Am I the only one stoked by this, as in loving the idea ?

I mean come on let me explain it in three simple lines.

We get to hire ps3 users and use them as our minions
We get to hire ps3 users and betray them
We get to hire ps3 users and nuke them from orbit

come on you know you want too

I'm extremelly curious about the interaction. What can it bring to an fps player? will they push it into the gameplay? (solider target paint thingie to bomb, badguy jam the signal, ship use eccm, scan the battleground and send the map (with baddies positions) to the troopers). In short, akin to the general role of BF2 (I think it was BF2). will they get access to local and other chats? voice chat? will they be able to join corps? contact? Can eve player sell them weapons/armors, or lend them for the mission?

It has been said it's for planets only. But why not pos infiltration for map variation? Anyway, game modes can be more than simply capture the flag, plant the bomb.

the 2011 E3 trailer did strike me, it is very, very eve players orientated. A lambda fps player wants to improve his kill ratio, and blow people/stuff up. Why should he care about the universe? As eve player, I wont mind struggling for my grunts, but it should feel positive for him to have an online space buddy.

Yet, I'm in that category of person who is curious of what can be done, dust integration with eve has the potential to be great. Only seeing CCP latest release, I'm quite confident it will be an empty shell and quite a waste.

scared?
no.

my feeling towards Dust are best described as sadness,
i personally think i could have been a gamer who might have enjoyed dust, in special when it has influence on my main-game.
But CCP decided to go for the console market exclusive, which kinda excludes me. I do not own a Sony Console, and i don't have any other reason to get one.

Now, if i was convinced that i would enjoy Dust on such console, that might be enough for me to buy one, sadly i've tried out fps on consoles a few times, be it at friends places or at stores, which convinced me that a gamepad, for this kind of gameplay, is totally inferior to a mouse and a keyboard.

Now all i can hope for is that CCP finds the right balance between having Dust making enough impact on EVE to add to the whole experience, but on the otherhand limit that impact enough so no 13 year old kid on a team killing spree causes me to lose my stuff.

Scared? No.

PC is and always will be best platform to play FPS games. Since CCP going PS only, I actually feel sorry for them.

It will be a PS3 exclusive at launch, but I fully expect it to eventually come out on the PC.

I'm just waiting to have enough information to figure out how I can profit from it.

Somebody needs to make that cool body armor...

Many people have asked, so here is generally what will be included in Dust.

-Eve players can orbital strike Dust players

-Dust players can artillery strike Eve players

-Eve players create contracts that Dust players can pick up in order to defend the EVE players planet or whatever else the Eve player wants.

-Eve players can fund Dust players in battle with ISK or "Off site" deployables like railguns that get shot from space into the planet that dust players can use.

-Dust and Eve players will be able to find special blue prints that can be bought, traded, and eventually created for the soldiers of Dust, I.E. weapons, ammo, vehicles. (Any EVE players want to make some money???)

-Dust players can join EVE corporations and alliances and be an actual member under the same name, as if you were an EVE player.

-Eve players can join dust 514 players corps

-Dust players can go to a world by themselves and take over an EVE players planet and destroy their structures and such.

-Dust players can create their own structures and take over a planet and defend it, rent it out to other EVE players, or make deals of protection on the planet against other Dust corporations that may try to invade it.

-The main goal in dust during a battle is to capture the command center ship (basically destroy it). There will be a commander in that ship (player) who will basically be playing a real time strategy game giving commands to the soldiers on the ground from an overhead view in his ship.

-Dust players will have to purchase their armor, weapons, vehicles, inplants, ammunition, and upgrades to all of those as well. Which means EVE players now have an entirely new market to sell to.

-If a dust player dies he loses everything he had (not sure about implants) and has to pick up another set of gear thats stored in his locker or whatever. (this one fact alone will push away a lot of console kiddie tards and keep good dedicated players in the game).

-I also believe dust players will be able to see EVE players in their ships that are flying over their planet (remember EVE ships are kinda big Wink )

There is probably more that I am not remembering about this game that I know. If anyone has any questions about the game ask me. Ive pretty much read every possible forum, update and devblog possible about this game. I will let you know whats speculation or just BS or if I just dont know. But pretty much everything I stated above is true (unless I said that I am not 100% sure). Most of the info I got from my post were responses from Interviews with the dust creators and blogs from EVE corps. Not random websites.

Very informative, to the point. My question, Is p2w potentially a problem?

CCP has made it very clear they have no intention to may DUST P2W. They will be selling vanity and non vanity items though for cash. Although, they made it very specific that the actual non vanity items like guns wont have an advantage and will be more or less just a different type of the same weapons you can normally get. So in my opinion it would be something like this:

-Assault rifle = medium range, medium damage, medium accuracy.
-Dust aurum bought assaut rifle = medium range, slightly more damage, slightly less accuracy.

If anything it will probably be something like that. Change a stat a little bit and add a little bit to something else. But CCP didn't go into detail about non vanity items at all, just that they intend to make it not pay to win. But there will be customizations and such, once again not much info on that subject. It would be nice if they allowed you to put your corp logo on your armor, weapons, and vehicles Smile

I am not too worried about P2W for dust, they saw the riot in EVE. I doubt they will do something stupid in Dust. One great thing they said in an interview is that they plan on bringing the game in slowly, like turning on a faucet. So to start there will not be an enormous amount of stuff, so people playing will find out what they like and CCP will integrate and learn whats wanted from the game and add from there. That way players get what players want, instead of CCP just guessing.

So far CCP seems to be taking good measure to make sure Dust is good as soon as it starts.

Would like to announce a new camp.[EvE+Dust]

We need to get ready for this FPS, that is to say all the ppl on EvE that have never touched an FPS as this will be the single most interesting thing to hit.

I need people in order to set a plan in motion.

we don't need a huge army only the drive to be the best.

Unfortunately Dust is going to be a flop and I will tell you why:

1. There is too much competition in the genre from already established titles. Battlefield, Halo, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor are all established FPS franchises. In order to do that they will need to establish interest for a wide variety of players. That leads us to...

2. It is catering to a very small niche, that being EVE players that own a PS2. Honestly, besides that, PC players of EVE don't care about DUST and FPS players on the PS2 don't care about EVE. They are trying to bridge two unrelated and niche groups. So your actions on the game are going to affect EVE? Who gives a **** if you don't play EVE?

3. It is limited to one console. Bad decision. You will not be able to compete with established franchises that are already across all 3 consoles by keeping yourself to one system.

4. It will rely on real money for upgrades. Players of FPSs are know the importance of balance and hold it even closer than EVE players. While EVE has a focus on PVP, in FPS it is ALL pvp.

This is exactly true.

To answer the question - I'm not afraid of Dust. I'm not really into console games, so I won't be playing it. If I were, I wouldn't invest a lot of myself into it, knowing how transient fps console games are.

You dont have to play dust or care about console games... Remember, for EVE players this is simply adding a new experience to the game. You are not expected to play dust, its simply expanding the game you already love and play. The fact is that it simply requires other people to play dust in order for you to enjoy it.

People need to stop worrying about hating FPSs or playing the game. Play EVE and let everyone else play Dust.

The big thing EVE players will notice is that everyone will be able to sell to an entirely new market, be able to (for awhile) control and make large profit because of the need dust players will have for vehicles and weaponry. Learn what you can, and as soon as dust comes out, profit the best way you can. And remember its EVE, scam them and screw em over, who cares. Its not like anyone has to cater to console players.

As far as the "too much competition". Remember, battlefield, Cod, ect ect are no MMOFPS, plus halo is XBOX so that one doesnt even count. Many many PS3 users loved the idea of MAG, but because zipper failed to continue fixing it and deliver it just died, but their are many players in MAG who refuse to stop playing because its a FPS that stands out from the rest.

Many people have been waiting for something like DUST. The fact that its being integrated into EVE is just a super bonus. Most people would play Dust just because its a FPSMMO. The only other one is planetside and that died a long time ago.

It being limited to one console wasn't a choice. CCP wasn't allowed to keep everything on their servers with microsoft (Xbox), and Wii is obviously not going to work with dust. So the one console, bad choice argument doesnt work. Yeah more consoles = more players, but that doesnt make it a flop.

And as far as relying on real money for upgrades.........no. no it wont.
CCP has made that clear and said you can buy everything with ISK and there will not be any special upgrades for real money.

As I said before, Dust could be a total flop failure, but it could also be great. But some things that are said about dust are simply incorrect. Make your assumptions off the truth that has been revealed by CCP not rumors and guesses.

tbh my only concern about the whole eve online / dust 514 / world of dracula online is that ccp will run it all off the tq cluster. 3x times the bugs & lag to take down tq's already struggling hamsters far more often.

now if ccp upgraded those tq hamsters to champion thoroughbred racehorses so TQ runs without lag or constant crashes from 3 different games i'll be happy.

as for the games dust 514... it will be not much different to any other fps after a few weeks of playing it.

Considering how much work is going into Dust, I really wouldn't be surprised to see a PC version down the line.

If that is true, I hope they release it after the PS3 Dust community is dead. Because keyboard and mouse users would slaughter a controller.

I would have preferred it if it was originally released on the PC and only the PC, but they are trying to market to a new audience. It is a bold new step. Hopefully it all works out in the end. But if they release it for PS3 and the PC, PS3 players will just die. I would instantly switch to the PC version.
