You should tell your superiors to come to the forums and read for themselves the issues people have with CCP as a company as well as the incarna patch instead of having them use you as a messenger.

Why complain about us misbehaving on the forums and wasting your time when your management is misbehaving by not even bothering to come read the forums.

I imagine they've heard it all already, and are mostly digging through piles of people repeating the same things, or just posting garbage.

CCP Fallout is claiming that because he has to deal with all the trolling on the forum, CCP is not being informed because he can't read the forums and collect information to give to his superiors.

No, ponies and war declarations are a waste of time. What I should be doing now is gathering your feedback and spreading this on throughout the company. This is what you guys pay me to do. Instead, I'm removing pony pictures from the forums.

Please do not misconstrue or take what I said out of context. Doing so will continue to cause strife amongst the community, unfortunately.

Maybe he should realize the trolling is a result of CCP's lack of response, and that maybe he should ignore it and address the root of the problem.

Eh. CCP has been cornered into finalizing the minutiae of every detail of its business strategy. Deciding which proposals that have been on the table for the past six months to accept, and which ones to sacrifice to the rabid playerbase.

I'm picturing fistfights and shouting matches. Nervous accountants on overdrive, crunching numbers so fast that their adding machines are starting to pour off smoke. And at the center of it all, John Turbefield, surrounded by a golden halo doing glorious battle against the forces of darkness.

An epic battle like that must take place over the course of days. Or it simply wouldn't be epic.

The only way she can discover something was a troll or otherwise a waste of time is to read it, and waste her time. It's the same with people writing gigantic posts that are just re-wordings of things which have been said already.

What she's trying to do is find anything relevant or new among it all, and pass it along. If there's something you feel is important that everyone is screaming, you can probably stop repeating it already and adding to the pile she has to work through.

Maybe they should just scrap all that and reconsider the development direction EVE is going in. I think that it's exactly because of the fact that CCP Fallout is a messenger between the players and upper management that CCP as a company seems to be disconnected idea wise from the EVE community. They are simply not part of it.

Why lock the troll threads then? Just read the OP, if it's a troll, ignore the entire post. People will realize that troll posts/threads don't get responses and will stop making/responding to them. It's pretty simple. Respond in threads where you want people to post.

This is all being handled very poorly I must say.

Yeah. Sorting out the scrap from the salvage is what the people at CCP are hopefully *****ing at each other for right now.

As for perspective, leading a community and developing its systems and rules tends to isolate you from it. You're forced to deal with groups over individuals. Since it's online, the individuals have no faces, no presence. It warps the perspective a bit.

So you hire playful-yet-anal-retentive wage-slaves to keep you grounded. These moderators have to read every post of every forum thread, making sure that no one is posting pictures *****es, trying desperately to uphold some standard of "quality." As quality of discussion falls away, they start feeling that there's no way they can live up to the impossible task of keeping up that standard.

This is just speculation, but at that point, I expect that drinking cheap vodka on the job and reenacting scenes from Clerks starts looking like a great idea.

Fallout made things worse by squelching threads like Door Picture.
