Fly something worth more than 50MIL and you will change your mind. Drakes are predictable, generally throw a single damage type, and can't neut. I'll take on 3 drakes solo and not even bother to pull range, this is probably because I active tank though so drakes are laughable.

With Crystals nute reps and blue pill, the ship is irrevelent...You are just a can filpper, and your opinion is worthless without context.

Also might have an off-grid tengu booster. Which is popular with active tanks. Especially in hi-sec.

Nano-drakes can also fit a small neut if they want to. Wink

Offensively, small neuts against a medium hull's active tank are nearly worthless. Compared to the cap use of large or XL boosters, a single small neut is a drop in the bucket. On top of that, you have to get well within scram/web range to use it.

Yeah, he probably was, but I've seen enough small neut 220mm Vagas and otherwise intelligent pilots seriously argue the merits of small neuts that I wasn't quite sure.

Why?

I strongly disagree here. Tank/bait, nano/web, nano/ewar (td's, rsd's etc), HAM drake (very high dps, good tank with rage and 3 bcu's). Not to mention that a drake can switch to any damage type, and the good pilots do when occasion warrants, so you can't just tank kinetic. For all of these reasons, I find the drake one of the least predictable ships to fight against.

If you're ever looking to fight 3 drake pilots solo, I can supply them. A tengu boosted/blue pill maelstrom might hold them off (would be very hard to catch one), but not any bc that I can think of.

The nice thing about caldari ships is the abundance of mid slots. This allows to have a great ability to control range using webifiers. Although this may sound like a win button, this tactic requires careful attention to range and scram distance. I lost my ship yesterday just because I clicked "orbit at 1000" and fired. Wrong.

Control the range, control the fight.

Also, there seems to be a lot of talk about the drake. Good luck getting a good fight in a drake as anyone with a brain would call for help and gank it.

I don't even remember the last time I used neutral RR, and my ship runs on the tears of the innocent (plus the 24 hour delay time between wars) so I do can flip but that hardly is the bulk of my kill board by any stretch of the imagination. And even then its normally 1-2 tiers up with no RR so at least it is still challenging.

**Also you would be surprised how little crystals help, or blue pills for that matter.

I just realized this thread has de-railed hard into a drake thread.

Basically for the money drake is the best you're going to get isk for isk with caldari for general use.

Blackbird holds the title of fleet isk per isk though :)

The only Caldari ships I think are worth a damn for pvp or rather solo pvp are the ham Tengu(Buffer fit) and the Widow.

The other night I was called a vagina for rescuing a tackled ratting abbadon (tackled by a sabre) with a falcon. Apparently, some caldari ships are so OP that people will just avoid them at all costs then call them names for not wanting to fight.Laughing

....next time... I'll bring some extra tackle so they can call me a vagina while they die.

How to "pvp" as caldari.

MAX out missiles support skills.
Get t2 roflket,hml,hams,siege/cruise
Train, active shield tanking
Train passive shield tanking
train NAVIGATION skills to max (calamari ships are slow as hell)
Train Weapong Upgrades and Advanced Weapon Upgrades V (to fit the damn launchers)

Train Drone skills, to be able to defend your missile brick.

Insert both Zor's or (lolsnake set) top up with cheap missile implants.

USE only faction and t2 missiles while pewing.

Train BC V

Fire ze missiles

....Profit.

I think you need good support and navigation skills for every race. And why active tanking? And why t2 torps and cruise missiles?

The only problem for caldari skillpoint wise is that you need gunnery, missiles and ewar skills to really use their whole lineup of ships.

Yeah buddy obviously you need support skills for "every race". Nice catch there...

Sure you need nav skills for every race but esp for Caldari bricks. If you can't understand the use for t2 torps in pvp and active tanking as well as passive , I guess it's your loss.

"Why cruise missiles?"

Didn't you get the memo? they are the new FOTM.

Ideally you will want all teh support skills for all the races all the time (with extra calzone). Yes.

Caldari, like any other race that isn't Minmatar, are weak at PvP. The whole T1 and T2 ship lineup isn't close to comparable in PvP potential as a whole. That's because this game didn't see a balancing team in years and it's just something you have to deal with. If you skip the whole Drake FOTM that people forcefuly shove up your ass and try out other ships, you'll find that most of them are weaker than Minmatar hulls and it's true to an extent, however there's nothing you can do about it.

Now don't get me wrong, Caldari ships can work in PvP, it's just not such a neat and tidy package like the Minmatar ships.

As for you, Duke, your mentality is awful. If you think "dictating range is win", then don't play a race that relies on short range weapons and pure EHP. Caldari can do fine in PvP but they require different piloting, if you complain about dying in scrambler range, which is where you want to be, then either only fly the Drake or switch races.

How are cruze missiles the new FOTM ?
