Hi, I was wondering what you guys thought was a better battleship for missioning, a Megathron or Dominix and why. Thanks.

Dominix, as it makes much better isk/hour and/or more missions/hour.

Dominix, for the reasons mentioned above, assuming good drone skills. The dominix is better at applying damage at varying ranges, is less reliant on its guns, and is less inconvenienced by ECM, sensor damping or turret destabilizers. Blaster Megathron has serious range limits and a railgun Megathron does mediocre damage while having difficulty hitting smaller targets at closer ranges. A properly-fit sentry drone Dominix has a wider range of damage projection; my Garde IIs are effective against battleships from 5km to 35+ with a couple of omnidirectional tracking links. I just swap out to Wardens, Bouncers or Curators (depending on the target) for longer-ranged engagements -- a much faster process than switching ammunition if you sit within scoop range of all your drones. The drone damage bonus means even elite frigates melt satisfyingly quickly when engaged by your scout drones, assuming you can't pick them off on the way in with your sentries.

Obviously, if you have awesome gunnery skills and poor drone skills, a Megathron may be a better choice.

It depends upon the mission, really. I am quite found of my armageddon - burns through sanshas and blood raider missions insanely fast.

Dependant on where you are and what ships your trying to kill, What ship type is shooting at you, Is normaly what you should be using to shoot back.

I'm not sure there's really any point of high gun low drone skills that would make me use the mega over the domi. That is assuming you have the absolute basics for the both ships, ie you can use large guns, you can use 5 drones(sentries and/or heavies aswell as light drones).

While the gun dps is slightly lower(14-15% lower) the drone damage is higher, and the fitting is roughly the same(better slotlayout on the domi, better CPU/PG on the mega). I've just never seen and can't see any way the mega would actually be superior at any point of time or skill.

If it's not about only the mega and domi as suggested, I'd vote machariel.

Dominix is more efficient, easier, better, etc... etc...
But it's FUGLY!
Use the Dominix if you want efficient, AFK, ISK making, ugliness. Use the Mega once you get bored with the Dominix, then use the Hyperion once you get bored of the Mega. If you fit, and fly the Hype properly, it's tons of fun, and way sexier than the Dominix.
There's just something about those 8 425's blasting and tearing everything apart.Very Happy

Dominix is also a lot cheaper than most other BS's. You just can't beat it for level 4's. It's the most afk worthy, decent armor tank which can handle all of the level 4's. Drones do all the work for you.

I miss the old days of Diablo II where a necromancer could have a 100 skeletons and just run around and let the skeletons annihilate everything for you. cant do that in current eve, used to be able to in 'the good ole days' eve.

For a relaxing style pick a Dominix, activate the dualrep tank, get aggro with your civilian BB Gun, let out the drones and put on a kettle.

For a mad dash pick a Megathron, tell the docking technicians to fit a micro warp drive or afterburner, fill the cargohold with cap charges, load Antimatter into your T2 blasters and furiously chase down every single pirate vessel in the mission area.

Or board an active shield tanked Hyperion with 425mm autocannons and lay out some hilarious ownage, Duke Nukem style!ugh

Or fit a rack of T2 350mm rails to your Domi, a load of damage mods and tracking enhancers, a minimal shield buffer and a full complement of T2 sentries with a sentry damage rig and watch as everything gets destroyed before it manages to scratch you.

I went from the AFK domi to the rail mega, to the hyperion. I'm now firmly back in the domi with the above setup and it's the fastest I've ever run missions.

I love my Apocalypse for level 4s.

I can clear any level 4 mission easily, and can't remember the last time I had to warp off...

My approach isn't new, but it seems a little different than a lot of the fittings I've seen on battleclinic.

Instead of using tracking computers to increase my chance of hitting something, I use speed instead.

As soon as I jump in to a site, I kick off the afterburners and pull away.
The small enemies are much faster, of course. When they catch me, I unleash my drones on the scrammers and webbers. Once the ropes are cut free, I kick off the burners, and continue pulling away.

By now, the enemy big guns are hitting me, but I have a big speed advantage on them, and eventually I'm at optimum range (40 km for multifreq) for my guns, and they're barely hitting me at all.

Takes a little bit longer to clear a mission, but you don't burn up all your cap repping your armour. Also, my guns hit for big damage, as enemies are coming straight for you, with no tranversal damage penalties...

I know, old hat for the vets out there - but new for me, and proving effective.

It's been a while since I have logged in.

Is a Raven missile boat no longer a good choice for 4's?

of course. now it's the tengu all over the place.

some heretics suggest mach or nightmare but they probably just don't have missile skills maxed.
