What's so wrong about seeing adverts for stuff I'm likely to want (but still usually not buy) as opposed to random junk I have absolutely no interest in whatsoever ?  Then again, I don't have a Facebook account either. |

The funny thing about all this is people joked about this over the last few years. Some of it in this very forum when Wave, Chrome, ChromeOS happened. And now that it's happened, people are signing up for it without a second thought. Not I! :Edit: Also, Jasdemi, GTFO my OOPE. |

It's funny I was in a Mass media class the other day and we were discussing companies tracking your stats and info. A lot of people a few years younger than me dont have a problem with it or think it's a good thing. Rather they dont care or they like say coupons you get out of it.
I frankly dont understand that point of view. As a customer i'm here to buy something from you not pay you to track me. Kinda like the self check outs... I was unaware that I was paid to be your bagger, and cashier now.
Also I wonder if this is one of those anti argumentum ad populum. Facebook is popular so we must hate it. Google is not popular so must be better.

Privacy and having the scruples to know that postage stamp pictures do not friends make will always trump parasitic social media. But please, feel free to keep sharing. Someones got to make the rounds of failbook or whatever iteration that is to come. |

-1 I have more trust in Google than Facebook aswell. Atleast with my infos I know that only google will control it, unlike facebook where any third party can have access to it. |

I hardly ever use facebook anymore, why would I want to use another identical service? Especially now that all my contacts already is using facebook. Only real reason I use it is becuase of some of my family that is not great with computers but after a few years finally managed to use facebook and stay in touch :P
Facebook stoped being useful years ago when it abandoned its goal (and my reason to use it) as a way to share images with your friends. |
