Is there a page with downtime info?

I started playing not long ago and have noticed it's quite regular that the server crashes or goes down. I think it would be quite useful to have an information page on Eve you could go to whenever the server down to see what is up and get some information?

Would it be ok if it always said the same thing, maybe "We're sorry, something is wrong, we're doing our best to fix it" ?

They usually give us a little info to let us know what has happened, to their credit, e.g. "there's been a DDOS...", "we've had to shut the server down for an emergency reboot...", "we left the hamster cage open and they've all escaped..." It would just be nice to know ;)

We could replace CCP Navigator with a very small shell script.

That's cool. There should be a set page for it on Eve rather than a forum post to find every time.

Or maybe that's to keep us busy searching for info while we wait :)

That's not very nice. Why would you ever want to replace me!?

Actually, we do tend to have downtime pages for major expansions which show deployment updates. In an instance like today, the server downtime was so short that we had service restored before a downtime page could be created.

If you can twitter and facebook, how hard is it to make a webpage on an external server where you can post messages? I am even willing to make such a page for you guys... Just let me know.

it would free up your time maybe you could play more eve then or even golf, also replacing you with a script would save ccp some money then they could hire me

There's always Chribba's page.

http://eve-offline.net/

Sometimes it has comments regarding the downtime.
