I agree that the turret icons are terrible. As players, I do not think we need an actual representation of the weapon, just give us a class icon back. Right now its terribad. |

Hate to make Here Here! Posts but this one is terrible.
I mean graphic design 101 is you do not just shrink the object, take a shot, and call it an icon. That went out in 1993.
Black icons on a black background space game. Not one single design or art staff noticed this? That's just pathetic and sloppy from all sides.
You just need one icon for each type in each size. The text does the rest.

I find the new turret icons terrible , the are to dark . The worst icon is from the salvager , it's a wierd gray / black blob of nothing. We want the old icon's back...!!!!

The avatars in captain's quarters look like zombies compared to their portraits, the friggin' rooms are dark and no light switch to be found (I looked), the ships in the hangars are not to scale, and all the turret icons are, as mentioned above, lumps of coal.
Helmut is bragging about how great Incarna is. From any objective perspective he comes across like a besotted politician who can't see the forest for the trees.
The Maller looks great, but who in their right mind would fly that piece of junk, given its fitting drawbacks?
When my subscription expires, I'm taking a long break. I've played every day for over 4 years and disappointment piled upon disappointment has really soured me on this game. |

After all my flaming on CCP today, I feel the need to stand up for what I believe in even as to contradict what I have previously said.
I like the new turret icons, nice touch. It's an improvement that can further be improved. I hope they're OK to change it, I mean, new icons probably took over 5 months to complete over at CCP.

I've noticed this also. If CCP were to redesign the new turret icons for in space, as they have done for their representing market icons, but simply shrunk them a bit, that would fix this little player gripe. In my opinion it would take a little more than a working day to do this if you were designing the icons from scratch, but you have base templates for the icons from the market already done. Why not simply shrink them? Not only is it simple, but it'd be fairly easy and quick to do, given that you already have a base. |

Absolutely! This has been occuring to me every time I scroll through my hangar. Can't do anything but pray that CCP will address this (Fat chance  ). |

Well, I have a master degree in design and I have to tell you that if you have to READ what the icons are, you FAILED as a designer. The icons looks like a school boy work pretending to be a professional. They are simply HORRIBLE as icons. - BAD choise of the background - Icons are supposed to be a SIMPLE representaion of the required item - Icons are supposed to be understood AT A GLANCE. If you stare more than 2 seconds looking at it trying fo figure what the hell it represents, you failed as a designer. So, don't say bull**** my boy. |

The new icons should: - be distinguishable at a glance - be clearly visible despite the different backgrounds
The old icons did most of this. Unfortunately neither is IMO the case any more. |

Sorry, but they look awful. :( They look like black turds now, to be frank (I'm talking about the icons for tractor beams and salvagers now, which are considered turrets now). I very much like the old icons back, please. |

I'd have to agree, they look horrible. Just a big lump of dirt. Now the turrets are absolutely stunning themselves but the icons, yeah definitely need a tune-up. |

Couldn't have said it better myself. In addition, the other problem with the icons is that you have to be playing at a very high res with a very large screen to see the details. I play on a 20" at 1440x900, and I can't tell the difference between my turrets and my tractor beam unless I stick my face right next to it, after which I can see the details, but they still look like crap. As someone who likes to design custom icons to go with command shortcuts and batch operations I've created for personal use, I learned this lesson myself long ago. You can't take a large image that's supposed to be seen at high res, and simply smash it down into a 32x32 icon and get good results. |

Why I just moving onto using turrets, now all the icons are the same, then I look deeper, there all different, even the t1 and t2 of each gun, but still all look the same, now why did they have to change the icons, it was pleasing to the eye before, I saw a miner 1 icon I knew it was a miner, didn't need to know if it was special in any way. I saw a picture of a gun, and went hey its a gun! Now its a little confusing between the 2 fitted modules on the noob ship! Being the assets are already there somewhere can you make a option to bring them back? Being as the client already 8GB a extra few megabytes would not matter much, as I guess the new icons probably take up more than a few extra megabytes anyway! |
