jesus, what is wrong with you people at CCP Neutral

Why did you not specifically address the concerns that MT for ingame advantages are coming?

You could have made a solid vanity-only microtransaction commitment. The fact that you haven't is proof enough for most people that you are planning non-vanity transactions, and that **** just won't fly among your playerbase in any way, shape, or form.

I am a fairly reasonable fellow, but unless i see a solid commitment to vanity-only transactions I am done, and a lot of my spacebros are as well.

I didn't join in on the earlier rage, because I do not feel the rage myself. I'm fine with CQ, though I agree there should be a "Disembark" button and all the race versions should have been completed before release. I don't particularly care about NeX as it stands now, because if I don't want to use it, I simply won't.

I am conflicted about the potential for game-progressing items to be included in NeX. On the one hand, people can more or less buy their way up already simply by purchasing PLEX for RL money, selling the PLEX for ISK, then buying a ship with that ISK which they may not have been able to afford otherwise without months and months or grinding missions or whatever.

Being potentially able to buy LP for Aurum depends on how you look at it. Bribes exist in the real world, so why not EVE? Yet... I dunno. This is one kind of purchase that just reeks too much of the kind of scummy gameplay that EVE shouldn't have.

The thing is, CCP had an opportunity with this devblog to set the record straight regarding what was actually decided regarding MT. If the newsletter was just internal debate that may or may not have preceded the public promise to restrict MT to vanity items, fine. But it is not hard to say so. There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. All you had to type was:

"We would like to confirm our stance that MT will remain restricted to vanity items. The directions proposed in the newsletter were abandoned."

"Despite what we said earlier, we decided to revisit the topic of non-vanity MT items. So sorry, we lied, but it is our prerogative to change our minds."

See how easy it is?

*claps* Thanks guys really awesome post there, sure it addresses why the thing came to be but no reassurance that your plan is to not do P2W!

Prices compared to real life really great as well, if prices where even lower by 1 0 digit you would be making so much more money and people could care less if they where destructible then with the pod! Your largest buyer for NPC Corp items will be Roleplayer and you ****ed on them with those prices and if those are your final ones I do not even want to see a Ishukone Watch Uniform top!
Hmm be able to Roleplay for 10 months sadly without clothes or have to pay double the sub time and look believable!
I think 10 months was probably a low cut there. Your really not listening even if I understand its hard with the flux on forums but you do know there is some sort of reason for it!

CCP: Failing to understand the problem since 2002...

To be honest I predict that this devblog is just going to make your problems with the playerbase worse, not better. For me it doesn't matter. I stopped giving a **** what CCP says years ago.

Then again, I don't wear $1000 jeans either.

I've stayed out of responding to this stuff for the most part. I feel, however, this is as good a place as any to put my thoughts out.

I must say I agree with this. The ad hominem attacks are absurd and need to stop, if folks wish to be taken seriously. What are we, freaking SEVEN YEARS OLD?! Jeebus, people!

That said, however, Zulu, you cannot seriously equate $1000 real life jeans with supposed micro-transactions in games. You guys have a serious lack of understanding when it comes to the value proposition of MT in general. You've clearly lost view of the micro part; that's what makes this sort of thing in any way attractive. It's such a nominal price people figure "why not". The digital equivalent of $60 for one piece of virtual clothing? Not a chance in bloody hell most folks would pay that. $6, maybe, $.60 almost certainly. The same could be said about the commercial license issue. I understand your desire to maintain control of your IP; I know it's a difficult issue. You need to be much mroe realistic on price, though.

Now, I am not one that's likely to ever buy in-game goods in that manner. My kid, however, probably would. You've got to price things according tot he market you wish to capture. You're not Apple, stop pricing things as though you were. I really hope you, CCP in general, get this. I love the game of Eve and I have nothing but respect for the hard-working folks that make it a reality. Please listen to the point between the lines, ignoring the raging jerkwads as much as possible. We're not all like that but more than just them are concerned about this.

Edit: Dear god, in less than 5 minutes we got 10 more pages to this thread. Can we say MASSIVE concerns?

This is the worst response I have heard from a company who is supposed to be professional, It did not answer any questions. The basic sum up was "Hahah Deal with it."

This was cool, like fine, i red the PDF, several times, it was pritty clear that this was a ****-storm out of proportion, it was good to get that sort of cleared up, unfortunatly you done gone monocled at this part:

Frankly I'm appalled at the behavior of the community surrounding this issue. Truly, I thought the maturity of this community set it apart from other MMO's but I'm sad to say that the ravenous behavior of the players over the past 2 days has been embarrassing.

Let me ask a question of all the people out there complaining:

Do you work at CCP? No you do not.

Let them do their jobs. They really do care about making Eve the best it can be. Just because you pay for a subscription every month doesn't give you the right to attack people. If you are that mad, then JUST STOP PLAYING! The mature ones who are still having fun won't miss you.

Posted - 2011.06.24 21:18:00 - [379]

Did the CSM not warn you that this would happen? Did you not pay attention when T'Amber resigned? Have you not been paying attention at all?

Do you realize you are responsible for a sizable portion of your countries income? Do you realize that if you destroy your own company that you kill Iceland's third largest export? Do you know how the lack of that income might affect your communities?

Keep you customers happy. That is the number one rule in business. You fail that. All the time.

You still haven't repeated your commitment to never bringing non-vanity MT's, but it doesn't matter.

A long-term MMO like Eve is built on trust.

Why should I keep investing time, effort and money into this game to someday achieve great things if the game MIGHT NOT be worth playing in 6 months?

CCP has shown many times that its promises are meaningless.

The only thing now that you can do is DELIVER. Your words have no value and won't stop the exodus. The time to promise to never bring non-vanity MTs is gone, you can't even reiterate promise, but it doesn't matter because we don't trust you anymore, anyway.

Only your ACTIONS could change something.

Remove the Noble Exchange, give players back the PLEX's they have spent on Aurum and make all the Noble Store content free for everyone.
Then, add a "Disembark Ship" button to make CQ OPTIONAL. If Incarna is good, players will use it, don't make us vomit it to your face by trying to force it down our throat.

That should be enough to stop the bleeding until the next time you **** because we all know you are too stubborn to do what the CSM tells you and to learn from your mistakes.

It takes years to build trust and just a few seconds to destroy it.

That devblog isn't addressing the elephant in the room.

Sorry CCP but you're making it worse, you're going to release more expensive stuff? Sorry but, the clothes thing is *******s and I'm getting frustrated now.

Thank you for the devblog reply.

However, it does not address any of the primary concerns regarding the recent patch.

1) Will MT be used for in game advancement?

2) Will you release improvements/changes to the CQ technologies to resolve gameplay issues

3) Will you start to engage, discuss, trust your player community.

Thankyou for your timely response to the above.

Why havn't they talked about this yet when this was more talked about than everything else. damn ccp, and i was sticking up for you

The blog is worthless.

It fails to solve the issues, acts like our demands are worthless, and further insults us by trying to hide the main topics of contention.

wtf ccp?

I don't care that the cloths I'm wearing really were bought from nordstrom; that shouldn't dictate the prices in a game I play as a diversion after office hours for 15/month. Saying otherwise is just plain FAIL.

And yes, the community can "attack" individual people. The fact is, its called keeping people accountable for their actions and making sure they take responsibility for them.

Additionally, you guys are you are the only game in town that has internet spaceships so Im sure that makes you feel good; I guarantee that will not be true for long.
