OK, without wanting to get to stressed about the whole thing, this has gone on LONG enough.

I have so nearly been podded more times than I care to remember by getting stuck in the promixity of a roid and only being able to move at about 10m/s. If I engage my warpdrive NOTHING happens, and it can take several minutes to make warp (if at all). Afterburners help a little, but not much....

Please please please CCP can you TALK to your playerbase about the status of this issue, as it is killing gameplay.

Why is it happening?

When are you likely to fix this?

Are there any workarounds? (and DON'T say stay away from roids). I've warped right into the middle of roid fields before and been stuck instantly - so what are we meant to do about that???

This same issue also exists (although to a slightly lesser degree) with stations...

I REALLY want to keep liking this game, but there are SO many issues like this one that have been around since beta, and do NOT seem to be fixed, or even likely to be fixed anytime soon.

Its GLARING bugs like this one that need to be fixed straight away, as they have a huge impact on gameplay.

I suspect that is has something do do with the way ship velocity is caculated in the game engine, especially when taking into account other strange velocity issues, such as engaging a AB or MWD to enable you to turn quickly - it seems DECREASING speed as well as increasing speed is affected by these devices, thus allowing you to make crazy-speed turns.....but again, that is a seperate issue.

Please CCP, take some time to read YOUR forums, and give players the bugfixes they NEED to enjoy this game. (especially when, if I did loose a ship from this bug, the chances of you reimbusing me in any way shape of form would be NIL - based on other peoples experiences).

Stop sorting out the little things, and adding (almost) pointless content, and FIX the BIG issues - or if you are unable to so, then at least own up and admit it.

Apologies if this post sounds overly negative, it is not meant to be, - but after having nearly lost my Moa on 3 seperate occasions last night to this bug, I'm sure you can understand my reason for posting....

Hmm.... 20 people read this and not one thinks its a problem?.....

I don't know what he have to do to get CCP to sit up and fix CRITICAL issues.....

as if being a paying beta tester was not bad enough........

I so want to keep liking this game, but its getting harder :(

not sure if it is a problem

mining 1 laser can fire from 10km away,
dual diode from 11

I see it happen as well, when you leave a station .Warp drives are very powerfull, so maybe the point here is not to go so damn close to the asteroids your mining maybe?

Of course I avoid roids where possible to prevent this from happening, but the problem really comes when you warp into a belt, and depending on the angle that you approach the belt from you can arrive right in the MIDDLE of the roids, and be stuck straight away, unable to move at anything greater than about 10 m/s, and getting pummled by pirates..... NOT good.

I've never had a problem with this.

Every time I get stuck on a roid, I turn 90 deg and I'm unstuck.

At least we aren't going right through asteroids.

Usually, even if I'm REALLY close to a roid, "Stop my ship" and hitting warp from a full stop usually works well. Warping from stop = instawarp.

Are you in a cruiser ?

I never get stuck on anything in my indy or my fleet of frigates. But if I am in my Blackbird, I get stuck on everything. Not so much on asteroids, but it has happened. Stations are a nightmare.

But does not seem to happen in any of my frigates or in my indy, just when I am in my cruiser.

Stopping works . . . addtionally you can hit your afterburners or MWD and power yourself out of the asteroids. I'd actually like to hear an explaination of this from someone in charge . . . the way it works seems like it is intentional (i.e. the asteroids have gravity, or your ship has to slow down to compensate for maneuvering around the roids).

I get a similar problem with stations. I get stuck moving only at a very slow pace. Usually fireing up afterburners or a micro warp drive jolts me loose. Don't know if that helps you though, but it's worth a try.

>>>At least we aren't going right through asteroids.<<<

we are....... and right through peoples ships sometimes too. though i havent done this in a while, maybe it was fixed in the patch? is that what you mean?

I've not had this often but I got stuck to the station recently when heading into warp. I couldn't issue any orders and it took ten minutes for the dumb ship to inch its way through two station walls before properly activating warp. Please fix!

I have been saying collision detection without smart piloting AI that goes around obstacles was a bad idea since it was implemented.
I've also nearly lost ships to this problem.

Its called gravity punch the ABs and point your ship up and you will wiggle out of it. NEVER NEVER EVER use your warp drive while in the gravity well of a large roid. Bad idea.

thought it was funnie.

not yours, but mine last night. we group mining. 1 guys say look at that huge Scrodite rock over there. it is 200km away and fills half of screen. heck even the moons are smaller. so all warp over. I came last as was waiting for indies to get last of ore in pods. so was late in arriving
I warp to my gangmates. or so I think, and OMG am stuck in gravity well. am not even 20km from this beast and my mates are on far side. so I claw my way out, warp to sun. come back. same thing. so I point ship straight up. clawing my way up. got full mwd going. 1400m/s and am inching. like I am moving at only 10m/s but engines are putting out 1400m/s thrust. when I broke loose was like coming out of cannon.
all the guys mining and a couple others that came to watch are laughing so hard they forgot empty to thier holds. all thoughts of mining are gone. hahahaha it is watch the Dragon climb the rock wall

needless to say that rock is gone for now. but yes this can be an issue. and is really bad when you notice the pirates don't have same restrictions as you do in the gravity well.

Good luck avoiding the asteroids... Your only real option if you don't want to fall victim to this is to just avoid the belts all together..

As so many people have proudly spouted before, EVE is not a twitch fighter.. that being so, the controls aren't super responsive, and avoiding large asteroids in belts with good ore means you do one of two things:

1) Avoid the belt entirely
2) Travel so slowly in the belt that you can maneuver reasonably, thus taking 5 minutes to approach your target

So yes, please, someone who knows what is going on PLEASE tell us once and for all if this is a bug, and if it isn't, why is it implemented in a game that has very sluggish controls at best?

It's waaaaay too difficult to avoid large asteroids for them to intentionally be sucking us in like this (I had one reach out and grab me from 20k once.. pulled me right in like a magnet.. I had started my warp drive, and as my ship turned, it slid across space and stuck on an asteroid.. sat there for about 4 minutes
before finally warping... ab going the whole time..)

I've lost two cruisers to this bug, and would love to know what CCP intends to do about it, if anything... or at the very least, would like to know if it is intended for asteroids to act this way.

The only solution is to avoid all asteroid belts and all stations. Please, do it for the children.

Learn to fly your ship and mine properly.

The effects of large things in space like asteroids interfere with a ships ability to warp. So.. when something you want to run from apears it's important not to be to close to something that can keep you from warping.

It's that whole isk vs reward thing and it this can be mitigated by skill.

I get this problem with certain types of stations, particularly those with lots of pointy bits on them.

Basically if I have to dock at such a station, the game remembers that location, so when I next jump into the same system I end up next to that station, and I get stuck to it.

Undocking is no problem, as you normally undock at speed and are away from it, but jumping in puts you slap bang in the middle at 0 m/s, it sometimes takes two minutes after engaging warp for me to clamber my way out and get underway.

Usually I have to pick a clear LOS to another station, warp to it and dock, then the "cache" is reset to the better station, otherwise it takes 3-4 minutes to get through that system.

So you're saying a 1 in 100,000 (?) chance of losing your ship or suffering a 10 minute delay when you undock from station and try to warp is acceptable. Its not a CCP problem, to play carefully everyone should pilot out until they are 10km distant? Mmmmkay.
