How well does the scorpion navy issue do in small gang warfare

The Navy Scorp? I like mine for station and gate fights, its basically a Raven with better resists and more mid slots. Having 8 mids means you can fit an MWD, full tackle and a target painter along with a tank and you cannot really do that as well with a Raven. Don't bother with cruise missiles use torps and it makes a nice close range brawler.

You can fit a buffer or active tank it quite well and its unique as Caldari ships go because you have enough mids to fit everything you need and not having compromise, only the Rattler can really do the same. The shield damage resistance bonus means it makes incoming shield reps more efficient, if you have some Scimitars or Basilisks in a small gang it can absorb huge amounts of damage.

Its a lot more expensive than a Raven but does more damage than most Rattlesnake fits and doesn't rely on drones which get blown up by sentry guns in low sec. If you want a Torpedo based DPS monster consider a Navy Raven or Fleet issue Typhoon instead.

^^ Normal phoons work just as well (or nearly just as well), putting out around 1300 DPS with max skills, and 1500 upwards with implants and CN BCUs

Can field an evil active tank but dps is weaksauce on bc and below so it is frequently just ignored . Good for smacking around other BS though.

Just use a Phoon. A Navy scorp is not really that much better and as a faction killmail everyone is gonna focus on killing you first.

Why torps over cruise btw? Cruise are quite versatile and torps are awfull at hitting anything smaller than bs?

The idea of the tank was what interested me any good fits with torps?

The Navy Scorp is a lot better than a T1 Phoon, you cannot get the same blend of DPS, Tank/Buffer and full tackle with a target painter on a Typhoon because the slot layout and the CPU & power grid means that you will have to make a compromise somewhere. You might have to drop damage mods for armour tanking mods or drop neuts to fit turrets or have to lose the TP so you can fit a cap injector so you can run neuts for more than 30 seconds, you may need to drop EANM IIs and fit ANP IIs if you fit 5 launchers and 3 turrets and so on.

There is no way you can get 1300 DPS and 160k EHP (if you buffer fit) and be able to fit MWD, point, web and a painter on a T1 Phoon.

Is that worth the massive premium? that's up to individual players really, to me in a gang with other faction ships and shield logi support the Navy scorp makes sense and works well. If the gang is an armour gang though you are obviously better off in a Phoon.
