Between all the CQ bashing I feel the need to voice my appreciation for it. Wink

At its current stage it doesn't do much and I am even thinking about disabling it, like so many others did. But even with this low level of interaction I think it's a nice step forward. I already like watching the news on the TV screen. Especially the updates about sovereignty changes. It's a nice way of staying updated about 0.0 conflicts without reading extensive news items.

Since we still can do everything like before, I probably wont disable it. I still can dock and undock without walking a single meter, so why should I bother that my ship is now behind me instead of below the camera? I can turn around and see it anyway. And if I feel like watching the news and sitting on a sofa, I can do that now!

TL;DR
I think it's a cool addition!

Pro:
+ My battleship looks awesome in the hangar!
+ It's even spinning itself! Cool
+ I can sit on a couch and watch news
+ I can still do the same stuff as before, so I am not forced to walk

Contra:
- Loading time could be improved
- Manual ship spinning is missing. -> Maybe there could be a camera drone that can be activated to spin the ship?

Some more improvements come to my mind:
- Needs more interaction possibilities, for example a TV panel with different options to access stuff
- Imho it should be possible to use the bed
- When using the bed or sofa and logging out, the character should start there again after log-in!
- The "Loading" text should be removed imho. The blurry image would still send the info and look cooler w/out the text.

I will ditto your comments. I like the changes and it makes for a bit fuller environment (if I choose to interact).

The turrent graphics and other ship based changes are spot on (loved my Noctis before, love it more now that there are cool turrents and graphics). Visually, very nice.

Would like to see some CCP love for us Missile jocks now.....

General comment, with so many gamers with so many device types and individual preferances, you are going to have people griefing.

Cool deal CCP!

Imma gonna jump on this raft adrift in the sea of CQ hate. I, too, think it's a great expansion. I love, particularly, the possibilities that it promises.

I haven't noticed myself not being able to do the stuff I could before. I have noticed I can call up the old functionality - fitting my ship etc - in new ways or still use the old ways if I'd rather.

I have noticed my EVE life's been made a little easier with things like the Agent Finder.

I have noticed I can buy myself a nice pair of high-heel boots if the mood takes me.

I don't have a top-end machine, it's a couple of years old and runs WinXP across two monitors but I've not noticed a huge amount of lag or gameplay-destroying framerate loss. My GPU runs hotter than before but has peaked at a perfectly acceptable level.

I take my hat off the the devs and am genuinely looking forward to the refinements, enhancements and additions that can now build on these solid foundations.

I agree with the OP, and I know this the first step for greater things to come good job CCP.

I like the CQ. It is really a whole new feeling, a new connection to the character I am playing.
They failed hard with the item shop, but the CQ are a very good beginning for the rest of Incarna.
The room itself is very good, but lacks many features at the moment. Here are a few suggestions to make the CQ better:

1.) The "3D" menus are annoying. Just let us right-click the items in our CQ. The idea is nice but they look very "cheap" and it is annyoing that they pop up whenever I accidentally mouse-hover them. Make the ship in the hangar double-clickable and right-clickable.
2.) Where is the bathroom? The CQs need some small bathroom with a toilet and a shower. Not that they have to be interactive, but it adds to the immersion. Also the capsule is at a very exposed location, isn't it?
3.) Give us options for the main screen. There are some nice informations, but I don't need directions to tutorial agents, epic arcs I can't do because of my standings or incursions that are on the other side of the galaxy. Need market tickers and add informations on the planetary interactions screen.
4.) The scale of the ships are not right because they are all placed at different ranges from the viewpoint. It even seems that the ships are moving closer as you walk away from the balcony. Very strange effect.

Keep up the good work with the room!

Pros contd.:

+ the ticker feed in the middle is quite useful, reminded me that this alts medical clone was 500 sp over its current capacity (never noticed before)
+ "double click walk to" works flawlessly: waypoint finder _well_ implemented
+ lighting works flawlessly (hey if you are standing under a stron overhead lamp your nose and cheeks are bound to produce a shadow) even with my dated 9600GT

Improvements:

* option to overlay the middle ticker with a chosen chat channel, or integrate a "pop up" hologramm window from the couch table
* I need a bathroom, can't always defecate in my pod tubes...

Edit: oh perhaps with the CQs from the other races, minmatar are animals with no sanitation...

If I remember correctly there was a lot of criticism over the requirement to right click everything before the added the 3d menus.

I actually think this is an all right patch, and way back when Incursion 1.0 came out there wasn't really much in the way of features anyway and that was actually intentional, more of just paving the way for the new features. I don't think we even got incursions until Incursion 1.1, I'm quite thankful that we got Incarna in 1.0 and not 1.1 (Albeit just CQ). Yes it is slightly lackluster for now, they've just added a completely new aspect to the game, how did you expect it to perform? But it's hardly going to be six months of nothing from now.

Yep, many people didn't like the right-click heavy UI. But I must admit that I am also confused by the new left-click holo icons. The first thing I try is to right-click everything.

Indeed, the UI as it is now is inconsistent, perhaps that will be remedied later on.
