If CCP would step forward now and say that they will never ever allow non-vanity items being sold in the NEX store, that never game-affecting items will be sold, not ships, not ammo, not buying standings etc...
If CCP comes forward and promises to be more open, to communicate about their plans better and discus them with the playerbase before...
...would you believe that?

Believe it? No, probably not. Give them the benefit of the doubt? Sure. Not because they deserve it, but because I'm a sap and I like internet spaceships enough to take the risk, even at such long odds. |

Edited by: Yarrrrrhh on 25/06/2011 16:56:12 A couple days ago that would have sufficed. Now they will have to also fire a couple employees to calm people down and prove they're serious.
After that CCP would have to to take back CQ or give people a way to use the old hangar view without having to melt their PCs/Macs.
Most likely not going to happen though. |

Possibly. It's a long shot, but I think I might give them the chance.
Mind you, it would require that they bring out specific future plans (small, attainable ones) and stick with them. It would also have to come from an actual manager and not a teary-eyed PR agent. |

If CCP was to leave all the condescending bull**** and come clean with a clear statement about their plans for the future of Microtransactions and Incarna, it would be a step in the right direction. The TRUST (or belief) is something they would have to earn back by demonstration. |

I really thought CCP respected it's player base, not thought of us as a cash cow.

They've broken trust. Its not the sale of MT items to me. To me, I'm even ok with the sale of game enhancing items. What the leaked newsletter showed was something far far worse. They were willing to make game design and mechanics based upon how to sell the most MT stuff, not giving the best game experience to non MT players . They are willing to make it difficult for players to keep logged in in station while doing other cpu demanding things on their computer, to use the IRC elements while waiting to see if a fleet forms up. Or take steps to keep their client light to allow players to do the same while involved in pos reps or slow moving roams with lots of waiting etc. Why would they rush to nerf a dramiel that pretty much killed off the utilitie of far cheaper Intercepters when the loss of a dramiel costs 1/2 a plex and you could buy 10 t2 fit taranises for the same cost ? If decisions aren't based upon giving subscribers the most they can for their $15 a month but by finding ways to get much more than $15 a month , the game is going to be designed much differently and less playable for those not using MT (forced use of cpu levels, more time consuming to stay fit in competitive way , etc) MT work as long as their is TRUST that the basic game comes first.. they've showed their real colors in that is not longer their goal.. they'll design around the later. |

Ok at the SOE jab, I think CCP has proven over the past eight years that they are not SOE and to compare them to that sham of a company is pretty low.
SOE, ruined thier sandbox MMO by being unable to program it properly and ended up gutting it to turn it into a wow clone.
CCP has done a very good job at programming a sandbox MMO. I think we can all see that we are not playing wow in space.
I will agree with the one poster, having the old space dock view back would be nice. Putting in a "Depart Ship" button would have been a better way to enter the Captains Quarters.
I have yet to see any non-vanity items in the Nexshop, and I have to believe with this little protest that has been going on they will think twice about it. I will agree however that the price of items in the Nexshop seems a bit outrageous, and limited in selection at the moment.
As for everyones expectations of Incarna it might have fallen short for the time being, will it eventually get there, probably.
People need to be careful what they ask for, they might get it. Anyone remember all the protests that happened in SWG, look what the players got for thier efforts. I sincerely hope that CCP sticks to thier plans for the game, they have done a good job so far and would hate to see it ruined by a bunch of whiners.

A week ago yes, now, probably not. HOWEVER, if they were to say this, and also start ACTING on it then yes. To put it another way I want to see actions not words. The reason being that the players have been told that there would be no game play affecting items before, CCP has promised to communicate more before. You see where we are now. I'm not exactly sure how they can go about accomplishing that. If they would have headed this off early it probably would have been easy... now? It's probably nearly impossible, but it could be done. |

I think that pretty well sums up the concern of the players. There's a lot of specific points, but that one covers most of them. We're afraid of that happening to our game. |

Doubtful without some actions to backup those words. We've heard they are going to try and communicate better before that song is a CCP classic. |

No, not stupid.
That said, I'd keep subscribed for as long as the game was still fun. When the naked greed becomes to apparent, when player industry grinds to a halt, when everyone left is wearing monocles and gold top hats, when I start regularly facing pimped out gank squads I and my friends could never possibly hope to defeat without spending hundreds of real dollars, I'd have to call it quits. |

This is eve, I don't trust anyone. Give them the benefit of the doubt, sure. Plus such a official response would put out the fires in this forum. -K |
