I just spent $1500 for lots of computer parts to get CQ to work.Evil or Very Mad
Newegg.com is also sending me "TOTAL WAR SHOGUN 2 RT" for free.

Has anybody heard of the game? Is it any good?

No but I've heard of the game called Google where you type the word Shogun followed by the word review and hit the enter key for a mystery prize.

You should have seen the big fuss when they REMOVED the classic client...

...it was all fire and brimstone and talk of CCP making pacts with various demons for weeks.

I tried one of the Total War games, but ever since I played Company of Heroes no other RTS really cuts it.

Congrats on the purchase!

You didn't need to spend that much. I spent 500 on a rig from newegg last august that plays CQ perfectly fine with max settings. Of course I had a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate already and a monitor, which could add to your cost. You don't need the "best of the best", just something recent. My rig is essentially an AMD Athlon x3, a single Radeon 5770, and 4 gigs of decent ram.

And Total War games are great, though Rome Total War is still the best

Total War Series

Medieval I
Meh...

Shogun I
No idea...

Rome
Amazing, but buggy after your empire gets fairly large.
Graphics are so-so.
Expansion
Barbarian Invasion - Meh...

Medieval II
Amazing, still a bit buggy, but the new mechanics they added are very nice.
Graphics are amazing (or were).
Expansion
Factions
Friggin' awesome, I loved played as the Danes, Teutons, or Knights Of Jerusalem.
Factions expansion was better than Medieval II itself in a lot of ways.
Americas
Eh... I kept getting bored with having to trot my native tribe groups over half the map to find anything worth bothering with.

Shogun II
No idea, but I will probably buy it to find out for myself.

I've played every total war game and most of the expansions. In my opinion Shogun 2 is the best of the series.

LOL I bought a new comp too, and he probably made the right choice.
While you can run CQ on max setting on a new midrange comp, it still lags compared to space. And it will lag 10x as bad when then open it up to walking in stations.

Another reason I won't be around. CCP's sloppy coding will make docking a nightmare for some time to come.

The Total War series are the best Strategy Game you can find. It combines turn base nation building with intense Real Time battles.

I suggest you watch the History channel and learn some tactics. Those tactics will allow your pitifully small force to win against much, much greater force.

I would love to play the Shogun II, but sadly my current comp just can't handle it. But the first Shogun was fanfreakingtastic. Wish they would hurry up and Make Rome II, total war.

You forgot $1000 pants. CQ doesn't work without $1000 pants.

You wasted about 1000 dollars on parts you probably didn't need. Don't blame CQ for making you buy a totally new PC.

Could have bought a nice collection of monocles for that much. Of course, your purchase is tangible and actually does something. So i think you made the right choice.

shogun 2 is quite good the campaign map is a tad smaller than me2, i never played the original but its nearly as good as medieval 2. great detail, not that many units mostly rock paper scissors mentality.

read a review perhaps. also gz on the new rig. even though one for about 700 would of done it nps.

Its still rubbish.

80% cpu usage on a amd6000 ffs.

680mb footprint for two rooms. QuestionQuestion

Also the controls are horrendous. Truly. Its impossible to walk in a straight line - nice one ccp. Also impossible or nigh on impossible to stand in front of your mirror and face it. Again. LOL?

So much fail.

You mean you spent money to get a non busted ass system, cause you were to cheap before.

Computer gaming/gaming in general means having to upgrade something every few years... Get use to it.

ZOMG NOT WINDOWS 7!!! GIVE ME BACK XP AND MY 3 GB/s OF RAM!

Also shogun 2 is good.

Lol, 1.5k on a computer .....

2 years down the line I would have spent half that and still be up to date.

Newegg is a con.

Ninja edit: fixed grammar.

Idle curiosity, did you skip Empire/Napoleon for a reason? Other than the plague Empire turned out to be that is.

Original Shogun was good, Rome was great, M2TW great, rest mediocre. Didnt buy Shogun 2 due to the massive issues Empire had, but a friend did and he loves it.

Getting it for free is definately not something to complain about in that case.

Full stack of Janissary archers defending the ford east of Antioch against 3 full stacks of mongols - deeply satisfying slaughter - love those stakes Laughing

Must get shogun II

I have played every TW since the original Shogun. The latest installment is actually quite good, which is saying something coming from CA.
