Seems to be a permissions related issue.

If you get an auth box pop up, you're probably part of a domain. I have 11 comps, 5 of which are on domains; The game is installed on 3 PCs, 2 of which are on said domain and are running W7x64. The PC that was not on the domain had a seamless install; the two others needed a reboot before installing because of the popup demanding elevation that would not accept any level of authentication.

After rebooting the two domain computers, the auth box no longer popped up.

Alternately, you could go to the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\cache
and look for the evepremiumpatch273475-288329.exe file, right-click and run as administrator without rebooting (assuming you have admin rights on your computer)

Hope this helps.

Rollback coming in and sub gone.

Seriously, blame the fail OS by microsoft, which requires a reboot nearly after every lousy install.
(Also, the required reboot has nothing to do with whether or not the install changed system files.)

Well you don't act like it.

You didn't even read the replies properly judging by your first post, you just assumed everyone was being childish and complaining.

There was only one single person (the OP) complaining about anything until you posted, everyone else was telling him that it was probably something on his pc doing it coincidentally at the same time and telling him to stop complaining.

There's only two people in this thread that need to grow up, one of them is the OP, can you guess who the other one is?

Win 7 64 bit here, had to reboot also because of locked files. Dont know why? have a standard win7 installation and not set up "wrong" Lol, default typical eve installation but on another drive. Hardly something to complain about though...reboot is hardly an effort.

Would be interesting to know why though for curiosity.

Learn about your own operating system before you shoot your mouth off about the software you put on it.

"Fail on a number of levels" indeed.

hint: on recent versions of the OS most of those installer requested reboots are not required and can safely be ignored.

unless you're changing a driver, operating system file, etc you generally don't need to.

but it sounds like for OP - and the guy who figured out what is going on - that UAC is being the *****y betty it is intended to be.

Herp herpa derp. User error, most commonly blamed on everyone but the derp himself.
