Little story: I was flying trough space transferring my cargo. In one moment I was not in front of my monitor (went to open the door) and when I get back, my ship (with my earned cargo) was blow up by some camping and frustrated idiot who is given right to play the game. To say again, I was jumping trough gates, did not provoke anybody. I understand the real combat (and in game combat) but this is something different ...

So, most of us are honest worker who legally work for their paycheck. And with some of those earned money, you decide to buy and play EVE Online ... Interesting game and promising for fun. You pay every month for playing pleasure and to support the game company. You start learning various aspects of the game and progressing with carrier. You are not in this game to heal your frustration or cromanonian way of living, just want to have fun - and suddenly some one blow you up without reason - only because he has 1, 2 or more years in skill points and you cant mach him in any way. And he has whole cromanonian corporation beside him to support his way of playing (and thinking).

I paused playing this game for 3 months just for those reasons, when I receive offer EVE to continue the game... so I said, hell why not, maybe I was not lucky earlier or do something wrong .... and then, the same thing. It is starting to be suspiciously fishy. There are players with 5 and more years of playing having big wealth (billions) and corporations ... and there are young players just starting up - and money start rolling! Maybe (I don't know) there is some agreement by two interested parties to do the damage, you start over, spend more money for game time, buy more items etc...

My question is: why developers are not implementing mechanism against open vandalism? Is this mean that you should spend 1-2 years learning skills and spending your real life money just to go (travel trough)to 0.5 space and to match some idiot not to blow you up? Why you cant combat NPC without fear that some player will not get beside you in that moment and kill you. I was even been killed by other players (with no provocation from my side) when I was doing Sisters Eve mission (lvl 1)?! And nobody cares ... I am not winning, I just want to be honest - my money are not growing in my garden or are given from my wealth parents... Don't you just want to have fun playing this game? And messing only with NPC ships (at least when you are young player)?
How can you protect your self from idiotic players who want only to be mean and do you damage? Staying in your system and not going anywhere???? I can stay at home and it is free!

The whole system with corps (join the corp or you will not survive!!!) is somehow fishy - smelling like big money for someone ... Do you know how long you need to play just to earn 300 mill. - until you get old! (at least with solo and honest playing). Peoples, this is game, not the real life ... but this game is starting to be very expensive in this way ...
Please, share your opinion - I will continue with this message soon - there is no words space any more ...
Fly safe!

@OP ... CryHarder™ and share more tears please. And welcome to EVE, where people love losing cheap clones to gank an expensive cargo and scoop it with their hauler alts.

Oh, ever heard about not using AP with valuable cargo for this reason and this reason alone ? Have a nice stay in New Eden, and fly safer. YARRRR!!

Welcome to EVE.

First lesson: this is a sandbox.

While you might think this means that you can do anything you like, what it actually means is that everyone can do whatever they like, which may include a lot of things that you do not like having done to you.

If you cannot stand the thought of other people having that kind of freedom, then EVE is not the game for you.

The next lesson is how nothing you have ever learned from other games is in any way even remotely relevant to how things work in EVE. Well… nothing except that Charisma is a dump stat. That's as true here as it is everywhere else.

OMG wall of text.

Your high sec gank. Sorry to say man, but this is why you need to be in a player corp. Carrying expensive loot through high sec is a bad bad idea.

You ask why this happened. It wasn't even to be mean, they made about 150mil from that gank after losses. You CAN avoid this, but you need to learn how from experienced players (or from self experience, but as you can tell thats going to be painful).

Also, looking at that slicer kill, this is precisely why when people call eve P2W they are wrong.

Yea, I won't even haul more than 10MIL in a standard hauler, not only that but all but one of my accounts can fly cloaky haulers, and doesn't matter what I am hauling in them I cloak up shortly after initiating every warp off a gate.

I will not haul more than 100MIL in a cloaky hauler, if it is under 40k m3, and worth more than 100MIL total, I will toss it in a corporate hangar on an Orca and just take the extra time to move the goods. If the volume is high but worth per unit is low, I will in a freighter but never more than 1BIL at any given time, even then I will move it during off hours like the time between the tail end of EU and start of Russian TZ when NA players are starting to logoff or wind down, EU players have been in bed for hours, and Russian players are still not going to start waking up for an hour or so.

I realize most of these options are not available to a newer player except the cloaky hauler, which only requires around 100MIL to fit and utilize, so get to training...

It only takes Racial Indy V (two weeks), Industry V (four days), and Cloaking IV (four days) to fly and fit.

I have to admit though, through the nearly four years I have played this game, I cannot tell you how many T1 Industrial ships I have seen go down in flames in any and all types of space. Seriously, one of the few times I can say I honestly do not know how many of these lossmails I have seen, but it is enough that I stopped keeping track. And it honestly makes me wonder...

It takes less than a month to train at least one account to use cloaky haulers... instead people lose hundreds and hundreds of mil worth of ISK again and again using ships that even a poorly fit battlecruiser can one shot, ya know as opposed to a ship that can warp while cloaked and has a considerably faster align time. What gives folks? Do you love carebearing for six hours only to lose all your loot/salvage in a flash, literally?

If you can afford to cram a curse into a T1 hauler, you can afford to purchase a cloaky hauler, end of story.

Welcome to eve - i think this kind of thing happened to a number of us as newbs. it is your first - VERY HARD - lesson that eve is unforgiving and people will happily take CONCORDOKKEN if your cargo is worth enough.

never autopilot with valuable cargo.

So, how will you take revenge? I cant meet him in (real) person, he is more experienced and in corp., he is in 0.0 space. You want to say that this game is all about virtual (substitute for real) killing - just to kill somebody else for pleasure and this is proving ground for destructive acts? Why are there NPC ships and missions - just to learn how to become killer and harass someone else and to make your CEO happy and wealth?

Blow him up.

You should have kill rights on him, and he obviously isn't in 0.0 all the time or you wouldn't have lost your ship…

1. This strikes me as a copy-cat newbie post, someone trying to cash in like this guy did.

2. Earning 300 million ISK playing solo does not take that long at all. A couple months, if that.

It's not about money (surprise! cant be!? - heresy? who is not interested in money, power, greed, someone else misery and be fulfilled with that). This is meaningless, you all miss the point ... So stay well and be happy killers!

Yes, I think you summed up EVE pretty well.

Wait...you want to take what happened in-game to real life? You're like one of those dudes who threatens to punch Goons at fanfest.

Eve is a cutthroat and vicious world in which we exercise our darker natures and can do all those things which we would never do in the real world because we are not sociopaths. not everyone chooses to engage in warfare in eve online, but everyone should be ready to be attacked at all times.

can i suggest using a tanked transport in high sec?
