The Alex Jones analogy is well placed.

It all boils down to methodology......... I'm merely saying that how this is being handled by SOME players in the Eve Online community is childish and wrong. Have you ever heard the term "silent majority"? The majority of players are not represented by those ranting here in the forums.

Yeah let's complain about how everyone complaining is an idiot and/or right wing nutjob! Screw the irony! People should like everything produced and if they don't they should just leave, trying to improve the game is for DUMMIES! LOLOLOLOOLOL

P.S. the superiority complex in here is rather irritating.

You're scared the protestors are destroying the game?

Been paying attention to what CCP has been saying as of late?

Just posted this on Zulu's new blog comments, good enough for a bump me thinks. Wink

-start
Don't know if I'm the first to say this but here it goes, thank you CCP Zulu. I also want to give a much needed and overdue thanks to CCP Pann and CCP Fallout for being on the frontlines of this whole thing and dealing with/tanking the trolls.

I really do have a better understanding of what the company newsletter was all about. If I did understand it correctly it's more of a brainstorm on big ideas currently in the industry, for employees to go back and forth to develop those ideas that could be used to enhance EVE/CCP.
"The opinions and views expressed in Fearless are just that; opinions and views. They are not CCP policy nor are they a reliable source of CCP views as a company. The employees who submitted articles to that newsletter did exactly what they were asked to do, write about theories and opinions from an exaggerated stand."-Zulu

As far as the NEX market goes, personally I won't be paying (I lol's at my puns) any attention to those things unless, someone happens to put one of those on market for less than 10 mil isk, that would probably be my limit. Therefore, "NEX market combat group of vanity items completely miss boeboe joe, doing 0.0 damage to his wallet, yay!"

A good feature to have on the NEX market too would be to display the original price beside those item(s) on sale, like 900 AUR then 1,200 AUR in strikethrough. But I digress, that is a another topic for another thread. Again I cannot thank you all enough for explaining this in further detail, and from mature players everywhere I would like to say I'm sorry for the crap you all have had to deal with. Now go make us some moar CQ's! YARRRR!!

Pretty tired of the temper tantrum myself. It's pretty ridiculous. But then my perspective is probably different than many of the folks freaking out. First, I am a small business owner myself, and am quite comfortable with the idea that you put everything on the table for internal discussions. That's simply smart -- even when you are 99% sure something is a bad idea you should always leave the door open to new ideas.

Second, I have been playing MMO's since the genre was invented, way back in the days of old UO and Meridian 59. Over the decade plus since then I have seen similar over reaction time and time again from players who really don't have the slightest idea what they are talking about. And while it is EASY to scream that the devs are stupid or never listen, the reality is that the devs are NOT stupid, have more hard data and experience than the typical player will ever posess, and almost always considered everything the player might have to say months or years before the thought ever endered the player's head. The rare exceptions to this rule are not found in successful and established gaming companies.

This is a revolution against competence and grounded in the irrational. The argument I keep hearing is that people really love eve and don't want it to change, or not in this way. Yet the game they love was developed over a half decade by the same folks vilified as demons today.

Burning down a building because you don't like the architecture is HARDLY my idea of "improvement". This is a game that's beginning to feel like a sandbox full of petulant children.... yes we have time invested (and I'll match years played with anyone), but guess what, I don't feel superior, I feel saddened at how this is playing out. Most violent revolutions in history improve nothing, but destroy everything.

If you want to sit around and continue to be milked for your cash, by all means, continue to do so.

In the meantime, I will continue to share my opinions on the direction CCP is going any way I damn well please, and I'd like to see you try to stop me.

Why don't you take your own advice - if you don't like what you're seeing, just leave quietly without a fuss. Rolling Eyes

I would love to see the real-world job resumes of the players screaming here in the forums. Sitting home with a Red Bull and a bag of Cheetos doesn't a business degree make (ok, now that smacked of superiority).

I also am damn tired of CCP (in childish fits of rage) locking threads, banning long standing eve personalities and defying the very hands that feed them.

Take a look at these pictures, I was mentioning earlier. It's comparable to what is happening on these forums, and equally absurd, irresponsible and destructive.

It is not just the paying for clothes it has been lots of things. Like anger of RMT, Bots, balance issues in the game, the community feeling like they are being ignored, eve being put on the back burner to Dust and walking in stations. The $99 commercial licence. Nerfs to people in 0.0. People are the seeing the direction that eve is heading and they dont like it. I think people just needed a reason to join together and express their dismay and now is the time it seems. Do i think it is kind of silly.....kind of but I have also been unhappy with the way CCP has been taking the game. So now is a good time for my voice to be head

I'd quote AdmiralJohn above you, but you're more interesting. You're not destroying the game; you're destroying the forums. How could I possibly pay attention to what CCP is saying? Every time they make a feedback thread, the lot of you spam the hell out of it, resulting in me having to search through 6400+ posts to find theirs. Not very productive.

Even your fool who was posting links to Dev, Seleene, and player comments gave up because he couldn't be bothered searching for them. I say fool, because he absurdly used his location in the thread to post a bloody commentary of the events, as he saw them.

Nobody is complaining about the people arguing against CCPs actions with some degree of decency and common sense. The rest of them are acting in essentially the fashion you described. As are you, with that little twist on things there.

You people have no patience. CCP is implementing new code, redesigning the code that EVE runs on, and doing a host of other things to eventually make the game better. They aren't ignoring anything, except, (for the most part), your trashing and trolling on these here forums. You're just to damn blind to see it, and can't look past the immediate changes, (most of which are good), to understand that these things take time.

CCP has responded, and continues to respond, and you don't listen. You, and people like you, are just flaming for the flame. There is no history of logic or reason to your replies. They're just senseless demands for sweeping changes and adjustments to give you everything you want immediately. That is not possible, and never has been.

CCP has a goal, and priorities. The community, and vast majority of the player-base, is completely divided on what they want, and can't seem to agree on anything. Nobody has been able to agree on anything in more than small groups; certainly not as a larger whole.

Regarding non-specifics, like 'Fix POS', or 'Rebalance ships' the vast majority can agree on that simple statement, but on nothing specific about it will you find the same. It is up to CCP alone to balance these changes, and decide what is going to be done. Them, and no one else. Whatever you think. They run EVE, and nothing you do is going to change that.

It's that simple.

You ever think people might be in less of a big 'tif if someone didn't put them in that position?
We can agree that the forums is a vocal minority, There is probably people ingame that are completely uninformed in regards to this, That sit on both sides of the fence.
It's a small percentage that actually uses the forum to express their opinion. You can bet that if changes like this actually hit-ingame you'll be one of several hundred still playing.

If you are going to take the time to moan about someone else moaning, You might actually want to clue yourself in to what they are moaning about first.. You may just find you agree with them - whether you wish to be as vocal (or not) as some may be. This is my first post in regard to this and likely to be my last, I'm fairly confident there is MANY more like me that are just as dissatisfied.

edit:: Forgot to mention, People would probably take things a bit more seriously (constructive) and less moaning if they felt there was an actual dialog going on and that they were being heard, When the CEO tells their staff "ignore what the players say about x" and there is little response from CCP in regard to it, It doesn't leave much room to be constructive when the same questions are looming for days without answer by CCP.

While i'm sympathetic, it is hardly unwarranted and should come as no real surprise to anyone.

I have concerns about how many of the people who are raging about this actually read the entire newsletter. I read it front to back and now believe the following things:

1. There's nothing in there that is profoundly evil.
2. As long as what ever performance enhancing items they may add are on the market (they say quite explicitly that this is the plan) it will not unbalance the game.
3. Every other MMO is talking about the same stuff behind the scenes or had already enacted it.

How can you be outraged at someone for doing more of what they've already done (ie plex).

Milking customers for cash is what companies do, it is part of their business you know.Wink

But other then that I still have a choice of what I am able to do, I do not have to buy gold-premium ammo and modules to stand a chance in EVE. A monocle, a skirt or a pair of boots are things I can purchase, if I choose to. Otherwise I can ignore it entirely and do whatever I did before in EVE.

I don't feel the need to rage and I think what is going on right now, is indeed more then just a bit immature.

To be clear...

You believe that the brilliant people who dreamed up this game, coded this game, guided it through years of challenge and massive technology changes, people who have invested their entire lives, their fortunes, even sacrificing their families creating this amazing one-of-a-kind game...

Are blithering idiots who have no idea why people play their game, no knowlege of the gaming industry, no clue what works and what's possible or what they are investing and risking?

Is this what you actually believe? To the people going bat**** crazy it's just a GAME, the the folks at CCP it's their career. They made this game pretty bad ass so far, so relax and let them do their jobs.
