So we all know it what happens if CCP deploys an new patch, bugs occuring as usually to expect most the time and peoples start to rage about them, not beeing either to play completely or having to suffer heavily under them until an bugfix will get deployed from the Devs.

So what to do to keep at least some of them still happy and beeing a bit patient again simple idea here is something CCP wont even cost a dime or anything else then just to make some clicks on their Server menu or panel or whatever it calls, give everytime you deploy an new patch 50 - 100k free distributable SP's to all active accounts in the game so the peoles will probably less raging and get angry, also this amount wont be a gamebreaker at all due to its small amount, but some players will still be happy to have a somewhat compensation for their frustration and anger they can do somewhat with in game and is productive for them.

even its a small amount of SP's saving players a few hours of skilling to keep them calm they can distribute those points as they want or keep them could be a good idea showing your customes that you still care about them.

So that's my idea, flame away forum trolls or add some more ideas as you want, but please try to keep the discussion tone somewhat Civilizated.

No horrible idea and won't stop people from raging.

You know the best thing that CCP can do is to take all those bug reports they ignore on the test servers, actually read them and fix the bugs on the test server before releasing them on the live server. Every bug that is being reported on live today as a result of this patch was already reported on the test server dozens of times. All these bug existed in test and they now exist in live. The community is raging because everyone is aware of that fact, both CCP and the community. Thats how you keep people from raging about patch bugs and downtimes.

I would say this one is the answer.

Rather than give a few extra SP to each Player who gets screwed around by the lack of testing, QA, or bug fixing, it would be better to actually fix the bugs during testing and QA.

Come on CCP - whether this is actually driving people away from EVE or just driving them up the wall - please try testing, finding the bugs .........

...... AND THEN FIXING THEM!!!! Wink

Here's my idea for CCP to make people happy again:

Put some real effort into finding out how your customers actually use your product and how it works. Then drop the flim-flam and spin, and put some serious effort into making that better, without stupid "This would take six months" excuses for not doing 12-hour projects that hundreds or thousands of your customers have been begging you to do for months or ever years.

Less :awesome:
More :competent:

Oh, and to induce some real joy, actually fix bugs that are reported on SiSi rather than just CTRL-A -> SHIFT+DEL each day's bug reports as you do at the moment. Or if fixing them is just too hard, at least acknowledge & document them so people know they have to work around them and how to do so.

**** you people and your shallow "Gimme SP and everything will be OK". Eve only needs to do 3 things to make people happy:

1) Allow "Automatically disembark from ship when docked" checkbox;
2) Show some progress on WiS. We'd love to see what the other races' CQs are going to look like, for instance.
3) Introduce more varied and flavourful clothes into the NEX. At the moment there really isn't any point in buying from the NEX since most of the clothes features barely differ from stock selections we get by default and none really allow people to express any overt uniqueness. Have a range of both "serious" and "silly" options (HATS).

They were a lot happier during empyrian age, and other expansions. Incarna is a whole other division.

Not nearly the same people are likely playing this game as they were then... have to take subscription churning into account.
I pop show info on people extremely frequently, and lately I have seen very few (few being relative to my frequency of hitting show info) accounts older than '09, and a substantial amount of them are '10 players for whatever reason.

Now, I am not saying my rather limited manual data mining means much, but I have always done this ^ while pushing paper in a station and esp. in trade hubs and I used to see different results, sure there were still plenty of newer players than older players, but now I'm rarely if ever seeing those older players, at least older than a few years.

Take of that what you will.

Maybe the people that left did so because they were unhappy themselves, who knows... after four or five years in an MMO you get to where you have seen and done a lot of it, even in EVE, so sometimes boredom sets in, especially in this last stretch where little has really changed in the game for 18 months now.

What CCP needs to do to make the majority of their people happy is to stop saying "We care", "We're sorry", "We want to improve", "We value your input" and then doing the complete opposite. If they're not going to change how they operate they just need to stop communicating at all, stop eliciting the communities assistance and then ignoring everything that comes from it. Complete and utter silence would serve CCP better than what it is they do now.

The bugs in the latest patch, on SiSi for months with user feedback. Nothing was done about it. Rinse and repeat for the last couple of years.

The NeX, MT philosophies aside, was probably the biggest punch in the gut. They actually developed content that they purposely used to exclude a majority of their customers. Well, the simple fix for that would have been to include the expensive items as well as easily affordable items. Would have stymied all but the most principled complaints.

Honestly, with all the "missteps" CCP makes I can only conclude that they enjoy the rage on the forums. Seriously! There is nothing that has occurred in the last 2 years to create rage that couldn't have been avoided with virtually no cost solutions and forethought.

People don't want free stuff. People want to not be jerked around which is exactly what CCP does repeatedly.

Ding ding ding ding We have a Weener here.

This is it in a nutshell. There really is no excuse for all the screw ups that have been happening of late.

Pushing known game breaking bugs to a live environment is just unprofessional. Understand I'm not one of these "omg why can't you released perfect software?" people, I understand that some problems just don't show up in a test environment, this is just part of business. The problem is these haven't been bugs that only became visible once live, these are issues that were observed and reported during testing and should have been show stoppers until resolved.

Modules offlining and charges poofing is not a minor thing. I didn't even bother logging in last night because I frankly didn't feel like dealing with issues that are this game breaking.

If CCP actually paid attention to what we SAY they would be more satisfied with what we DO.

Oh and give me back my unlimited saved fittings and restore the tool's ability to fit rigs already.

Heres whats going to happen instead;

CCP will make business decisions based on financial numbers on their side from past experience and numbers from other MMO's based on their history. They will then make a business plan based on those numbers that is focused on making the most possible income, as that is their number one ethical responsibility to their share holders. They will not consider your happiness, they will consider your money.

If they do not follow said course of action they will eventually fail.

+1, pretty much this ^

Anyone that thinks CCP is obligated to consider their feelings is under an illusion.

CCP is obligated to consider your subscription, whether they actually do consider your feelings and sentiments is secondary.
If given the choice between their company and your feelings, you really think they will choose you?

Do you also think a famous musician or athlete is obligated to share their personal lives with you because you pay for tickets to their shows and games? You pay them for the entertainment value, whether they care if you live or die is inconsequential to everyone but you.

Horrible idea;

People complain because they can and there are other people that are never happy/satisfied with everything thrown at them. I don't want to explain anymore.

Considering the player base's happiness is considering the player base's money.

In fact any business decision that does not consider customer satisfaction is a poor business decision.

A game is not a necessity for survival like food water or shelter, it isn't something we're legally obligated to maintain like insurance. It's a choice and dissatisfied customers can and do chose not to use a service.

the people who care about the future of EVE, the gaming ideals, cannot be bribed.
If they could be bought out, then they didn't really care for the game in the first place

If CCP wants to make people happy, they better start implementing things players demand in Assembly Hall and Features discussion - game balance changes and new space ship things.

It most certainly is not good sir. People come here and illustrate how unhappy they are with everything from troll alts to rick rolls to my little pony. And continue to pay CCP. Everyday.

Some people are not satisfied unless they are *****ing, it is an indisputable fact of life.
