+1 to Original Poster.

CCP -- Please, if you want to implement Micro-purchases, make it reasonable.

Additionally, please make the game work CONSISTENTLY. You already have a system implemented whereby you take down the game for an hour a day (at least), and while I consider that perfectly reasonable and intelligent -- this is getting insane.

I for one have said virtually nothing. I'm getting very upset. This is something you'd expect on launch days, not a game that's been out for years. Very amateur, very careless.

If this continues I will not reup for another year.

SIGH.. another day, another intolerant rant.

guys, seriously, it is not like CCP hate the game. far from it, they love the game as much as us, and from the look of a lot of threads like this, a lot more than some of us.

these issues are obviously unforseen. it happens, especially with online games.

nothing can be tested fully before release, people on a live server will always do wierd things that those testing it never thought of. even the player testers.

in this case, something that wasn't fully utilised by the test community is obviously causing DB issues, and CCP are doing their best to fix it.

if you have such an issue, and have not already done so, go onto SiSi during the mass tests, and at other times and help them test these things.

simply put 50,000 people can and will do a lot more (different) things, than 500.

Like many of the other posters in this thread, I have not been amongst the most vocal since Incarna. I have sat and watched and hoped that you'd somehow get things fixed, CCP.

But here's the thing. In the REAL world... people who delivered a service like this would be fired. They'd lose their jobs. I am, like many others, sick of the service going up and down and everything that was good about Eve being sacrificed on the altar of Incarna. Who the hell cares about AUR and CQ in any case?

Please, please, PLEASE get this fixed. It's ridiculous.

I went on SISI- that's an even bigger heap of sh$* than the live server. Half of the modules never worked or were visible on fitted ships & you needed a carrier in game to refit the ship to get the modules visible or working. This is totally unacceptable cr%p & we are spoon fed this garbage on a day to day basis. Just wakeup & stop brown nosing this heap of embarrassing incompetence.

-1 They are working on fixing these problems, it's not like the server states where in the code there is a problem. For those of you that do not know anything about programming quick course. You write code, then compile it when it is compiled into an .exe all that code is in machine code. The client code is usually less complex than the server code. in short When the server program has an error the error cannot do anything more than tell them the general part of the code that has a bug. But that part could have multiple dependencies so changing one thing means they have to make sure they must change a lot of those dependencies. Even then fixing the bug could also cause more bugs. It would be one thing if someone had a web cam in the ccp office and everyone was calmly picking their nose like they were bored. But I doubt that is happening right now, probably right now project managers are whipping those poor programmers getting them to work faster because of the loud minority that are *****ing that they have to take the server down to fix it. This is all a process, and it almost is never a short process..so relax..pack a bowl, drink a beer, or go play Duke Nukem Forever for a couple of hours. Remember everytime you complain another programmer gets beaten with a cat o' nine tails. Which suprisingly makes things worse.

I don't doubt any of this. I'm not a programmer but I work in the IT Support industry. What I do know is that you need well written code which is documented.

I have great doubts whether the fundamentals for this are in place & have often wondered if anybody who knew anything about the original code has now left the building and thus nearly every update is doomed to failure.

Roggle..in the real world of network administration programming if something like this happened no one would get fired. In the real world programmers would be told to fix it, and keep fixing it. Because this happens when in all aspects of programming, and programming an app or server software is a service based industry. One that causes many people to work at all hours when a problem comes up, and problems come up with computer programs more than you think. It's not because the programmers are incompetent, this is something that happens more than you think in the real world. Especially when it comes to computer software and hardware. With computers Murphy's Law is constantly in effect and nothing ever goes right.

Seriously...I'm really sick and tired of hearing players have a big old baby cry about this stuff and pretend that CCP aren't trying to fix this stuff.

I am confident the managers are whipping the programmers with a riding crop to fix this.

I do find the current instability annoying and I too register my annoyance at loosing some playing time.

..however guess what...If you'd stop to think about it for a second you should realise it's fricking Saturday there. They have people working the the *weekend* to try and fix up whatever is wrong! -(at least the latest emergency reboot).

Second, quality is a thankless job. If you get 99,999 things right, no one will say a thing about it. What they will whine and complain about is the 1 item that slipped through the nets.

- If you are *not* a professional programmer in RL then my opinion is that you really don't know what your talking about. Simply register your annoyance at the service which is down. - Don't go on a Whine-athon and pretend you could do better.

- If you are a professional programmer then think about glass houses...ok.

- Third have you noticed the lack of news and dev blogs lately? Sure this is annoying and I'd like to know more about what is vexing the system, however I'd rather they were fixing the problems with all available resources rather than blogging about what's wrong. - I look forward to the dev blog which explains it after it's fixed.

Enkill and others.... I'm sorry guys.... I'm not a programmer by trade, but I am a manager of development teams because I'm a director of IT. So please don't tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. Small bugs in code I can live with... but these are serious outages. In the real world, providers of Software as a Service products would offer an SLA - and outages of this severity and duration would undoubtedly be in breach of them.

I'm going to shut up now because I happen to agree that rants don't generally help. But it's important that people at CCP do understand that this is not an acceptable piece of software development. Eve was good... now it's not.

Can someone at CCP please roll-back to pre-AUR state?

(I promise I won't even complain about the loss of SP's if you do roll back to pre-AUR)

I'd make sadface over the lost days in training CovOps 5 (gotta get that SB torp-alpha Twisted Evil) and more recently, Cynosaural Field Theory 5, but it'd be worth it in the long run, and thus quite a reasonable trade-off.
