I'm planning on reboarding my loft this weekend (fun), just wondered if anyone had any tips. |

I hope there is no snow in my loft! The actual reason is, when we moved in the previous occupiers had boarded the loft, then taken up the boards, leaving us to half-screw back the dodgy old chipboards. Which are now cracked under the weight of my wife's ****.  Now, two years on, more ****, and promise of some TFT's at some point; we need to reboard it. So I am going to spend a fun and hot weekend pulling all the old boards up and relaying new ones. Only thing is, the previous occupiers also put some 2x4" beams at right-angles to the original joists. So every 6ft you have to step up.  |

If youve got 2x4 s down in places, get some more so that your floor will be level, also remember to run them at 90 degrees to the direction of the roof beams so that the weight is distributed more evenly.
Remember to check your loft insulation before you cover it over as well, if its been leaked into itll change colour which is a good indicator of if there is a leak in your roof.
Get plenty of light into the area your working in.
And if youve got a loft window, open it, you'll appreciate the fresh air. |
