Let's face it, we lose. MT is here. So, in an effort to be productive I would like to participate by giving ideas and suggestions of models of MT to take a look at.

Everquest 2 has a good MT system. Their pay to win items are for those leveling up. You can buy a full set of Mastercrafted gear(IE the community can make this and you can buy it from crafters in game, or simply use your wallet to buy it from the MT store). I think that limiting the pay to win to items that help those trying to catch up on 8 years of EVE, like myself, is a good thing, really.

How do we do it? Below I will explain how it can be implemented without outright purchase of ships and other goods from the MT store. I am also going to list real items I would like to see, that I consider to NOT be game breaking or give me an advantage compared to someone that has been playing for a significant amount of time, IE years that it takes to fly some ships.

Ships, Ammo, Skillsbooks and Blueprints:

Ditch Digger - Mining Frigate - I want an AFK mining frigate on the low end of things. 2 turret Hi slots, huge cargo capacity(6000+ before cargo expanders)instead of cargo bonus, mining bonus. Compensate by making it reallly, really slow or any other way that does not include gimping mining.

How to implement?

Ditch Digger requires:
Advanced Frigate Mining I skillbook: 1750 AUR

Ditch Digger production requires:
Ditch Digger Blueprint Original: 1750 AUR

Do this with ammo and turrets and rigs and anything else that can be manufactured.

The consumer buys the skillbook for AUR to be able to use the pay to win item, the producer buys the blueprint for AUR to make the pay to win item. CCP does not magically make the item out of thin air, players make the item and sell it for ISK, players buy the item with ISK.

The caveat: DO NOT make a Titan that requires Basic Titan I skill book only so that a noob can have a Titan the first day of their career. Make these items take an appropriate amount of time to be able to use, just like current items.

Boosts, Stat Items and Resets:

I bought the Commissioned Officers Edition for 15 bucks at Gamestop and am so glad I did. It is pay to win because it has the Cerebral Accelerator that gives: Bonuses: +3 to all attributes; +20% Damage to Laser, Projectile and Hybrid weaponry; +20% Rate of Fire to Missile weaponry. It is also semi persistent as if you get pod killed you can petition to have it restored via a GM. I have done this once. I would love to be able to have this outside of the first 35 days of a characters creation.

Cerebral Accelerator II: 3500 AUR/30 Days
Same as Cerebral Accelerator with the exception of simply lasting 30 days regardless of character registration age. Oh, and make it persistent so we dont have to bug GMs when we get pod killed.

Neural Remap: 1750 AUR
That's right. You are crazy if you think this affects anyone else's gameplay. It would be a HUGE boon for new players.

Additional Skill Queues:

As of right now EVE may as well only have one character on the login screen, one's main as you cant skill up on more than one toon at a time.

Lets resolve that:

Running Skill Queue for a second(and/or third) character on the SAME account: 3500 AUR/30 Days

This lets me not have to buy a second account, manage two password, two emails bla bla. CCP wins because I can only play one character at a time still, I simply paid to let more than one have a running queue. If I wish to play more than one character at a time then guess what, I still need 2 accounts. WIN/WIN.

Conclusion and your additions:

These are the high points for me, the things that frustrate me so far, the things I think would really make me feel like I have more options and really make me invest more, both financially and chronologically into EVE.

Add your suggested MT items below. Let's be positive and productive, please.

SP MT is indeed a big cash grab opportunity since EVE has super-slow character progression. But they would actually have to offer compelling gameplay to go with it. Wink

Hmmm, titan frig body kit - I'm liking the sound of that. With realistic doomsday effect? I'm sold.

You forgot to mention these items:

1) instant cargo teleport;

2) instant ship jump instead of 17 gates;

3) fleet bonuses without actual fleet;

4) "instant alt" - logi / tank / dps / orca / freighter pet;

5) "ammo everythere";

6) and of course those $1000 designer jeans (or monocle - whatever - it has to be helly expensive).

well, so far I haven't seen any micro-transactions. All i have seen are a few crap items that cost a month or more of subscription time. I'm wonderin if any of these guys unstand the concept of nickel and dime you customer to death. There's a reason it's not called $5 and $10 your customer to death...

Also, EQ2 went F2P because of the amount of people bailing on that game after all the MT junk went in. So, not what I would call a good example. Unless you were trying to give an example of what happens to your game when you implement a major cash grab.

He's making suggestions for new stuff. All that stuff you listed has been in game for a long while now (except the monocle which was just added).

What I don't understand. Why want anybody play a MMORPG, when he don't have to play it to progress? Isn't any MMORPG about progress and small success on the way of becoming a better player?

I don't know if logon - injecting skills into your queue - logoff - is "playing?"
I mean in EVE you can "progress" to 100 mil SP without even undocking or ever seeing another player ..

The Commisioned Officer Edition ones are occasionally on the market for sale and have been since the COE came out. It is only for new characters tho as it doesnt work past 35 days of a characters life.

I don't see how we've lost anything yet.
Non-vanity MT makes it to the game, I'm gone for good.
It's CCPs turn now so stop posting bull**** like this.

EQ2s MT system is terrible and gave the game its killing blow.

Also, wtf is with you having a completely different opinion on TL?

I hear that that is all one really does once you get to higher levels of play in EVE when you have 30 day queue time skills.

Having 2 alts sitting doing nothing is also not playing. Why not get rid of the other two characters on each account then?

TL?

I have had time to think about it and have resigned myself to the fact that MT is here. It is time to move on.

EQ2's MT shop only has pay to win on their 1 free to play server. ALL of the other normal servers only have vanity items.

The thing with the Ferrari logo's on the Fiats is that Fiat has done it themselves, not the vehicle owners. (I'm not sure it's optional or that it just comes with the car though.) The reason that they're allowed to do this is that the Fiat company owns a majority of the Ferrari shares.

Hey that's a great idea!

3500 AUR for another character, max of 2 other characters besides the main - this way people will think twice before posting stupid **** (unlike me right now)

Also they should reinstate a fee for customizing your character, this way you will actually THINK before you start customizing and making him look silly. I'd say 1000 AUR would be sufficient.

Here are my ideas:

- 99.99% Omni-hardener
- 500% dmg mod for all weapons that I use
- 500% speed boost for all my ships
- Dommstay Button (every 30 seconds)
- Concorde ignored me button
- Invisible in every Local Channel
- Can still see all cloaked ships
- and a loot/salvagepet

Non-vanity =/= pay to win. Someone suggested a demo recoder for eve a loooong time ago and everybody thought it would be a good idea- making a demo recorder for eve is espescially easy since there are so few actions performed by the player each second. If they could get something like that working I would absolutely pay aur for it.

There must be other ways like that to add features without affecting game balance
