You see, Trebor, this is why we don't trust you and why so many people are referring to the CSM as a joke. You're either intentionally misrepresenting the entire situation or truly are clueless about how the community actually feels. So let's clarify it: We're not ****ed off because CCP failed to clearly communicate its plans for EVE to us. On the contrary, we have a very clear understanding of where CCP is headed and have already seen part of it with our own eyes with the release of Incarna.

Sorry, Trebor, but this is not just a big misunderstanding. Not by a long shot. A very significant portion of EVE players are fundamentally opposed to where CCP wants to take EVE, and we have no intention of being fleeced to pay for it. CCP's behavior has been appalling, if not entirely unexpected. But the response of the CSM has been slow, disorganized, and generally somewhat clueless. Many of us had hoped that would not be the case.

Unfortunately, the general consensus is that the CSM members have become willing participants in CCP's MT-fuelled dog and pony show. So no, we don't trust you. And no, your big 'joint statement' is not going to be taken at face value. It's going to be treated with the same skepticism with which many players have now learned to treat everything produced by CCP.

A little less frat boy partying and a little more attention to effective communication with the community might done wonders to change the perception of the CSM. The community's united response over the last week provided you and your fellow CSM members with a golden opportunity to finally push for a serious revision of CCP's long-term development roadmap. Instead, we've seen nothing but stalling and bragging about hangovers and partying with the devs.

Why is this whining going on now ? Give them some rest.

We should appreciate that CCP may actually make pretty tough decisions here and that they, as a company, have an interest in communicating them they deem fit. We can be sure that the CSM influenced CCP to the best of their potential, and the CSM have surely maintained an unnegociable player standpoint.

One simple question, CCPs credability on the line.

Game Changing Microtransactions, Deal or No Deal??

Not really a hard question to deal with unless your wearing $1000 pants

Seeing as none of them speak Russian or German at a certified translator skill level, it should be obvious they've turned it over to a professional translation service. Also, take a look at time zones on a map sometime.

Its not going to help what ever CSM or CCP says.. these crybabys has already made up their mind..most made up their mind without even reading the so called leaked newsletter and mails. So why would they care now? They claim that most if eve community are with them.. but thats not true at all.. 95% of eve doesn't even care about this ****.. and this is why they gonna rage again because they don't realize how few really cares about this after all.

CSM and CCP.. keep up the good work!

Lets give the CSM a break guys. They do this for us in their own time, sure the communication could have been better, but we can say that about most other organizations can't we?
They do a good job representing the community and I'm sure they have laid it all out for CCP. We should applaud the CSM for taking the time to fly all the way to Iceland on our behalf, lets not forget that- they are there for us. I know feelings are running high around the community, but lets get right round the CSM and show them our full support.

Now we have to wait for a video (that nobody cared 5 minutes before) to come out with the transcripts in 3 languages.

Next thing we'll get is that they are preparing a remake of "Enemy at the Gates" Eve-style to summarize this whole SNAFU.

Stuff better be good.

from what i have read these last days the issue with CCP not answering by a simple "yes" or "no" was because there were an issue on what is considered "vanity items" and what is not.

if answer is big, i think it's because they will explains what they include inside the definition of "vanity items", and give examples (or maybe all) of what will be added with MTs, and what will not be.

it will also avoid them be called liars later if they add something that people find strange ; if they tell now what will be it will be easier.
and of course if they change their mind another time the rage of today would be nothing compared to what would happen.
and with complete information it will be easier for everyone to think about how they consider these acceptable or not.

that's the only explanation fitting the context i can see.

You know it's not really that hard a thing to describe. Vanity items are items and services that only provide cosmetic effects. So a Monocle doesn't offer some sort of play bonus is vanity. A paint job that can be applied to an existing ship and doesn't change any of it's base stats is a vanity item.
Some wall art for your captain's quarters is a vanity item.

Extra save slots in the fitting tool is not vanity only.

Faster training is not vanity ownly. Blue prints that combine with existing items to create items in the game with superior stats than it's base product is not vanity only.

Once again vanity items are ones that only provide a cosmetic change.

It's not complicated any item or service that has any affect beyond altering cosmetic appearances is non-vanity.

Not surprised. Not even disappointed.

After the 24th I could give two poops about the MTs, personally. It's one thing to be the soul-less money-hoovering corporation. It's another to pretend you're not and then when you get caught not even have the cahones to man up.

No point in listening.

Good day, sir. o7

You can think whatever you think. Assumptions based on partial evidence is still assumptions. This is why the CSM is there, and if you want to keep assuming the worst, that's your stance.

If you guys want to know what they think, just glance at their twitter feeds and see their reactions. It's not that bloody hard.

No, I disagree - there is absolute confusion over where Eve is going. On the one hand, we have clear and unambiguous past statements saying no microtransactions of any kind, including for vanity items. On the other, we have the simple fact that the NeX store exists. We also have a leaked internal newsletter, plus what seems to be a leaked internal e-mail from Hilmar Petursson, CCP's CEO, seeming to indicate that this leaked newsletter contains the intended future of Eve - and this newsletter contains plans of non-vanity items coming to NeX. On the other, we have CCP Zulu saying quite clearly that this newsletter was merely internal questions and debating, and (eventually) giving a fairly clear statement that non-vanity items are NOT coming to NeX.

So, here's what I suggest as a way of clearing things up, once and for all - whether as part of this 'joint statement' or as a separate thing, Hilmar himself publicly posts a clear, unambiguous statement as to whether there are currently any plans, at any stage of development, or of any kind, for non-vanity items to be sold in Eve for real-life money by any method that cannot be currently used to obtain such items. To be absolutely clear, doing something like altering the PLEX system to allow directly converting a PLEX to these items would be counted as a method that cannot currently be used to obtain them, in much the same way as adding them to the NeX store would be.
