Hello,

As I play on a Mac and cannot use EFT I have to ask here : Can somebody help me wth a faction fit for a Nightmare for lvl 4 missions in Empire ? I use this fit http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/49246-Nightmare-fit-FACTION-GALOR.html except instead of Pith-C X-Large Shield Booster I use a Caldari Faction. The thing is if I permanrun the booster, my cap is empty in 2 minutes.

Help is very appreciated

The thing is that you're not really supposed to permarun the booster. Pulsing it to take the incoming damage should be more than enough to tank any L4 mission before your taychons rip everything to shreds. That's how it's supposed to be done. If you really want to, you could fit it so it permaruns but it's going to cost you. Here:

[Nightmare, ULTRA PIMP NIGHTMARE PERMA BOOST 1000 DPS OWNMOBILE]
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Tracking Enhancer II

Pithum A-Type Medium Shield Booster

Now for the bad news. That booster alone will cost you 1.2 bil + 800 mil for the invuls. More bad news? You'll need at least the LG-crystal set to tank every L4 so down goes another bil. As for the numbers.

Booster permaruns at 55% cap stable.
Tanks 545dps with LG crystal set
Tanks 651dps with crystal set
Does 1074dps (with drones) with Imperial Navy Multifrequency @ 37k optimal
Does 531dps (without drones) with Aurora @ 136km optimal.

Nice numbers but spending that much isk just to permarun a booster when you could pretty much get the same result at half price + tracking comp + afterburner/microwarpdrive is a bit silly.

Faction tachyons do slightly less dps than t2 tachyons, but theyre alot easier on cap.

why not try pyfa? You can get it from sorces (very easy) so you only need to get some Python modules

You can get quite some cap from hardwirings without changing your fit. Try the "Squire" CR8 and CC8 hardwirings, together with "Lancer"G2 Beta. Make sure that you have controlled bursts to V and fit one or two faction heavy nosferatus in the remaining highslots. That alone should provide you with enough cap for every mission.

Edit: if you are using the battleclinic fit, get rid of faction guns and replace them with T2 and use the money to buy T2 rigs. I would use a similar fit like this, it offers around 15 mins of cap with everything running if you use above mentioned implants. Make sure you leave an NPC alive which you can drain with the Nosferatus and no more cap problems.

You can fiddle around with the tank of course, for example by replacing active with passive deadspace hardeners or use other shield boosters, saves cap as well and you dont really need that much tank.

your bc load-out is way too expensive, over-tanked and under-gunned, at least for my taste. on the plus side it does not try to be cap-stable. that's simply something the nightmare isn't made for. you get a hopelessly gimped fit like this, if you apply your preconditions:

[Nightmare, Cap stable]
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink

Curator II x2

for my taste this actually tanks enough (284 dps/s against blood), but with 964 (incl. drones) it has about 200 dps less than the ganksetup i like; less tracking and range, too.

if you have a stable connection, consider a boosted 4hs and t2 burst setup. it will finish missions very fast, so you dont have to boost often.

cheers!

Thank you guys, but what exactly the difference between a gist or pithum shield booster and a faction caldari except the price ?

Mate, when playing EVE it is kind of mandatory to be able to check the stats and fittings on the modules you use (or plan on using). Have a quick browse in game and you will find patherns between names and numbers Gist versus Pith or T2 and meta 4 etc.

Paladin is the ship you want. NM is a horrible ship when fit anywhere near cap stable.

Here's a fit I recommended to a couple friends some time back and they loved it. It's pretty pimped out, but it works VERY well. It's huge on gank and has a very respectable burst tank.

Auto target stays off. It just adds 3 more lockable target bringing the ship up to 10. Tractor is a convenience. Swap a tracking computer for an AB in the event you need one. Or swap a tracking computer for a sebo, if for some reason you need to target farther than 125km.

If you don't mind micro-managing your mission ship, this setup will not disappoint you.

*edit*
Any of the deadspace stuff can be easily substituted for faction or T2.

You know, the thing I've noticed with all Gank-fit nightmares is that with just guns and hardeners running, the cap drains in about 4 mins. Is that enough time to shoot everything dead in longer missions like Blockade, Vengeance, etc?

Yes, I show 4 mins of cap with guns+hardeners. You extend that substantially with the Heavy Cap Booster and the 800 charges. Nightmare doesn't have to carry much "ammo", so you can carry upwards of 20x 800 cap charges plus load the booster w/ 4 charges initially. You can inject nearly 20,000 additional cap on top of the ship's regen. The Nightmare will eat something like a Sansha Blockade easily in less than 20 minutes even if you kill absolutely everything. If you just burst tank and burst your cap booster to stay above 1/3 cap, you'll hold.

*edit*
terminology clarification: pulse, not burst, your shield and cap boosters.
primary goal is to keep both above roughly 1/3 of max

This is my personal favorite. Capacitor lasts over 16 minutes without the boosters running. Essentially, you only burn charges when you're getting shot at.

In the event that you do need to run your tank, the X-L booster provides a 517 (+44 passive) EHP/s burst tank that lasts for over 11 minutes. Cap boosters can sustain everything at 428 (+44) EHP/s for as long as the charges hold -- and it takes about 7.5 minutes to burn through the cap charges if you're downing them continuously. You won't need to.
