’re also finding our listener figures growing at a faster pace than we have been used to these last few months.

“Why is that a problem?” I hear you ask. Well, again, normally it wouldn’t be – except that some of our recent and notably generous activities have begun to chip away at corp coffers and we have projections that suggest we might take a little longer than expected to recoup losses, yadda yadda yadda … Im not good with numbers, I just shout a lot and look important.

Anyway, that by itself still isn’t an issue. The big one, and lets be honest, the one that could kick us in the happy sack and ruin all our days is the R.I.A. friggin E’s attempts to snap an extra 0.002 ISK onto the royalty fee’s at the end of the fiscal year which – if certain elements have their way – would add an additional, ah, well lets just say a LOT more onto our expenses.

Enough to bury us, once and for all. Forever and ever and ever. The End.

So anyway, we don’t really want that to happen. We cant up our sponsorship fee’s or bum more ISK from rich, happy go lucky capsular pilots, so we’re going to have to rethink our strategy for generating a serious income to maintain us for the future.

That’s why I would like to announce – to you – the people who put us here in the first place, that EvE Radio Corporation is abandoning it’s non profit organisational ways and is heading off to territories unknown to make ourselves a fortune.

Yup, that’s right, we’re moving out. Packing up our troubles and heading out of Reset to our new HQ in Gukarla. Once we get there, we’re going to begin active recruiting from the capsular community and we’re going to make some serious dough so we can keep those R.I.A.E at bay and keep on doing what we love – and that’s whining, dining and whoring while telling all you good folks about it. Yes sir, we gotten used to this life and me and the rest of the boys won’t be giving it up without a fight.

So, ah, anyway, that’s the main point. What we will need is a means of moving ALL of our equipment, staff and resources from Reset to our cheaper rent HQ in Gukarla. I wanted to pitch it to you guys before the “official” press release goes out as I know some of you personally and you’ve always said “If there’s anything you ever need Blades, give me a shout” – so here it is.

Now, there’s a helluva lot of gear to move. So much in fact it’s going to take around a week to move it all from point A to point B. We’ve looked at the InterBus rates and found them to be somewhat exaggerated considering what’s being moved. Im guessing it’s the route through low sec space that is worrying the insurance people – oh god don’t get me started on that – but Im thinking if enough capsular pilots got involved overall it wouldn’t cost as much.

At any rate, the courier mission expenses rewards will be well worth it to any industrious pilots and many missions will be placed per day for those that want to take advantage of some easy money. There will, of course, be some major movements which will require a small fleet of interested parties to begin the journey at set times throughout the move period.

Now, Im not going to tell you that it will be a cakewalk 100% of the time. As mentioned earlier, there are certain elements out there that would like nothing more than to see us go belly up and fail in our efforts to move – so Id be careful about loading expensive crap onto your ships unless you are capable of defending it. Hey, maybe some of you could fly escort for some of the haulers?

Right, that’s enough from me for now. I’ll throw some more info at you once I’ve spoken to the corporate guys about the logistics of the operation. If you have any questions, comments or just want to say hi to you’re favourite DJ, feel free to pipe up.

I have always liked DJ Doby.

I stopped listening a while back when the bias of the other DJs annoyed me enough to turn it off, that and donating isk to a DJ for a request which then was only played for about 3 seconds of the song and then the song was turned off and I was insulted for liking that kind of music.

It is your radio so spin and make propaganda and rob who ever you want, but I can always exercise free choice and turn the dial and not donate isk.

cheers

I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where I was asking you for your hard earned ISK. However I do remember offering sizeable ISK rewards for pod pilots willing to assist us in the moving of our corporations staff, equipment and other assets.

If you feel you have been hard done by, I suggest you register a complaint to our Human Resources department. Either that or improve your taste in Pre Collapse retro music.

"Improve your taste in music." How does that work? If someone thinks a song is awful it's awful. Now there's some music that people request a lot on another radio station I listen too, and I think it's awful but I tried your suggestion of "Improving my taste" so I put on a happy face and said "This is like daggers cutting through my ear drums but I like it!" and then I put the song I didn't like the most on continuous repeat and listened to it over and over hoping I would eventually beable to ascend to the higher spiritual plane of musical taste that so many were privledged too.

Unfortunately it resulted in me throwing my Ergonics device clear across the room after I just couldn't take it anymore. You can't tell anyone what music they need to like, don't try. Just tell them not to listen to your radio station, if they don't like what you play, you don't need them as listeners right?

Not true, all you need to do to improve your musical taste is to invest in a little technological rewiring of your brain to overcome this deficiency. You of all people should applaud the marvels of modern technological advances which can readily assist with this rare condition. Listener figures in the Khanid Kingdom have gone through the roof as of late.

Coincidence?

Sorry cupcake, perhaps I should explain using small, easy to digest chunks of info as you are obviously struggling with the big picture here.

The previous post was an announcement, bringing the current situation with EvE Radio Corporation to the publics attantion. We're moving offices, need a number of pod pilots to move our gear and we are paying them well for this service.

As for the music tastes, hell, we're an eclectic pre collapse radio station. We don't do current Minmatar tribal chants or Gallente vippy-trippy-troppy rubbish. We're all about the 21st century baby!

Yeah I know, pre collapse music isn't mainstream, but we got a nice big niche and our market share going up and up and up. Trust me, your kids will love it even if you're too "square" to keep up with hot trends.

I agree about the Rosa thing tho. We podded that guy.

Within the last few minutes a vicious attack has been perpitrated on current CEO DJBaggins of EvE Radio Corporation while he was attending to his lawful duties in the Taff system of the Metropolis region.

Whilst shuttling from station to former HQ in Reset he was executed in flight by no less than three members of the outlawed BLACK HOLE INC. corporation whilst making way to the exit stargate.

It goes to prove, once again, that there are those out there who would see harm to our corporation and that we do indeed live in dangerous.

We would like to call upon all outraged pod pilots frequenting the Anglis constellation of the Metropolis region to be on the look out for this corporation and advise special care when approached by either NitroBlood, Warhound or Godiva - for they may see your shuttle as another potential threat to their continued existance.

Despite this minor setback, EvE Radio Corporation shall continue it's efforts to relocate to it's new HQ and our logistics department is almost ready to begin assigning pod pilots to their courier duties. We expect to begin shipments early next week.

Oh and for those interested, DJBaggins is recovering nicely in his brand new clone. We were all getting tired of the old one and we welcome his most recent incarnation with open arms.

At the very least, this one smells better and his feet appear less hairy.

5 battleships for one shuttle, god damn what a waste of firepower on a target of no value and of no perticular importance. I'm glad to see that pirates have recovered from the possible good press of major corp theft and striking at targets that might possibly be worth destroying for profit, to once again destroying shuttles and barely armed cargo ships. As for the pod kill, what possible motivation is there for that? Last time i checked Baggin wasn't exactly well up on the bounty list, if he even had one.
