This won't get read because I generally never say anything important or meaningful online or in real life, but for everyone that reads this, especially if you're in Jita qq'ing, I want you to really sit back and think about something.

Ask yourself: Does this really affect me?

Now, sit back and think some more about the potential butterfly effect from this... NeX stuff is sold on the market for in-game ISK. People with unadulterated amounts of wealth in real life buy mountains of NeX stuff and throw it on the market for people who have unadulterated amounts of wealth in-game to buy and spruce up their in-game persona. Who benefits here? CCP, because they're a for-profit business and just made some money, and the player that sold the in-game stuff, who is now potentially a half-billion isk richer and can go buy a few more ships, mods, and other stuff that makes their in-game experience that much better. The person buying the vanity items doesn't benefit that much, other than enlarging his e-peen.

Go a step further: the guy that just made a half-billion in-game from this sale sells a few more in-game items and ends up with 5 billion isk. He goes and buys a bunch of other in-game items that makes him stronger in-game, but also improves the economy of the alliance producing and selling the in-game items which allows the alliance to re-invest in whatever ventures they're interested in. The guy who bought all the stuff is in an alliance at war with the alliance he bought the stuff from, and the alliance selling the products gets into a fleet battle with the buyer's alliance and blows up his stuff. 5 billion isk lost, 5 billion isk gained.

To buy aurum, you need plex. To buy plex, you need either real money, or a ton of in-game money. Plex sales benefit CCP, which is no different than aurum sales since plex is needed to buy aurum.

The NeX has NOT BEEN CONFIRMED to have anything else than vanity items, which ultimately is no different than CCP selling plex, which allows you to ultimately buy in-game money for real money.

Let me repeat myself...

The NeX HAS NOT BEEON F***ING CONFIRMED to allow people to purchase ships, SP, or other in-game related goods other than vanity items.

That said, to all the qq'ers... how does this really affect you?

How many of you were this ****ed off at Sony when their PSN servers were hacked and taken offline for a month? Did you all bail out on PSN and Sony?

What about when Toyota had issues with their cars not stopping and randomly accelerating? Did you all bail out on Toyota?

Did you all bail out on your banks and liquefy your assets and keep your cash under your mattresses when the economy took a dump and banks started failing left and right?

You didn't.

Now shut up, get over yourselves and your stupidly oversized egos, and play the God damned game.

tl;dr: Eat a bag of baby d***s and read the whole post since you're not doing anything better than floating in Jita and protesting anyway.

We know that selling other than vanity has not been concerned, but the fact that they have considered (or have been considering) it is enough for people to protest. Most of us have experienced P2W in previous games, we know how it affects game play, we know how it ends with a decent level of certainty. Failure.

Sweatheart, let me tell you something about CCP. As soon as a feature shows up on Sisi or in a Blog it's practically set in stone and they will see through one way or another.
CCP has an internal newsletter that talks about ingame items for cash and the CEO of CCP writes in his mail that the curse is set and this has been communicated in their newsletter and other channels for some time now and they wait it out.

The time to stop this is now, not later when the stuff hits Sisi or the Blogs.

"Sigh"

Their "proof" is that CCP has changed some of it's internal procedures to mesh with Sony's.

Which, of course, has to happen when they start working closely with them on coding DUST 514 and it's expansions on the PS3.

Wow You're either an idiot or a sarcastic troll.

Yes to all 3 of those.

1) Will never buy **** from sony again. Not only from that but because of all the DRM **** they would put on my pc, just by inserting a music cd from them into it, not to mention the ******ed DRMware that came with the drivers/software for my old soney mini-disk player.

2)The prob with the Toyota was even more **** because it was the expensive models that where doing it. (and the lexus)
And was life threatening. I was going to by an Aurus, when I read about that, I ended up getting a KIA instead.

3) I changed banks just because mine refused to refund me the 20c interest I occured from overdraft, because THEY made my debit orders go off 5miliseconds before my Salary transfer.

Edit: I'll continue to play eve though. I dont really think this is all as big a deal as its been made out to be. I just want to be able to spin my ships instation again.

And you have validated my point. CCP will lose subs over this because of the kids (and adults with child-like tendencies) who will cry foul because of this PR disaster.

I hope you mean "sweetheart."

Ranger 1 will tell you that I've been around for a while and know the ropes somewhat well in this neighborhood. I'm a bit of an economist and can tell you that, as I posted in my OP, CCP is a for-profit business and as a for-profit business based in a country whose economy resembles a clogged toilet, they will resort to potentially unorthodox means of creating revenue to keep afloat. All it takes is a few people to completely blow a single article and email out of proportion to destroy a lot of hard work.

A little over a year ago when the US stock market suddenly dumped 400-500 points in one day because someone accidentally typed "billion" instead of "million," the media went ballistic and caused even more speculation and mayhem which ultimately made a lot of very wealthy stockholders in many companies not so wealthy. The same characteristic is happening here... media (in this case, the community) is overreacting to some concepts that don't affect everyone (if I had to venture a guess, I'd say that this could potentially affect 10% of the playerbase, tops) and therefore causing a hell of a lot of grief to other players who don't deserve this grief, and to the owner and producer of the game. The source of the mayhem is different, comparing apples to oranges, the stock market to the potential of a P2W scheme in the game, but the reaction is exactly the same.

Children and adults alike need to blow off their steam, either by getting drunk, getting high, or finding a hooker. When they're done, they'll come back and realize that at this very moment, Eve is exactly as it was on June 23rd, internal newsletter or not.

If you answered yes to all three, then you're the minority here who overreacted.

I agree that Sony is a big, powerful, evil company who unfortunately makes great hardware, but I very outspokenly disagree with their DRM policies, similar to the proprietary-ness of Apple.

Toyota actually found, after months of expensive investigation, that the claims were very ill-founded.

If you're ****ed about 20 cents, then maybe you should be ****ed about microtransactions.

This. Unfortunately you beat me to it.

I've played FFXI, EQ, WOW, GW, Rift, and of course, Eve.

There are no P2W concepts that are run by the company. They are all run by unauthorized third party groups, usually run by account hackers or account thieves who strip characters of their stuff and re-sell.

Evenews did NOT confirm it, they only posted a speculation based on something that they found in a google search. Please take note to the question mark at the end of the title of the page.

Their two accurate leaks before this one were of merit, since they were official CCP communicae. The SOE article is NOT of merit as there is no reliable quoted source. When I see an official, reliable, quoted source from an official party and not a third party speculation, then, and ONLY then, will I change my mind.

Now that I think about it...

SOE running this game might not be a bad thing. More GM's, more staff to handle issues in-game, more support for those that actually do choose to meddle in microtransactions...

Hi, alt.

Jita is always locked down.

Gaming media will always sensationalize protests because that's what media does.

All major ingame entities participating so they can keep their status as major ingame entities current.

In depth coverage on eve radio... see above comment about sensationalist media.

4000 accounts unsubbed... what's that, like 1% compared to the 50%+ that's nerdraging?

New whine post of fanboys complaining............... hey, I see what you did there... Cool

your missing the point, the psn network and everything else you mentiond is examples of things not in that companys control, non vanity items is a concious decision to screw over either less well off players or casual players that dont have the time to amass the isk to buy plex to convert to aur.

To quote a friend of mine "i dont want to play a game where someone can just pull out ther credit card to beat me"

its also been shown that play to win (p2w) decisions like this ruin games.

and I'm a fanbois of CCP and this game! Theres no other way to interpret those communications

Hilmar is a CEO.

All people within a company of a senior level are arrogant.

Therefore, Hilmar is arrogant.

Your point is valid. It was a very arrogant thing to say, however, just like how he says that the reaction was predictable, his reaction to the playerbase's reaction was equally as predictable. He may be arrogant, but he's also correct.

your missing the point, the psn network and everything else you mentiond is examples of things not in that companys control, non vanity items is a concious decision to screw over either less well off players or casual players that dont have the time to amass the isk to buy plex to convert to aur.

To quote a friend of mine "i dont want to play a game where someone can just pull out ther credit card to beat me"

its also been shown that play to win (p2w) decisions like this ruin games.

I'm still waiting for examples of P2P games that are also P2W. Farmville doesn't count.

Mea culpa, sweetheart.

CCP could have had ended this days ago like they ended the SOE hoax after 60 minutes.
They didn't.
CCP Zulu had a chance right after his blog went live and collected replies.. on the first page the main concern of some players was there in big yellow letters.
He could have had answered right there.
He didn't.

Your turn.

No problem, cupcake... just, reading the word "sweatheart" didn't sound very delicious.

CCP could have ended this after 60 minutes, except this wasn't a hoax, it was real, and they owned up to it. +1 CCP for admission.

Zulu (like all senior producers/management) is a mouthpiece and can only speak of what he's allowed to speak about. If the senior level managers in CCP tell him don't talk about something, don't answer questions about XYZ, don't comment on ZYX, then he's unfortunately doing his job. I agree with you that he could have answered (and his bosses should have given him the correct verbiage to use in his answers) however his employment is probably conditional upon what he does and does not say. Ultimately, Hilmar and CCP's PR team has final say in what can and can not be talked about on a public forum.

This adds to the conspiracy that is fueling this entire disaster. Silence is not confirming that CCP will not implement P2W tactics. Silence is not confirming that they will implement them, either, as I posted way up yonder. The US government does not deny the existence of aliens, but does not confirm them either.

Maybe we'll have another leak in the future confirming that there will be a P2W system sometime. It still won't affect the majority of the players. Until that happens, stop speculating and get on with the game.
