Greetings

We took allot of work in a little web project (fully IGB compatible)

The FIRST known Eve Crimes Database!
http://www.evecrimes.simworkx.com/

Before you hit your "Accept" button in your Corporation menu, you may run a background check with us for FREE!

Features:
Report corp thief's and scamer's
Search for their names/ alt names in the database and see what crime they did commit.
Search the Database, requires no registration
File a new report, requires registration

Right now we are running in beta state. Adding a discussion board can be an option later on.

At the moment we are uploading names to the database, and validating their existence in New Eden. It can take some more days...

Something we want to share with you.

Maybe CCP wants to make that sticky.

Thank you

This isn't the first but if you correctly source your proof then good luck with the venture.

So anyone can write anything about anyone else and not have to provide a shred of proof?

I don't think you thought your cunning plan all the way through.

It's just a duplicate of the information in the ongoing thread so I don't really see the point.

Hey Fred, what about tracking griefers? They are just as bad as corp thieves, if not worse especially when they kill off an entire mining fleet of 12 hulks with dual Orcas.

Explain how doing any of that is griefing?

Many questions and ideas. Thanks.

#1 False reports: Yes, the database could be miss-used and player could be reported without doing anything wrong. For that, the database's new records of course are moderated. A user providing false information can/ will be banned. At least he can report one guy ONCE, but maybe not a second time. If someone gets reported and we figure the report is false, we will remove the entry.

#2 Petitions for out of game harassment:
It is a game. No real names (out of game) can be reported, nor do we have the interest to know real player names.

evecrimes provides a service to protect Corporations.

#3 Tracking Griefers:
Well, I think we have a good base to start with scamers and corp thiefs. The idea of the database was initially to protect corps who do NOT want to deal with spies, corp thiefs, scammers in their corporation.

Griefers, on the other hand, gankers.... Hmm, but this would maybe just hit the ceiling of names we would have to record. I just get Hulkageddon in my mind what is an official event (to win prices/ ships). The names and kills can mostly be tracked in their Hulkageddon killboard...

Right now we donīt see the advantage to have them saved in this database, but who knows what direction we go later. Good input.

Why not just stop being a moron and use Eve-search like everyone else.

A little paranoia is a good thing.

Sorry forgot to add that the griefer joined the Corp for 1 day to do the mining fleet gank then left. Bit different than suiciding a hulk, but perhaps the term isn't griefer. Or perhaps it's a Corp griefer , just a thought.

as far as I know, the only "griefing" in this game is doing can baiting on starter systems.

...and even there I might be mistaken.

We have much more ideas for the future. Such as a rating System for Ransom, or for Fright Services...

Griefers...however you will call them... I have it on the list too. We shall see how we can get this in later, or make a new site for that based on the website's code.

@Awoxina: Don't sign on then. I know there can be paranoid folks out there.

Yes, a limited Api is necessary to file new reports. For a good reason.
To initiate a search, no registration is necessary. But this was all posted before and the FAQ of the site explains alot too. More questions, spit it out.

Members are growing rapidly. Thanks, thats more input as we thought. The database grows day by day.

Hahahahaha this is so ridiculously stupid. How many hours of your life did you waste on this? Because you're never getting those hours back.

How about instead of building a database you develop half a brain? That's the best way to avoid getting scammed.

NEWSFLASH: People can sell off their old characters, buy new ones on the character bazaar and your database then because utterly useless. As for the idea of CCP stickying this ****bucket post.... that gave me a good laugh. Thanks.

When you read our FAQīs you would know whatīs happens with sold characters. They will remain in the database. You know what that means? You will maybe get... uhm, lets say... 5 mill ISK for them??? Soon? or even more YARRRR!! Shocked

I just want to emphasize that according to this correct and amazing database I am incredibly trustworthy. You should let me into your corp and give me access to all of your corp hangers, perhaps even make me a director. This will do nothing but benefit your organization.

Roadmap for possible add-ons:

Corps hiring corp thief's/ scammer DB
Mining Bot DB
Pirate rating DB

Destiny Corrupted
Deadly Viper Kitten Mitten Sewing Company

You can't automate proof; that's a given. So you'll moderate entries, instead of moderating submissions before approving them? There's so much potential for abuse here that your site will, in its own convoluted way, advance the griefing profession by many years. That is, if anyone even bothers to use it.

There's a reason why courts employ randomized juries (and allow defendants to, you know, defend themselves) instead of asking the local IT nerds to determine who's guilty and who isn't.

You are right. As eve does not know justice it is hard to play "courtroom". Donīt forget that corp theft is not banned from eve. The evecrimes DB is a tool, a service. We can only prevent fake posts, but to proof a crime you need more as that, such as: Screenshots, Chat logs, forum threads, blog posts...

In most cases the thief confesses anyhow and its a Hall of Fame for him.

Without a proof everyone (we also) would maybe wonder the record to the DB is justified.

Itīs dark out there!

Btw: Many people signed on as member already and use the database. So its seems there is a demand.

Without trying to offend your apparently delicate ego, this is a waste of your time. You may as well simply list every player in EvE as each of the 52,000 accounts are potential, probable and actual criminals. Of course, in New Eden these things are not considered crimes, but really you might want to rip off the search engines of other websites first so you have a database of everyone. Just sayin'.

You have a point. The database will never be complete and it may move on and on. Alts come and go to doomheim, main chars can be sold. Evidence should be solid as it can get. But maybe it is a start and a help to find some shady figures.
