So much better than all those annoying smart people, these guys just fork over the $$$ & don't ask questions Great work - guess if a monocle is $80 you can expect hats that appear on your portrait to be about a grand yeah?

Nobody is forcing you, or anyone, to buy anything. If someone wants to waste money (ISK, PLEX, or otherwise) on an item that changes their characters appearance, let them. If CCP makes money off it, great. Maybe they can make enough of it that they can actually start spending some time updating EVE. Proper updates, mind you. Not WoD tests.
