Seriously? There weren't any plans for non-vanity items?

You could have killed the threadnaughts and the rage and the unsubs immediately!

Now, as with any business cancelation, a fraction of those unsubs won't come back. They'll realize "hey I didn't need that alt" or "hey I guess I was only playing this game out of habbit" or "hey maybe this is a good time to take a break" and that is income you have lost and will have to make up with entirely new subs. You idiots.

And you lost trust with your playerbase, for nothing. What the hell?

The only way I can make sense out of this is that there were, in fact, plans to introduce game altering items, and then you pulled back on that. But if not, holy lord, you are bad at this.

They didn't say no non-vanity.

They said no 'game-breaking' non-vanity.

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist here, but if you think every word of that dev blog was 100% the truth, you're an idiot.

The way they're pricing things, I don't expect that to become a real concern outside of some vague principle. "A hurricane for $15? What a deal!"

Look I'll be the first to say I hated on CCP for this bull**** patch and wholly lackluster from a company who has been dealing with the same playerbase since 03 - so they SHOULD know how to do it by now BUT-. Look at this quote from the Dev Blog: Dev Blog

"It is CCP‘s plan that the Noble Exchange (NeX store) will be used for the sale of vanity items only. There are no plans, and have been no plans, as per previous communication and CSM meetings, to introduce the sale of game breaking items or enhancements in the NeX store."

So this means, no game breaking items. Yes, I'm ASSUMING -and we know what that does- that CCP knows this means no ships, no ammo, no *poof!* generated items that can be used to gain some kind of advantage or bypass the player maintained economy.

If CCP DOES **** this up somehow, yea we'll be royally ****ed and rightly so because we would have been blatantly lied to.

All this said, CCP trainwreck-failed on PR here and getting the info out SHOULD NOT have required the CSM to fly up to Iceland and sort this out. Talk to your playerbase CCP, not a select group of players who you can cozy up to and force to sign a NDA. Could have EASILY avoided this entire debacle and saved all of us a huge headache from a weeks worth of raging and complaining.

The whole 'we never' doesn't pass the sniff test - it stinks like a rotten corpse.

However I am convinced the community has largely made its feelings felt and such plans are slumbering in a deep, dark place.

We must remain vigilant, however accounts remain subbed and its business as usual

Given that they said the same thing about MT as a whole last year, it doesn't hold a lot of weight, but that one sentence would have saved them a lot of trouble.

I myself am debating the pros and cons of playing eve again after a 1 week break. The whole thing gave me a bad impression of CCP.

Meh...

Before the CSM emergency meeting:

Dev Blog
Quote:

However, just to prove the point of the Fearless newsletter and give you a further understanding of what it is then there are no and never have been plans to sell "gold ammo" for Aurum. In Fearless people are arguing a point, which doesn't even have to be their view, they are debating an issue. This is another example of how information out of context is no information at all.

Dev blog when they introduced the NeX.
Quote:

So this thing is vanity items only?

Yes. We will start out with a rather limited number of items initially, carefully measuring the demand and how it impacts the economy. As time progresses, we'll gradually introduce new items and revise our strategy. We've also discussed this issue in depth with the Council of Stellar Management and will both consult with them and keep them up to date every step of the way.

Yup they didn't even try to tell everyone that there are currently no plans for MT or pay-to-win via the NeX.

As for the future of the NeX... We shall see.

Only idiots here are the players who made poor assumptions based off leaked internal documents taken out of context. There was never even the slightest reason to believe that CCP had any intentions of non-vanity items.

Meh, color me unimpressed.

All this hub bub about flying people here and there to say something that should have been said here on the forums from day 1?

I'm sorry, but it seems to me the CSM are NOT sharing all the details. Why spend thousands of dollars to ship people over to CCP HQ for something that could have been resolved in Skype? Something is up.....

Then why didn't the community representatives say that, in no uncertain terms?

If my business customers thought my business planned to go into the market of human trafficking due to sheer insanity, I would still put out a little statement immediately saying we aren't, actually, going to do that. Customer/Business is not an equal relationship. Fairness does not come into it. If it helps the business to explain something to the customer, then the business should do that. Ergo, CCP are idiots.

lol. When the company does basically NOTHING to dissuade what the documents said there's plenty of reason to be concerned. CCP could have easily fixed this and said 'no game breaking items' or 'internal memo was specifically to discuss, not to implement these ideas' and saved us and them all this bull**** and bad PR for Eve! Instead they had to drag it on with a meaningless sloppy PR job to bring in the 'voice of the players' / CSM all the way up to Iceland, at cost of CCP, to address something that could have been said the day the issues began in a 2 paragraph or less post / thread.

Whatever, this debacle it over for now, hopefully everyone concerned has learned something from it and thankfully Eve hasn't been ruined.

At least CCP must have much more financial ressources than we thougt. After all, they paid to fly the CSM to iceland although there were more immediate, more satisfactionaly, and above all in several ways cheaper ways to handle this situation.

Total _mess_

"They have the right" is such a 'funny' phrase. A "right" to do something implies so much beyond mere capability. I think it would be more correct to say they have the "power" to censor the CSM... not the "right", but hey... i'm a semantics fascist. Razz

They decided to throw the csm a bone.

Of course they could have posted their half page press release in the forums instead of doing this big dog and pony show of bringing csm out and making us wait. But then they wouldn't create the illusion that they listen to the csm.

You suck at tin-foil-asshattery to be honest, let me show you how its done.

The whole thing was orchestrated to perfection by CCP;
- They managed to get rid of a bunch of whiners who seemingly pay for their subscriptions only to be able to spam useless threads.
- The legitimized their failure to communicate both internally and externally, and can at any time in future point to this fact when something goes awry.
- They bought the devs a solid two week vacation as no one could/would expect them to get anything constructive done while the ****-storm raged.
- They successfully made all of Eve apart from a few die-hards (like your truly) forget about the shoddy state Eve is in balance and fun wise (nary a thread about sov, supers, angel ships, gallente etc. for two weeks!).
- They .....

Bloody well done I must say, hats off to their master tactician whomever it is!!!
