There has been a lot of old time faction war PvP'ers griping about how it desparately needs to be fixed. And lets face it once the mission patch hit it devistated the activity of fleets on all sides. Carebears infesting the joint, deluding faction ships/equiptment prices, and ofc not helping the cause.

So what I propose is you raise the standing level to 1.5 to join the militia. Faction Wars isn't a new thing, it was cool to have it at .5 to join when it was but now no.... This would also stave away the alts of people that would want to leech off the militias

Catpture of systems!

So to further the vision of faction wars make capturing a system worth it! What do we get when we occupancy has changed hands, a freaking pat on the back and face time. What I propose is simple deny the enemy faction from docking at faction stations, ie Tribal Liberation, Republic Fleet, 24IC ect...
This would push back the fight and can corner the enemy.

How would denial of docking in a captured system be viable?
Your miltia captured the system thus allowing they're faction total control of what is in that system.

Easy cature and retrieval of occupancy.

This is more for a balencing act for all militia's to not gain the upper hand too quickly. So make capture of a system easy. Not having to scan down dungeons and have them in plain veiew so that caturing a system brings ease of doing so.

Open question: levels of occupancy 1-5, Good or Not feasible?

I can't really make up my mind what needs to happen to fix FW, but it's obvious CCP needs to go back and invest so time into revamping it. But I just don't see that there is anything on the table for FW for many years to come. CCP did not go to the FW round table at FanFest, and there is nothing in the new CSM minutes say otherwise.

That sums it up unfortunately. FW is one of the numerous abandoned features that CCP has zero interest in ever messing with again. WH corps have the same issue. I very much doubt the promised t3 frigates and BS's will ever materialize, nor will they fix some of the clearly broken subsystems on the existing ships. I also wouldn't count on incursions being expanded or improved on even though the tools are allegedly there to do it easily.

For the next few years we can look forward to a series of single player addons. We will get additional CQ's with equally worthless functionality, we may get some sort of mini-games to play in station and yeah, that's about it. That's 2.5 years worth of expansions at the current rate.

Maybe they'll make us a 'I played Faction Warfare' t-shirt to wear at the bar drowning our sorrows with cheap booze.

Simple fix to faction warfare allow players to take 0.0 faction space as well thukker, Angel, Serpentis, Sydicate, Blood raider any NPC controlled low sec 0.0 space should be up for grabs with player should be able to align with any empire or pirate/cartel they want and get access to faction items for any of them. Secondly being a part of a Faction warfare should not have such a harsh standing hit. the reward isn't worth being excluded from the trade hubs and a 1/4 of space.

CSM/CCP minutes for May of 2011 talk about FW being one of the game's aspects they are abandoning.

I don't remember reading anyone say FW is going to be abandoned in the minutes. Can you post the quoted text? - I read over the Feature Abandonment section in the Minuets again. I don't think they are talking about just coming out and saying hey sorry but we're gonna axe wormholes or faction warfare, what they are saying is that CCP needs to talk about features which have not been looked at for a long time and talk about it. Not just give years of silence. And more importantly, to do this going into the future where other major game features might fall into the same situation as Faction Warfare. Maybe I'm not reading it right, but I don't see what sense it makes for CCP to axe a feature totally, unless they have a replacement. Even if CCP cannot commit to making changes to these features in the short term CCP needs to still talk about them and communicate with the people making use of these features, not just forget about them totally for years on end.

No, the CSM insinuated that it was already abandoned.
Quoted it in another thread but deleted minutes because they were empty .. something about CSm wanting CCP to have a Dev or two revisit abandoned features in which they included FW (easy to find, just search for "faction" .. the only mention of FW).

Hmm you would think that a feature they made a book about would be taken more seriously. have fun dust players Laughing

but seriously lads, I want to know if the idea is sounds like fun the hole point to it.

This was the most annoying bit for me when I did faction war. There was no point at all in messing with the whole occupancy system except gaining some faction standings and messing up the opposing factions standings beyond repair.

Being allowed to dock, repair, restock and use cloning services in tribal liberation stations in systems they held occupied felt about as immersion breaking as having a WW2 game where you play an SS tank commander restocking in red army bases with their engineering staff asking if they should have a look at your Tigers exhaust sounding funny...

Having joined the 24th IC the day Empyrean age roled out, I quite well remember CCP admitting the occupancy was rudimentary at best and would be iterated upon once they had seen how things turn out. Great job at 'iterating' there, CCP...Rolling Eyes

Well - doubt it's going to fixed before CCP is bankrupt due to Dust failing horribly...
