Because they love their customers. Or, they are hoping it will cause a lot of people to buy additional AUR because the free AUR isn't enough to buy the things people really want. |

How are 'we' forced to use it? im prolly not even gonna bother looking at the store as it doesn't rly interest me. If my wallet shows 1000 AUR or 0 AUR doesn't bother me. When i got the snowball launcher thing, i wasn't forced to use that either. |

the answer is simple: do as you do now and ignore it. if it doesn't become a common thing, maybe wait some months, buy whatever you can afford with the free AUR you get without buying more, sell it for isk.
I suspect that for accounting purposes they're counting PLEX converted to AUR as the 'income' site. With all this free aurum being given away, it pretty much invalidates them using the number of items sold.
That being the case, in theory buying stuff with the free AUR shouldn't show up as 'income' for them. Unless they do some complicated voodoo and write off the given-away AUR as an expense...which is about as appealing as eating rocks if you're concerned about your numbers at all. |

So let me see if I have this straight, CCP got scammed whilst plying their own NEX/Aurum Marketing scam via the EvE is Real site. Oh the irony. You know initially I had no problem with the thought of having the NEX store, but the way it's been implemented has actually caused me to despise this part of the game. As far as I'm concerned the whole Incarna/WiS portion of the game has been completely tainted by the 'brightspark' marketing people who have taken it in the direction they have. The saddest thing for me is Incarna/WiS could have been a really fantastic addition to the game, but instead as soon as CCP decided to monetize it they lessened the potentialy great experience that it could have been. |
