I have never owned a firearm, but I really liked the feel of roams in EVE, I figure I could do the same just shooting animals in some distant area, but I wanted a gun that spoke to me.

I went shopping at the local range, learned I need ALOT of training before I can safely handle one but my dream of shooting random animals is one shared by men across the world.

Rifles are incredibly popular but don't offer the "home defense" training that pistol hunters can attain. Being once again in a harsh universe I looked at all the shiny guns, I found one I liked, it is a 357 magnum to be specific it is a Smith and Wesson 686 4 inch barrel and a wooden grip.

Talking to the dealer I learned this pistol would not only kill any critter I could run into in the Southeastern US, but also could dispatch an entire team of Russian invaders should the red army attack.

Not being sure about "red army" part of the advice I declined the purchase (~$1000 ammo/tax/permits) and signed up for a gun class.

Firearms are exactly like eve I am literally going to get an certification that is called "Core Competency Basic" just like EVE =)

The .44 Magnum Auto-Mag holds a 300-grain cartridge. And, if properly used, it can remove all fingerprints.

I don't have to worry about a well trained and adept gunman shooting me accidentally.

In that sense, a toddler is probably the last person you want to see with a gun.

True to a point, I grew up hunting, and shooting with my family. And I feel far more comfortable around my 14 cousin then most grown men when it comes to carrying firearms. It not about the training, nor the understanding of the machanics, it is about common sense.

So ill rework my statement. Nothing scarier then a idiot that thinks he knows about guns.

Currently for home defense I use a WASR10/63 Romanian AK-47. Despite the rumors of being utter garbage, I've put 750 rounds through it with only 1 failure to feed, and 1 failure to eject. For what it is, and for only $450, I'm very happy with it.

The company I work for requires all employees to undergo defensive training and carry at least two guns (main and back up) at all times.

So I carry a Springfield XD 40 and a Sig P238.

And all I do is personel and supply management. Laughing

Best home defense firearm is the pump action 12 gauge. It's action is very loud and is the scariest sound you can hear from the other side of a door, and there is no way in hell you can miss. Also from 25 yards it'll tear a person in half

Lol @ the liberal, anti-gun nancies in this thread. You're alive today and living comfortably posting in a video game forum because someone, at some point in time, shot another man. Hypocritical much?

Wouldn't there be more of us alive today and living comfortably if those people hadn't been shot?

I don't want to accidently get shot by you Tom so if you could do me a Favour.

Anytime you have the Gun wave it around in the air. If I happen to run into you in real life I will steer clear of you when you have the gun easily identied as waving. Make sure it is visible so people don't think you are saying hello and shout a Warning like I might kill you all.

Do that Tom and the world will be a safer place.

Home Defense: You want a shotgun. Simple. Nothing else. Nowhere near as difficult to hit a target in a frantic situation as a handgun.

If you're thinking its too close-quarters, then son you don't need a gun, you need a knife.

Pack a non-lethal round followed by a lethal. That way the stigma of using it in a defense situation is removed (you can have all the training in the world but you still face killing someone when you're looking down that barrel, a lot of people would hesitate).

The first shot you will make is a warning shot which will incapacitate the intruder, the second if they keep on coming will kill.

Rifles: Competitive shooting or hunting. Great fun, have shot many many of these in my time.

Handguns: Of no use whatsoever to the general public except for concealed carry (which should not be allowed for the general public imo) or rudeboys.

I'm not in favour of banning pistols or handguns, I have many friends who shoot them competitively just as I do rifles however to choose a ".357 magnum" ahead of a shotgun for home defense only highlights your immaturity and incapability of making a sensible decision.

Never carry unless you intend to use.

I'm just screwing with you guys. Don't really care about guns either way myself, so i don't take the matter as seriously as some of you might.

People can be killed by a sword, or tree branch, or anything. So it's not really like we owe everything to the mighty gun.

I completely disagree. If someone is going to use a weapon on someone in the realm of self defense you do not aim to injure. You aim to kill. PERIOD! Read about the tests done with 30 cal bullets. A man can still travel xx feet before dying. You never injure. You kill. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
