...so, CCP, can we keep our fingers crossed that you'll throw genuine FPS players a bone and let us use real input devices instead of a silly unresponsive chunk of button-studded plastic?

Pwetty pwease?

EDIT: Linkeh

PS3 Counterstrike to support mouse & keyboard

EDIT 2: Yeah probably should've mentioned that i was referring to Dust 514 :P

if ccp were to make this available for dust they would earn a big boost of support from their pc gaming universe sharing players.

Sorry, not going to happen. CCP has already stated that the keyboard + mouse will work only for communicating and not for in-combat gameplay as stated on the Dust514 site.

....maybe we could buy the ability to use keyb+mouse with AUR? ;)

In order to keep an open and fair playing field, everybody will be using controllers only.

That is not going to change.

I have to say, thats quite disappointing, especially when you consider that much of EVE Online is very unfair at times, and that they're supposed to be offering players the ability to buy better stuff in-game!

No they aren't. NEX items don't offer any advantages. Controllers work fine for console FPS and are easier to work with since you can use them practically in any setting. Giving the option to play with KB + mice would be an unfair advantage as previously stated.

i will definitely be buying the pc version of cs global offensive.

im not going to buy a ps3 just to play dust514 though.

had dust514 been released on pc ....hell yeah. but im too poor to buy a ps3 right now.

cs go will probably out sell cs source though. cs source sold 25mil copies and it was only for pc... now console kiddies will be able to play vs pc players...i'd expect cs g.o. to sell 50 mil copies easily. and be played for years to come.

CCP going up against valve in the team based shooter stakes. That's hilarious.

(Hint: you going to get owned. Hope you didn't spend too much money on dusty).

Firefall Red 5 looks fun too, and there's some ID one? But the idea of an updated counter-strike, with all the lessons they learned from TF2 and local servers just makes me salivate.

Would you play with a controller against PC players?

I didn't think so.

Tell me how the new Counter Strike game is going to be interconnected with an MMO.

Go ahead, take your time and ponder your answer.

It will be better for being focused on a shooter rather than some abstract tie in to a game I don't care about?

And that works both ways. Eve will not be made a better game by a bunch of console shooter fans randomly blowing up Sov or PI installations.

No. CCP is going up against Sony in the team-based shooter stakes. Well, except for the fact that the Sony game isn't on the PS3. Razz

Simples.

1, Buy Eagle Eye converter
2, Plug in Keyboard and mouse
3, ????
4, Profit

I had forgotten about Planetside 2 if that's the reference. But Sony Online are not much better than CCP.

A battlefield with "Hundreds" of players would be pretty awesome though if they pull it off.

Wtf really?!

KK, -1 dust customer right here. ugh

I used to be a steadfast ccp supporter and was looking forward to dust with a passion but tbh I think they have literally lost their minds when it comes to connecting with the playerbase.

I would love to hear the reasoning behind this decision as it costs far less to go to your local walmart and buy a cheap wired usb kb/mouse than it does to buy a crappy third party controller.

Aww, controllers aren't that bad for FPSes.
Sure, it's frustrating when trying to snipe and you overcompensate CONSTANTLY.
Sure, it's ridiculous how someone can outrun/strafe your aiming. Just consider this their angular velocity vs your turret tracking.
Sure, it's annoying how you have so very, very little buttons to press, so to do something complex like switch grenade type you need to double-tap triangle, circle and X all at the same time.
Sure, it's cumbersome when you try to open a weapon-select wheel and fumble about to change to another item.
Sure, it's laughable whenever you watch gamepad controlled footage and see such jerky, robotic, straight-lined camera movement, with zero situational awareness because it's so damned difficult to take a peek to your side because of the sensitivity.

But everyone with a controller experiences this, so you won't be at a disadvantage! \o/

Don't forget that console shooters have oversized hitbox mechanics to compensate for the inate clumsiness of a kiddie controller. Wink

FPS on console controllers is just terrible and its dumb not to use the keyboard and mouse functionality of the PS3...

I'm betting sony put the brakes on that bit of awesomeness.

Can't have the console kiddies crying foul after all about how unfair it is that someone with an extra $7 bought a cheap wired kb/mouse combo and is pwning the controller tards.

Why can't I fly EVE spaceships with a PS3 controller?

Because the ps3 controller is an inferior input device unless you are playing a racing game or some mindless platformer. It's ok for flight games like ace combat.
