I'm not against rmt per sť as long as it doesn't impact negatively on gameplay. And that's the point. I haven't played an MMO where rmt has made the difference between a player winning and not winning. Additionally I don't believe that rmt provides that much of a positive income stream for the company as the devs have to keep coming up with new stuff that people will buy all the time.
So what's the point of rmt? It's primary raison d'etre is to reduce pressure on the need to raise subscription levels. So my suggestion is that the EVE playerbase is probably more likely to react positively to the idea of an increased subscription level than most other games out there. We are all aware that times are hard financially for all businesses and subscription levels certainly haven't kept pace with inflation over the years.
I for one would prefer this option and leave PLEX as the sole example of non vanity rmt.
