The current dev blog perfectly stats that the no gold ammo means, No game changing items will be sold for plex.
-- the scorpion issue was already resolved -- CCP WANTED to sell custom ship skins, via bpc bought in the NeX store, however, when it was introduce the bpc, created the ship out of thin air, RATHER than consuming the base ship for it. The community called bs on this with rage, and CCP zulu freely admitted it ON EVE TV that yeah oops we are sorry we made a mistake, and until such time we will NOT be doing this, until we can find an agreement with the community to properly approach this issue.
-- the memo -
He also perfectly explains that the internal news letter was a debate in the company, which would show the pros and cons. FOR ANYONE that has worked for a real company, this is done to help establish personal views build relationships within the company and you know, debate hot issues in the field. In this case ccp was debating internally about the extent of microtransactions.
This obviously lead to a rage storm when it hit the community. However if you look at it, you have never seen a community more unified before with one voice.
WHO is to say that maybe CCP didnt release this letter on purpose to really get the community going and unify on an issue?? The same thing with Hillmar's letter. Did everyone not stop to think that this was a huge issue that if we all rallied and raged got this all in the news, that maybe, that maybe.. Other game developers would take note of this and maybe change their game plan? That maybe CCP is trying to re-define the gaming world on how to balance out Micros and subscriptions?
We still only have half the story here, but you all are in too much of a rage to stop think a moment, that CCP is going to do the right thing and has listened to us. Yes hillmar's letter said we would listen to their actions and not their voices, you think that the mass protests arent actions? shooting monuments in 2 systems in protest of even 1 person at ccp considering the idea? That is the community's actions, that got their attention.
Our voices were heard, they have called the CSM. Ill wager that by next week, there will be super official statements saying no game changing items for money. Then most of us will look stupid.
Though all the rage quitters are all going to games with huge RMT and MT, which i find kind of funny.

Look up what employees actually say about working for CCP, then rethink this point. |

I haven't gone to any of those games, I've also not raged on the forums about this despite not liking the direction either, despite cancelling an alt sub. This is also not the first thread, or post, that brings this analogy and assumption up as a possibility, so your title is misleading. The biggest issue is CCP has lied to the players and CSM before, look back a year ago when they said no microtransactions, and has taken a smug attitude about the situation so of course people are skeptical about taking them at their word. Sadly you are generalizing and acting just as childish as the people you are looking down on with the use of terms like rage quitting. |

It's not just about MT and non vanity items, check out the list below:
Lying to CSM and userbase. Forcing CQ on users. Prioritising development resources into fluff rather than functionality. Inability to rectify existing problems before creating new ones. Inability to communicate properly with userbase.
Recently CCP have just gone too far and people are just fed up. |

Then why did they simply not leave it at that? Why are they calling the CSM to Iceland for an "extraordinary meeting" to discuss an issue that could be left to die with "no gold ammo"? |

Because the player-base is going bat-**** crazy over rumors. You have fascist players saying they'll gank anyone they see with a monocle. There are players here saying they are going to ruin the gameplay of others because CCP has done something that makes them grouchy. People are going nuts because the monocle costs $60. So what? Do you all through rocks through Gucci's windows? If you don't, then you need to think "am I a hypocrite?" |

Pretty much. Agree or don't with the VR (Virtual Riot) this was coming. I don't buy in to the everyone is quitting, this is the end of EVE crap. I think this is just another campaign in a game full of prpaganda and strategic rage but this was predictable. |

Still...CCP could easily put all of this to rest simply by confirming previous promises. Instead, they want to remain silent for another week. What are they doing, giving themselves time to figure out how to spin the issue so that they can't technically be caught in a lie? Why do they need to speak to the CSM about this? The CSM can't change our minds. CCP knows what is and is not acceptable to the players, not that all would agree anyway. CCP, you don't need to meet the CSM face-to-face to find out what the issues are. There is a threadnought with thousands of replies and over a million reads where every issue has been hashed and rehashed over and over again. You need not even read it from the beginning. If you monitor it for one hour, you'll get all the issues... although you should already know everything you need to know. With all of the issues, there is still only one question. Yes or No... non-vanity items, or not? It doesn't take a week to answer that question. |
