I wonder if Noah is seeing the same America I'm seeing. 1984 has come and gone, if the military even remotely backs the government its people are screwed. Even without the military surveillance , intelligence and counter intelligence will go a long way to squashing any uprising. |

I mean, they did so well in Iraq and Afghanistan that I'm sure they would have no problem carrying out counter-insurgency ops against a population 10x bigger in a country that is half of a continent. |

Yeah, we sortof don't have that whole surveillance infrastructure set up over there. You realize every atm machine, every traffic cam, surveillance camera, every cell phone, every land line etc are all tools that can be used to track you. They don't have that advantage over there. |

No, I don't think so. I don't think that we, as a rule, find ourselves getting beat at a game and then decide to take the ball, go home, change the rules and call it something else. Now, baseball. That's an odd sport the rules of which are lost in time though it does look like it's had its roots in both cricket (from the sub-continent) and, strangely enough, Wales. One doesn't see much of Welsh Baseball these days. Thankfully. Just give me an oval ball and the Six Nations... |

For example, guns aren't used by rioters, they are only used by law-abiding shop owners to shoot looters. That link is 'leftist' propaganda.
Simone to Polly Toynbee, the jig's up, I've been made. Get me back to the Gore Ecodome. In Ghoest's defence (god help me), we can see the problem right here: Originally by: Ghoest I do remember that the there were almost no stories of rioters using guns and many stories of people guarding property with guns.

Ignorant quote of the day. Thus far a handful of people have been killed. If we had guns I can assure you that it would be a whole lot more. I'm currently in Birmingham surrounded by the madness and while it's sad seeing the destruction it does get a heap load of idiots off our streets. I for one have seen this coming for the last 10 years so it really isn't a shock, but this means that our government will hopefully realise that you can't just let young people have babies and not teach them how to bring them up, take extra curricular activities away from schools and cut funding from youth clubs. |

Edited by: Herzog Wolfhammer on 10/08/2011 15:58:20I love it how the Brits really cling to their sorry state of tyranny. Thomas Jefferson was right about you people. Quote: If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, and give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; And the sixteen being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they do now, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account; But be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains around the necks of our fellow sufferers; And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for a second, that second for a third, and so on 'til the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering...and the forehorse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression.
Unfortunately, what he said about England then applies to the US today - and how many royals own the banking system that is busting out the world? Hmmm? |

At 6'6 and 410lb's, I'd imagine that person would find it hard to get around and would most likely be very unhealthy.
He suggested that while a 6'6" 410lb black man would tire quicker than a white equivalent.
You assumed he meant they were of the same weight, nothing about the weight was mentioned, your mistake. |

Same for American Football. Here it's called Rugby only without all the gay body armour and nut cups....
But yeah Baseball bats here are only used for cracking skulls.
Baseball is closer to cricket. Rounders is more like stickball and played exclusively by kids on the playground at recess. Your football is mainly played by girls in the US. Rugby is very big in the US as well. You've obviously never played American football if you think pads make it hurt LESS. If anything, it hurts MORE. And no one wears cups, genius. The styles of tackling are completely different between rugby and football because you simply cannot launch yourself headfirst like a missile into someone's face in rugby. Having someone bury their shoulder in your sternum doesn't hurt nearly as much as having someone bury their helmet in your sternum. Both, however, are better sports than bouncing a ball off of your head while running around like a fairy, crying that you broke an eyelash. |
