Apologize for what ?
For saying that he's not going to be catering to every possible whim of a tiny but noisy percentage of the game's population ?

Not sure if serious.

EXTREMELY serious.

Have you even READ the email after spending 10 seconds counting down to calm yourself and think rationally ?
Sure, it might sound mildly condescending, but then again, a lot of it is completely warranted considering the TYPE of reaction the forums were ablaze with at the time.

Did he say anywhere "our users are complete morons and we should milk each and every one of them for all they're worth" ?
OF COURSE NOT.
But somehow, that's what most people seem to think they could read between the lines.

Ah, yes, because everybody who doesn't lash out at anybody else when they make an even mildly condescending comment are automatically lapdogs ?
In other words, if I don't hunt you down through the entirety of EVE and I don't hire mercs to kill you everywhere you go, that would somehow make me YOUR lapdog ?

I agree, Hilmar does owe us an apology.

This whole CSM meeting thing seems a little suspicious anyway,

I feel like they're just telling us what we want to hear and I'm betting it is different than their original intentions.

If no one had said anything or complained about it, I guarantee there would've be P2W within 6 months.

So instead of complaining about the whiners, you should thank them for saving this game!

I should have been whining with you tbh.

IMO this issue about Hilmar's e-mail and the Fearless newsletter are the two least addressed issues in this whole fiasco of miscommunication and lousy implementation of the Nex thingamajig.

Let's be frank here, Hilmar comes off in that e-mail as a greedy ***k who doesn't give a rat about the community that drives this game.
You'd think that they'd want to change that perception? Or at least say something to minimize the damage?

And brushing off the newsletter as toilet reading that has no value is kinda weird because where I work there's a similar thing, and it is always an indication of what management is considering at the given time. It's a beta test of ideas and hardly ever do those ideas disappear after being worked on enough to appear in a company wide publication.

I don't understand this particular bit of outrage. Here is a hint about how ANY business works; the guys at the VERY top look at customers as little wallets that they want to empty. That. Is. Just. a. Fact.

Its also a good thing, you need someone like that to keep a company profitable :P

CCP isn't a charity designed to make everyone's day a little bit brighter when they play EVE. If you think it is, you are being a bit too self-centered.

At least the guy at the top at CCP knows the game exists, and probably has played a time or two, can't say the same all the way up the blizzard chain of command(Vivendi) or any of SOE's games(if Sony's top dogs knew about the existence of EQ other than as a line on a spreadsheet it would amaze me).

Having someone in charge who will push the envelope, even into uncomfortable areas, is a good thing.

"That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to _what is actually happening_ and new knowledge gained in addition to what we knew before and expected."

Sounds like he cares a great deal about the community input to me. He says explicitly that success comes from learning from and adapting to the community.

Then why the hell have I been witnessing the same lack of communication skills since EVE's Beta?

This happens with such regularity that you'd think it's almost intentional!

Adapting to what is happening is all good in theory and word but you must make the effort to actually do it and CCP really have tried but they always use the same approach when they fail. Try to ignore the problem away.

In this case the players really went the distance to counter that behaviour though.

And in case you didn't notice he says in the same e-mail that the important issue is what the community does instead of what they say. So he values our input but only what we do? (pay our subs)?

An option not to load CQ until CQ functions as well as the old hanger is not an option. I dont wont to load CQ ever. I rarely enter a station, but when i do, i want to move fast and CQ slows things down. Not just because of the graphics interface (which is an additional load time), but because the interface to fuctionality is all over the place. Just give me back the old hanger please and not temporary, for good.

I've spent the last year in w space, do you really think I care about walking around inside a station interacting with people?

I'll interact with them in my own way, with the heavy pulse laser II's on my Legion in space, where we belong.....

/forum

It's been fun poking my nose into here the last month to watch all the ZOMFG RAEG going on from spazzes and bandwagon jumpers.

It's clear from the general concensus here that anyone who has the AUDACITY to criticise the [constantly whining, *****ing, crying and trolling] vocal members of the eve community are obviously doing it as PERSONAL INSULT AGAINST ME PERSONALLY AND I DEMAND IMMEDIATE ACTION AND AN APOLOGY OR I'M GOING TO UNSUB AND TAKE MY STUPID WHINING ELSEWHERE.

Most of the poasters here need to grow a pair and/or learn to reason.
