If you must say ARE, to reference the fact CCP is composed of a lot of people, then you HAVE to say, "The people at CCP ARE..."
No, you don't have to. Referring to the individuals in a collective can be done through the simple use of a plural, just like referring to the collective as a whole can be done through the use of the singular. Companies, in particular, are often treated this way.

“CCP are” and “CCP is” are both equally valid ways to refer to the CCP employees and CCP, the company, respectively. No need to specify “the people at” — this is already inferred by the number of the verb.

It never ceases to amaze me ....the number of people that seem to think playing EVE is similar to their right to breathe; CCP is a company providing a service, and much like other companies that suffer random and unfortunate interruptions of their service, all they can do is apologise and get things back up and running again asap.

For a start, how do you know this was CCP's fault? You don't.

How's about simply saying "D'oh - server is down... maybe i should go do those dishes/wash myself/go outside instead of angrily posting on the GD forum about how my gods-given right to sit and get arterial disease has been taken away"?

Honestly... some people...

As you say it's a service. But if I keep ordering pizza and they deliver late, I get a refund and use a different pizza service.

The problem arises because Eve don't refund and there's no real alternative ;)

You sir, are correct! (Just as you said; its a service, and if the service provided ain't good, you get a refund and use a different provider,
but........alas there is no real alternative to EvE online so we'r ''kind of'' stuck with it:D)
PS
Im glad that I was somewhere safe (err, in my room, lookin at the mirror) when the server went down, so im not angry or anything, BUT if I was out fighting like some of you guys, and possibly lost my drones or god forbid.........my ship, than I'd be out ranting my a$$ of too:P)
Cheers.

Eve's down again.... CCP really are incompetant.

CCP is a company. One company; singular. "CCP really IS incompetent." You may notice "incompetent" is spelled with an e. Let's get this subject/verb agreement squared away. If you must say ARE, to reference the fact CCP is composed of a lot of people, then you HAVE to say, "The people at CCP ARE..."

Oh yes, and the server's down. You're sharp.

They could've lied to us by now that they are closing in on the bug, but nooo, they want to be honest, and apparently they have no idea what causes the crashes.

Providing a service, that is being paid for a quote of " we thank you for your patience" does cut the mustard anymore.

I am getting tired of coming home from work, trying to login, not been able to, and there been no notification on www.eveonline.com.

Having to go and hunt for a reason in the forum is annoying as hell and will not stop the word from spreading that from a players point of view,CCP is really struggling to keep there servers up after carrying out server patches.

Bull****, not that i get to bothered with a downtime right now.
Only if a company or the people working there cant host a game server they shouldnt ask money for it.

Thats why the most people here arent doing the thing you want them to do, because they cant.

wow. Some of you guys are taking this a bit hard. It's a game. Yes, we're paying for it but give CCP a break. It's not like I've never tried to make changes to my computer to improve it and had problems afterwards. I'm sure the same goes for everyone posting here...
