:(((((((((((

When the Amarr still had their hair adornments and the races actually looked unique and there was more than a single goddamned room.

Now that was a hanger view, much better sense of scale than what we currently have.

And bring back the Amarr outfits! Sadly they'd probably be 20,000 AUR or more, you know if you want to look regal according to CCP's current mentality.

What I was thinking as well. Quite nice video tbfh. Could use (the only thing I really thought Incarna would actually add to the :spaceship: game) player-driven stores here and there too.

And those were REAL captains quarters. Not the one room ****hole of today.

Honestly I would rather the CQ we have now than that. In the video it's extremely bland.

The CQ we have now can't handle advanced graphics tho, so in effect, the characters today look worse than they did in that "bland" video.

My alts (Misanth and my main havn't even docked since Incarna release) have their skin hanging, skin details are completely gone, their facial features are deformed, etc.. It's quite ironic we spend time on making the characters look good, just to have them actually look worse then if we'd have something simple. Razz

I think most of the problems with the look of avatars in the CQ is the lighting. The way it's done now looks like it would if you shine a torch on something in a dark room. The CQ needs more light sources to smooth out the avatar shading.

The main problem for me is, if you hadn't put your racial tag under your character avatar I would never have guessed you were Amarr.

The new Char creation is homogenous crap that really destroys the sense of history in eve and the current implementation of walking is stations with really poor optimisation and lighting is secondary to this IMHO.

Eve as a single shard goes a long way to make it feel like a place with HISTORY, and to completely revamp player characters so they look nothing like they used to be is disrespectful to this ideology.

I agree completely, a full range of racial only clothing, accessories, tattoos, etc should be released to give back each races identity. Items specific to one race should not be allowed to be used by any others.
There should always be a range of generic clothing for those that want it though.

What I can't understand is why CCP have take the route that they have with the races as the lore is one of the reasons I started playing EvE in the first place.

That video looks ok for 5 years ago. Seems they used Unreal 2 engine?
Still that level of graphic detail (read really LOW) is needed to make incarna work AT ALL. Otherwise you end up with overheating crappy computers and 7 frames per second ... with only ONE ROOM and ONE avatar on the screen. It has ZERO chance ever working with more than one avatar in current form (with crappy Nvidia "realistic" dolls).

One of the interesting things about what they've done is they've really simplified the character creation process even more compared to pre-incarna. If you guys remember, Gallente used to have all sorts of nice touches like those cool helmet visors and the like along with other races that had their own bits of gear on their portraits.

If I were to speculate and put on my tinfoil hat, I'm actually expecting CCP to be re-introducing this stuff through the micro-transaction store, which would only enrage me further.

When i created my invention/manufacturing alt i picked amarr because of the clothing and hair accessories but was very disappointed when i saw the character creator and all these race specific items were missing Sad

Its kind of sad that the old Ambulation concept is a hell of a lot better then the one now. Whats going to be even more funny is once they push Incarna past just CQ and you have to load 50-100 peoples avatars in station. I await to see the masses who can't run it or that their GPU explodes when they load Jita station.

To be honest, I don't care which CQ looks better, but I really want that hangar view. The new one is total crap compared to the old.
Damn, I'd really love to see a Rokh in the old hangar view Shocked

At the pace CCP works at, it will be another 2 to 3 years before WiS is any where near decent. But even then I would want the ship hanger, with the option to disembark into my CQ.

But what if I'm a Gallente student, who has just come back from a gap year helping poor disdvantaged Minmatar villagers to dig a well? Surely I should be wearing some kind of tribal gown and weirdly shaped ear-rings, or none of my colleagues will believe what an amazingly life-changing experience it was?

looking back at this i am kinda wishing htye didnt wait for all the fancy new technology to come out and just have it like that, it feels so much more to the style of EVE and you can tell what race folks were back then

I trust you fine people are familiar with the concept of introducing features and content in steps. Walking in Stations is pretty much an entirely new game, that does take time. I doubt they'll stick to the current design of the CQ, as a three-wall box with an wide hole to the hangar. That's just there to give us something to work with.

But maybe if we make enough of a fuss they'll drop WoD and DUST development, focus all attention on EVE and bring out the rest of WiS tomorrow. Good, sound plan, can't see any flaw in that.

THESE

seriously i can not stress just how much i was looking forward to finally getting a decent sense of scale in EVE like what was portrayed in the trailer linked in the OP; what we have now is laughable as frigates are maybe 1/10th the size of battleships in the hangar and none of the ships, even my archon, look all that big. certainly nowhere near the proper sense of titanic scale of the zealot (a mere cruiser) in that video

How many accounts do you have Spank?

Seriously?

The engine that drove WiS then couldn't support WoD, hence the new engine. You just need to remind yourself its not for EVE, its for sparkle queens.

And if it's for WOD then it can GTFO of EVE and be replaced with something better IMHO.
