I'm just thinking. How many players that activelly do PVP on a daily basis depend on PLEX for their activities? I ask that, because i find harder to sustain myself with only $14,99 per month than i did one to two years ago. Today i cant find even one corpmate that doesnt buys at least one plex to fund himself.

Considering all the changes that CCP want to bring to 0.0, is this something that is intended? For nullsec pvp to require some sort of "premium" subscription, where the person has to spend twice the amount of money that carebears spend? I once though that $14,99 per month sufficed.

Buying isk or buying time?

I try to buy time rather than getting something I can do myself with exploration, missions, etc.

Nobody needs to spend any money on PLEX. PLEX is just there as a means to get cash fast. It's dependability though is entirely based on those who have grown dependent on it. And if anything, the changes to 0.0 will probably only make PLEX less viable due to the amount potentially required, and in fact may make ingame means of making money more wealthy. In turn, it might also make people think twice before bringing something to a fight they could potentially lose.

And once again, nobody needs to use PLEX. It's just your decision to do it, as purchasing it is entirely on your own volition. Redundant, but really that is what it comes down to.

I should probably start charging for guided tutorials on how to easily make passive income and pay for accounts with plex ISK rather than RL monies. I assumed it was easy enough and everyone knew how but the more I read the more I realise there are people struggling out there.

Please note this is not intended to sound :smug: I am not actually that active a player so my losses incurred, even as a soloer, are probably much lower than highly active do or die PVP players.

edited for clarity.

Not everyone can do it, because, by definition, the more people make ISK to buy PLEX, the higher the price of PLEX will go.

I make PLEX a month playing a dedicated raid healer for my friends in WoW. Bribery will get you anywhere with me, and it sure beats blowing dwarves behind Ironforge.

Yeah but then the Dwarves become dependent on the BJ like deer that people feed in the suburbs. I hope you still blow them, for their sake.

You should, might help some people stick around if you can do it from a noob perspective. I think the biggest problem with retaining people is how people feel kind of lost after getting past the tutorial stuff, if they bother to do it. Just take donations :P

You buy plex because you're lazy.

2 months as a corp in a wormhole can generate 10's of billions.

Incursion fleets can make several billion a week if the group is tight.

Ninja ratting can make 2 billion a week without breaking a sweat all the while leaving PLENTY of time to PVP.

And none of this touches the huge money generated by level 4's.

You buy plex because you don't feel like doing any of these other things, its got nothing to do with whats needed, and everything to do with the amount of effort that you and your friends are willing to put out.

You can make 60-120 mil an hour running incursions. What exactly is the problem here?

Grath is correct. He hasn't even listed all the ways that a "PvPer" (everyone in EVE is a PvPer; some are just in denial about it.) can make ISK.

The anwser is pretty simple.

If you want to know if you need to buy PLEX in order to afford PVP, the answer is no

Please also note the following points:
Industry is about making money
mining is about making money
PVE is to make money
PVP is a way to lose mone, barely to make

Do you want to know how to get ISK faster?
PLEX

Hmm, please don't get me wrong, i know about far more than just one way of farming your own ISK. I do it myself to fund three accounts even. What i do wish to know, however, is how many people actually depend on PLEX for their activities

There are lots of people who buy plex to play. They have the money, let them. Good for CCP's wallet, everything else is a non issue.

So how many of those who have posted here buy plex because they can't/won't PVE, or cant get free goodies from their alliances/corporations? That is what i'm interested in knowing, and not the pros and cons of doing it.

Emphasis mine.

I buy PLEXes because I do not care enough to do these things. Also, last time I visited my L4 agent, she gave hauling missions after hauling missions. 7 in a row. frack you. I sold all my jewgear right there on the spot. Cheapest A-type gear ever. Laughing

PVE is just too damn easy and predictable. It's also 100% pointless. Sure, buddy, Incursions and Sleepers are another league entirely but whatever. Sanshas and sleepers will respawn somewhere else. No direct impact on New Eden. No lasting consequences that makes you think whats up with what. Red cross spawn, kill red cross, collect ISK. the end.

meh. Why the heck am I even saying this?

My popint is, I buy PLEX so I can enjoy the game on my terms. I'll keep buying and funding myself through PLEX for as long as it's possible/reasonable/satisfactory.

I'm one of those who buys a PLEX a month to fund my PVP, and I find one PLEX to be quite sufficient. But then, I don't PVP in anything more expensive than BCs.

I'm also fully aware that making money in EVE is easy - very easy. Probably too easy. I, however, have no desire to waste skill training time on industry/exploration/etc, or to purchase another account, or to shoots NPCs in wormholes, or spend hours each week surveying the markets and hauling goods around. I just want to PVP and nothing else. Log on, find fights. That's it. So, for me, PLEX is a godsend.

The problem is that I play for a couple of hours at a time, and recently the nearest incursion to the location I was in was something like 42 jumps away...

I don't buy any at all. Trading, Pi and exploration provide my isk. Trading and PI give pretty decent returns for virtually no time invested. Exploration when I get the PVE itch or run really low on isk.

O.o

What's wrong with plex here?

The point of it being, people want isk without the chaff you have to do to set up *passive income* or shooting NPCs for more than 30 seconds.

Not everybody enjoys the Non-pvp parts of this game.

Tl;dr why worry about how some people play in the sandbox?

Cost of a plex is like 17 cups of coffee where I live. I drink a lot of coffee.

Additionally, lose a couple of hundred million ISK of ships which cost you all of 30 seconds effort to afford makes PVP without the buyers remorse of all those hours invested in grinding (even passively).

Battlefield 3 is out in a couple of months. I'm sure there will be many new locations you can go grind isk from that aren't open to you right now.

Player A has 3 accounts doing various afk activities to make isk, pays ~$45 a month for those accounts, takes the isk and uses it for PvP ships

Player B buys PLEX and sells for isk, using the money for PvP ships

Difference? Is there one?
