This isn't actually a troll thread. It's serious, genuine advice.

Look, here's the thing. The people who complain the most are usually the ones who care the most. If we didn't care we wouldn't complain. We love Eve (or what Eve stands for, or what Eve is trying to be) and we hate the direction it's going. And we want it to be good. We really, really do.

Here's the thing. When Hilmar said to listen to what we do and not what we say, this is what he was talking about. As far as CCP (and in fact most businesses) are concerned, a paying customer is a happy customer. It doesn't matter how much we shout or scream or complain. If we're still giving them money, then.. that's that.

You will be told you are a vocal minority. You will be told that nobody will miss you. Maybe it's true. But that's not the point. The point is that withholding your money is ultimately worth more than anything else you can do. It is worth more than the rants and the screams and the smartbombing outside Jita and the protests and the shooting of the monument. The fact is, you do not have much power. The most damaging thing you can do is stop giving them money. It's also the most painful thing to do, because you care about Eve, and you want to keep playing Eve, and you want it to get better and see it get better.

Change takes time. Sometimes the only way to make that change is a steady bleed of subscribers and a stream of bad press. But you have to look deep within yourself, and decide.

Do you care enough about Eve to stop giving CCP your money?

Or are you fine with where Eve is going?

Because as far as CCP is concerned, those are the only two options.

There is the third and the most widespread option: Players that are paying subscriptions and don't like where Eve is going and thus posting feedback (sometimes in forms of rage, rants, etc.) that could be used to identify the problems with the game if anyone cared enough to look.

That's where all those players that don't like the current state of the game come. Wink

It seems that so far this thread is full of people who support CCP and have no complaints about their current direction.

That's cool, I can respect differences of opinion.

I complain cause this is teh only game I play and I have higher expectations for it.
If I wanted to play something else I would but I dont cause I believe in this regardless of the short time I have been allowed to spend on eve with out any technical interruptions.

I believe in this goddamned Iv even uploaded to EvE is real.

so because it is real I will deal with it as I would if another corp tried to steal my money through faulty software.

F'ing riot.

Imagine in RL they gave you a mining barge thats glitchy and in space, how many ppl would die during RL mining ops? hundreds!

Playing for 'free' with isk purchased PLEX is a 3rd option. PLEX makes it easier to give CCP another 18 months.

I would be curious as to how many accounts would go completely inactive if PLEX could no longer be bought with isk.

Investors and corporate decision makers look at bottom lines.

As the OP said: if you really want to try to change something stop paying - if you are in the majority, it may work.

Though if you just need to blow steam do it, but don't clog up the forums absolutely.

I, for my part, will continue paying, and will pay more each time something nice appears on the NEX.

I stopped paying months ago. Some noob with some extra money is paying for my accounts. Laughing
If you wonder why GTC's are climbing, this is part of it.

Unless there is a big change in the direction of CCP, I doubt that I will ever pay for the game again. At current prices I could play for years before I ran out of isk, longer if I count on passive income plus what I could make casually. Of course, this time would shorten with further inflation, but it doesn't worry me much. There are many things I enjoy in this game, but it just seems like CCP is into fluff over fixing issues that have existed for years.

So it comes down to wait and see, but I don't hold much hope at this point.

Yes it is, and you are wrong.

People leaving quietly in the night do not affect change they are just one more of the multitude who quit playing for one reason or another.

Companies expect churn, they expect turn over and they expect customers to leave. And if such customers leave without communicating why they left, the company has no idea what to change or even if they need to.

This is why the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I have seen countless cases where companies and other organizations have changed course based on the reactions of these "vocal minorities" this is why they went into panicked firefighting mode and rushed the CSM out to Iceland (on full fare flights mind you easily blowing the $3000 those first 40 monocles they were so proud of brought them and then some).

In EQ the issue of the Hybrid Experience penalty was declared a dead horse by the devs repeatedly yet eventually continued pressure from a player base who were willing to raise that dead horse back on it's feet constantly won the day.

It was also a vocal minority that SOE chose to ignore that dethroned EQ as the top dog in the MMO space and made WOW into a cultural ICON.

How many sponsors have pulled advertising from some program or another due to the actions of "vocal minorities" how many public policies have been based on the efforts of such "vocal minorities.

One also has to account for the fact that often those vocal minorities are the most influential members of a community specifically because they are VOCAL. That for every one of the vocal there are probably a dozen quietly in the background who agree with them.

The vocal tend to be the most passionate about an issue and because of that they get paid attention to.

I promise you that the reason CCP went from "they're just whinning ignore them" to "omg! fly the CSM to Iceland, Now!" was because of the effects this vocal minority were having.

Over 3000 people claimed to have canceled the account over this issue and CCP's cavalier attitude regarding their concerns. I say claimed because we only have their words for it. CCP on the other hand had the actual data they were able to see how many people clicked cancel.

I assure you that had that number been trivial the CSM would never have gotten that surprise vacation.

So no you are not correct that going quietly away is what will get CCP's attention.

Nice try though.

I'll hold onto my money. Better investments out there than eve. I did care.. I don't anymore.. I'm just enjoying my last few days. Making the best before its all gone. Very Happy

I'm not happy with the direction ccp is heading with this game. I'm not happy with there attitude to us. The only reason I stuck out as long as I did because of the community. No other like it out there. One great quality of eve.

I just can't stand CCP. I won't support there scheme. I did quit. My SUB ends in a few week. deleted all but this character. Its next soon once I have my fun. Twisted Evil

If people spent time to read what OP said part of his assertion is correct. Un sub dont buy anymore plex.

I would also say that while you're still playing continue to complain though. Otherwise quiet forums could show that people are no longer miffed, and have laid down and taken it.

So really... One should do both...quit and complain. Because without quitting they will just call your bluff and know what a sheep you are.

Like I said add bite to the bark. Me though I dont care so much about Incarna, but i get why people are ****ed.

I did quit. 3 accounts cancelled. Paid in cash for 5 years. 6 months paid at a time on 3 accounts. 3 more months and they are done, and I won't be renewing unless some major changes take place at CCP in the next 3 months.

Just a note.

I never suggested going quietly. Make noise if you can. But if you don't cancel your subscription (Buying PLEX just encourages more PLEX to be bought, so you're still effectively paying CCP, just indirectly) then your words mean very very little.

The CSM summit was meaningless. CCP aren't going to change their path, they're just going to try harder to convince us that their path is great. Or to phrase that differently, the only end result of the emergency summit will be better marketing.

UMMM no.

As long as I dont have to pay money I would rather hang around and ***** about CCP taking a dump my favorite game that I would worry about depressed plex prices influencing CCP through 20 degrees if indirect conections.

And to some small degree it gives pleasure that you guys who want to support CCP are annoyed by my opion.

I did quit, however with my 10 remaining days of gametime (Had about 50 or so left when I cancelled after Incarnage) I decided to trollolol around on the forums. Let people rage at me, I don't care, I've never given a damn what people say about me in real life, so I sure as hell don't over the forums. I hope that maybe I can raise awareness of what kind of screwing CCP has been doing to us, and I agree that cancelling subs is the best way to make them change.

However, it seems that the 6k or so subs that had cancelled when I last checked two months ago (which equates to about 90grand a month in lost revenue, or a bit more than a million dollars a year) hasn't swayed CCP's course. So, I've resorted to trolling and comedy to pass the time. This is the internet, after all.

Edit: 6k subs, not people.
