Thats not something you can mimik in a moving state, else the whole shadow and light thingie has not meaning in a station iff it doesnt affect your character.

And for FFS put you pics in link like you should in this forum section.

Dear, the character creator uses dynamic lights and shadows, since you can move your character around under it, also it easy noticeable if you switch between available options. Also, if you checked the fanfest videos - devs clearly say "YEs we can make light source to move around on your demand, the engine handles this with ease, but we didn't think of it - it's a great idea." So, again, it IS dynamic and real time generated. The problem is not the 'dynamics', the problem is huge contrast and lack of details, which are present in CC, which is built on the IDENTIC TECHNOLOGY. I suggest you keep your comments to yourself AND if you don't like the pictures - there's an option to disable them, easy to use.

Have a nice day.

Looks like some sort of settings bug, textures are definately the same as in char editor.

I think its something as simple that they just have the vast majority of the light coming from above in some parts. This is akin to using a flashlight right under your face in the complete dark, you do look different when you do this obviously.

I honestly don't know why they have it like that, it is a bit ugly (and not to mention very unrealistic, considering a good portion of the light would reflect off the walls and the walkway underneath even if the light source was coming from above).

Hopefully, they'll have it fixed eventually.

My character seems to have the same skin pigment problem MJ had. In the creator he's very dark skinned (as I designed him, and as you should see to the left). But in the station he's pale as a sick albino. :P

That why you are comparing you ingame char with a posed picture that has static lights ??
Yes the creator has sorta dynamic lights iff you wanne call it that way. The poser how ever has static light otherwhize you could not make the light come from (for example) below your face. Thats was the light options are for and also the diff posings to go with the light options.
See here its explained what posing is.

I have a right to a opinion aswell, and there is nothing wrong with reminding some one with the forum posting rules.
Iff you think there is maybe you should read them more carefull.

I agree you look way diff then in the posed picture, and proll worse then in the creator. But i still see a large diff between textures in your screeny and my screeny. (fog for instance doesnt suit ur screeny verry good at al.

They ripped out that radiosity lighting engine. But come on, June 21 was just a bit too soon anyway. Just one room, pretty much says it all.

I think that as well, or rather, that they forgot to put in shadow smoothing. As soon as the light is only from up or down the shadow screws up the facial structure because to the human eye it seems like the outline of the face. As soon as the character is evenly lit it goes back to normal. The issue i have is that if you open your character creator, the light is not evenly distributed as well, so i cant really understand the difference here (even more apparent if you go to the portrait creator and play with the light settings).

Btw, to the "crank up your graphics" people, it is at max. If i set it to low, its the same deal with lower graphics. Its NOT an issue with the graphics setting.

yup. before deployment i thought - sure its useless contentless update but at least I won't need to launch portrait editor again. but after seeing this **** i am a big disappoint.

although i am using max settings on radeon hd5850 - maybe nvidia cards render this better?

also the problem is NOT just the lightning. it would be half decent if it was only the lightning ..

the main problem is that they scrapped face expressions completely. the CQ avatars look like mannequins or something, absolutely null fixed face expression, that's why they look kinda dumb.

i think there should be configurable face expression wearable in general and maybe some actions that change it to different configured ones like smile, sarcastic etc etc etc.

of course i am not saying it should be implemented in spaceships game, but if they wanted to do it right then that's how it should have been done.

basically this CQ engine is pathetic one, the only real blast was the CC. they shouldn't have set the expectations so high with CC if they couldn't deliver CQ on the same level...
