1.) Do some market research in the area where you want to trade
2.) Double check you numbers, and check the market again
3.) Train some Trade skills so you can put up lots of Buy/Sell Orders at one time
4.) Buy low
5.) Sell high
6.) There is no Six
7.) ?????
8.) Profit
9.) Rinse and repeat as needed

How much time do you have to play if you do not have a lot then find a slow item that will not have you updating much.

Start in smaller trading hub if possible. Being Gallente, I started station trading in Oursulaert which is smaller trading hub than Dodixie.

Less competitors there. Also less profit, but good for learning. Find some item you can buy/sell at same station if you want to start without needing to transport items around.
